I work as a Director of Operations for a small sports entertainment company here in San Diego and my President wanted to make a custom business card with embossing on it. We reached out to some of our existing printing contacts and quickly learned how difficult and expensive this job was going to be. After being turned down because no one had the capability to handle our special request, we came across In to Ink on Yelp. The reviews were great so we reached out to them to see what they were about. The owner of the business, Larry, immediately took the reins and felt he could handle the job. After a meeting with Larry at his printing office, we felt confident in his ability and gave him the job. Larry and his team nailed it! I can't stress this enough. They are not only a 5 out of 5 star business, but these are the brightest 5 out of 5 stars one can achieve. That's the bottom line, but if you need further convincing, I break it down further: Customer Service As I mentioned, once I contacted In to Ink, the owner, Larry, got back to me personally. He worked closely with us in a very customer friendly manner. He never used industry terms that we didn't know and made sure we understood everything involved before moving forward. Even though we were just making a business card, our project was quite complicated with many steps. Larry and his team were really patient and had outstanding communication throughout the whole production. They really care about your order like it's their own. Price The business card we wanted has a gloss varnish and a custom embossed logo on it. We knew the card was going to be expensive given its customized nature. Despite this, In to Ink gave us a very reasonable quote with no hidden costs or surprises. They asked for half as a deposit to cover materials which in my experience are a standard and reasonable request. Expertise/Knowledge Larry and his team know their stuff. Larry gave us excellent insight into what paper stock to use and how much varnish to use. Although they didn't do the emboss in house, he had a partner with his own business specializing in that service who contributed to the production. Also, before any printing could be done, I needed to supply the digital artwork. I worked closely with In to Ink's digital prepress department on creating the necessary files. They were able to guide me through what needed to be done. Quality of Work/Product The finished product was a masterpiece. Larry even threw in some gold edge painting for the cards at no extra cost. Everything was perfect. The printing, the cut, the emboss, and the gloss varnish were absolutely flawless. No detail was missed. Simply put In To Ink is the best of the best!! I originally went to In To Ink to get my line of greeting cards letterpress printed. It is so scary to take that step, but honestly it changed my world and I couldn't be happier with the amazing quality of printing and just my whole experience! The impecable quality combined with the professional and personal atmosphere there made my experience the best I could have asked for. Because the great outcome of my first printing project, I have been back a couple of times for others and I keep finding trying to come up with other projects to bring them just because...they are just that good. In to ink did an amazing job producing my company business cards. They met with me for over an hour, showing me every possible stock, color, and letterpress option... and this was before I had even decided to use their services. As the press plates were being designed, Theresa and Larry were in constant contact, answering my phone calls and emails with the hour, and reassuring me that everything was going smoothly. At press check, I met with Larry for 4+ hours, tweaking every nuance of the card from color, to register depth, to special dusting effects... all the while getting a lesson on the history of letterpress. Oh, did I mention that they produced these cards in under a week, over a holiday weekend? WOW! We were recently privileged enough to start working with In to Ink on a variety of projects, including our business cards. Theresa and Larry are some of the nicest, most genuine professionals I have had the privilege to work with, and I mean that literally. Larry Pyle is probably one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met in the print world. With so many options using Letterpress, we had a tough time deciding on the final for our cards. Everyone was very patient while we whittled down the options (and gave great input and even a crash course in the vast world of Letterpress) and we were still provided with some final solutions we never even considered. I own a small stationery studio and would not go anywhere else for my letterpress needs than In to Ink. Their pricing is fair and customer service perfect. But what really sets In to Ink apart from other printers, particularly in the letterpress arena, is its owner Larry that is simply put -- an artist. He mixes the inks on site (very rare) and he will happily let you hover during a press check to make sure everything is perfect. They also "retain the right" to make further improvements after you leave the press check which is absolutely unheard of and after receiving the final product, I can say they live up to that promise.
