I love her organized teaching system; she provides enough structure to give you a path to follow while leaving plenty of room to be intuitive. I like her focus on placement, a concept I didn't even know existed beforehand. And I love her focus on grounding into yourself and seeking your own true expression of voice. I was lucky to meet Virginia just before the pandemic hit, so I had a few sessions in person at her studio in Wimberley. Since then we've worked through Zoom and it's been great. Virginia introduced me to the 'Original Sound' setting in Zoom, and with that set our virtual sessions are just as productive as being in the same room. Of course, nothing beats the vibe of being live in person, and I can't wait to get back there, but in the meantime I'm able to use this time to do the work I need to do. They had a 20 kid limit so we always knew it wouldn't be crowded. The entire concept is great, we buy the five play pass at least once a month if not more. This might be coming to an end because of what happened this morning. My nanny kid has a fractured tibia, play street is a safe option for us because I don't have to worry about dozens of kids tripping over her. We arrived at 9 am after booking a spot online and seeing they had plenty of spots open. The employee who was super nice let me know that they had a large field trip arriving during our play time. The reason we chose and have chosen play street over places like the thinkery because we don't have to battle for space or field trip groups. They should block these time slots out and not have spaces open because this will put them way over their own capacity. I'm not against field trips having places to go to- this is on the franchise owners for trying to accommodate too many people at one time. There needs to be a better system, if there's going to be field trips- find a way to mark it on your schedule so we don't waste our time driving here.

Fast forward to last week and we had literally nothing to do so we reserved a play time spot for $15. My jaw DROPPED when I saw all the toys and different stations for the kids. It was PERFECT for my bored little guy. Every station gets cleaned between sessions and I loved it. Everything was organized and the place is just so beautiful. I do wish they offered memberships but at $15 for 2 hours, we aren't complaining. The staff are all incredibly wonderful, happy, smiling folks who are so kind to the kids. We're going today and even I'm excited to get the kiddo out to PSM on this rainy day.

A few things that make Songs for Seeds so cool: 1. They have a live 3 piece band! It's a little baby rock music class with music the parents will actually enjoy too. The kids play little instruments during class and then have a chance to play the real instruments after class (and can even sing or talk into the microphone). 2. It's educational. The kids practiced counting, explored another culture (today we flew to India), played a game centered around animals and finding a match, created a character based on colors and shapes, practiced keeping different rhythms, and more all while incorporating singing and dancing. 3. It's fun and interactive. They have the coolest bubble machine I've ever seen. Tons of bubbles that mostly stay up high; the kids were going crazy for them. Very hands on for the kids. There's even a little magic show. 4. Caring staff. They all seemed excited to be there, had good energy and called the kids by name throughout class. 5. It's a modern take on traditional kids music classes. I've tried other music programs, and while I thought they were good classes; for the price I was a little underwhelmed and thought they seemed similar to some of the free kids events at our local library. Songs for Seeds is definitely worth your money and easy to find value in That's it in a nutshell. Go check it out for yourself! *It's a little hard to find - in a Tae Kwon Do building next to a school. Don't forget to bring socks!

Every summer the Zilker Theatre Productions presents a free musical for all to enjoy. This is…read morealways a summer tradition for me to attend the show. This summer it was Bring it On and past shows included Shrek, The Little Mermaid, Legally Blonde, Newsies, Hairspray and others. You can come early before the show and place your blanket down on the hillside to reserve your spot. It is a great location to watch an outdoor performance or show. The Zilker Hillside is an outdoor amphitheater venue located on a hillside in Zilker Park with a large stage, ample lighting capability, amenities, and location next to Barton Springs Pool and is the perfect spot for a dance recital, symphony or cultural event. Visitors are allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages. The theater also has a concessions stand on site offering snacks and drinks. There are restrooms available. No dogs are allowed unless they are service dogs.

We brought a small picnic to enjoy and lots of people brought food they ordered to eat before/during the show. The sound quality and level is excellent. We were more off to the right side on the stage and could still see fairly well and could hear everything perfectly. They do have plenty of trash cans around so please clean up after yourself. At the merch/sales table they have programs and surveys that help them with data for grants and benefits by showing who makes up their expansive audience. The night I was there they did a drawing for a gift card if you filled out an information slip and I actually won a BookPeople gift card! Please buy something/tip/add money to the actors buckets that come around so that they can continue to provide awesome, quality free entertainment to the community. I went to Music & Arts last Saturday for my fiance to spend some of his tax refund. It's a nice,…read moresmaller music store that seems like it mostly caters to middle school and high school students who are looking for their band instruments. They also have a decent guitar selection. The associate was very helpful and friendly. We started talking about our own high school band days of yore and he took the time to look up french horn prices for me out of my own curiosity. The store can order pretty much anything you want and they are honest about price ranges for instruments. They won't try to pressure you into buying an instrument that is more expensive than what you need. I will definitely be back for more musical shopping!
