We had a breakfast this morning in this place, based on the glowing reviews here. We eat out pretty often, but we are not picky eaters. Of course it is important to eat good food, but sometimes just seeing "the care" can also go a long way. This place seems to have given up on caring to do things well. There is nothing that is disastrous at first sight, but almost everything about our experience here felt wrong or incomplete. So much that I had to come home to open a Yelp account to leave a review! The waitress wearing dirty t-stuff (pajamas) with holes? bringing coffee on paper cups with milk already added? a shakshuka plate that has nothing to do with shakshuka? a breakfast waffle that is pre-cooked (1$ waffle of the package)? Bringing these cold waffles with sunny side eggs on the side (why not put sushi too)? strange ambiance of randomly collected chairs, tables, items...etc. etc. My list is longer but enough said about this place. There is no way that this place could get so many 5 star reviews, so there is one good thing to mention at least: owners seem to have a lot of friends. read more

The menu is massive and the food is amazing! Great quality and fresh. I'm so happy this place opened so close to where I live! I can't wait to go back and try more on their menu. The interior is beautiful, lots of natural light, plants, artwork and really cool decor and furniture that you can look at while you wait for your food. In House Cafe had always been one of my favorite brunch spots back when they had a location in Allston. I was so excited to see that they had re-opened and moved to a new location after 4 years of being closed. The staff that works here are still some of the nicest and warmest people--one of the main reasons I have always loved this place. The food is still so great. It's insane how huge the portions are in correlation to the price and quality. I had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant -- the croissant was definitely freshly made. I also love their sweet stuff--I got a huge crepe with Nutella, strawberries and bananas and it was amazing. My friend had a Mediterranean omelette with a side of home fries and an English muffin and loved it. If you're ever in the area please check this place out. Such a gem! Service was good but food was very ok. Shakshuka was literally just watery diced tomatoes with eggs. Eggs were cooked well but that was not shakshuka. I ordered the Chicken soup and it was quiet good, flavorful and hot. But along with the other orders, everything was already premade, cold, and overall disappointing. The vegetables and cheese were merely placed on the food, not even made but left to melt with the warm meal. I got a mushroom omelet and the mushrooms were straight from the jar or container, like I said before, they weren't cooked along with the meal but just placed within the food, leaving the eggs itself soggy. The freshly squeezed orange juice was really Tropicana orange juice poured into another plastic cup. The hibiscus tea was however quite good. We were checking this place as a change of pace brunch spot. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of the menu and the quality of the food. Most quick brunch places have omelets that are pretty much beaten eggs poured out on a flat top. These omelets were well beaten so that they were light and fluffy and the fillings were good quality. The space is very pleasant with each table having its own style, lots of plants, and very bright interior. We will be going back again to try more dishes. read more
