For the longest time, I've wanted nothing more than to live in a city that had both an In-N-Out and a Shake Shack. That dream is now a reality, it somehow doesn't quite to capture what I had conjured up in my head. Everything looks good on paper: fabulous customer service, long lines at the drive-thru but moves along quickly, cheapish prices (#1), clean and brightly lit interior, plenty of parking, and open late every night. But the food? It doesn't taste like California, but it's acceptable but not exceptional. Double doubles are hearty, animal style is required, fries are always subpar, and the patties are often oversalted. The produce doesn't nearly feel the same. Could it be the Texas effect? I still find myself here every so often, met with the same enthusiasm that I would see when in Southern California. The end result isn't the quite the same, but I'm hopeful nevertheless. Classic In-N-Out win. The Double-Double was excellent, as always. Juicy, fresh, and exactly what you hope for every time. I've never been a huge fan of the fries, they really need that double-fry treatment, but the burger more than makes up for it. Stopped by around 11:15 on a Sunday and just beat the rush. Only a few people when I walked in, and by the time I left the line was out the door. Perfect timing. Hard to beat the value too. Two full meals for about $22, when you're easily spending $30+ at Wendy's or Whataburger these days. One of the best burgers around and still one of the best deals. read more

We went for a Saturday lunch and it was super busy. We had a hard time finding parking and seating inside. The order line went pretty quick and we got our food in no time. The burgers were good. I enjoyed the crunchy onion slice inside with the in and out sauce. The cascabella peppers are unique and tastes great with the burger. Honestly, the burger on its own was quite plain so I would recommend eating it with more sauce or the peppers. I do enjoy their animal style fries but we got the plain fries to get them fresh. We sprinkled some salt on them and it was perfect. Great stop to grab a meal real quick. Bright and welcoming ambiance. Also little food hack, go crazy on the toppings this ain't Chipotle where it's extra for queso/guac, I added a little extra raw onions and pickles and man it was the right move. Now if you've read this far you might wonder why I haven't said anything about the food besides the burger. Well unfortunately there's very little you're missing there. I am quite sorry to report that the fries and shake are skip for me. Fries it could be just a personal preference but they don't got that oofph that makes me go "Oh I gotta get these again!". I honestly prefer Culver's or Freddy's. I did like the thick slice of fresh onion. But the fries. Woof. The fries. Nope. Never again. They tasted like they were made out of dehydrated potatoes. I came here Monday night with the husband and OMG it was FIRE. I mean we've had in and out before but it had been a while for me so I forgot how good it is. Having recently visited Katy, I knew there was a location nearby and HAD to go. The line was super long at 9pm, going out to the street. The parking lot was full, too. No matter the wait time, I wanted my fill. We were in line for maybe 15 minutes total, they were FAST. The employees were all super nice, too. Our order was correct, hot, and above all, delicious! It was super super salty, though. But I haven't been eating fast food for over a month so I think my body just wasn't ready for that salt bomb. I live in Los Angeles and for whatever reason they make the burgers so much better at this Katy location when I visit Texas. In LA it's always hit or miss with the quality and the effort (for example the fries will be solid as rocks 25% of the time, the burger usually isn't flush with too much damn lettuce, meat isn't as good, and the buns for some reason are always cold in the middle and burned around the edges)... but this location consistently makes burgers worthy of being on a commercial. Please get In N Out HQ to send the guy who runs this place to whip the staff in Woodland Hills, CA on Ventura Blvd into shape please! Do not get me wrong. This is by far, my absolute only and favorite fast food restaurant that I eat at. I do not eat at any other fast food restaurants. This by far has the best quality taste. Everything you name it but one thing I cannot look past is the fact that you have these young young girls working out For the drive-through line late at night. This is extremely dangerous. The parking lot has people ripping through it and I had a young girl take my order about the age of probably 17 at 10:30 at night walking up to random people's cars. This is completely unsafe for these girls. We had one of each flavor shake at the table--strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. The shakes were a big hit, especially for my nephew who is 1. He kept signing for "more!" I'm not a huge fan of their fries, but never have been. I add salt and use lots of ketchup for dipping. Burger hit the spot as it always does.
