In White is both the first and last place I went - with some other stores thrown in between. At both of my dress appointments, I had an idea of the type of dress I was looking for, but tried on anything that the consultant or those with me pulled for me. I am over the moon happy with my dress, but even more so with the experience at In White. Doing my alterations there was incredibly easy. The team were very accommodating as last minute work travel affected my appointments, and they kept both the dress and veil onsite until I picked it up the day before the wedding. We had a wonderful experience at In White! My daughter had only a vague idea of what she wanted in a wedding gown, so the assistant patiently brought a wide variety of dresses to choose from. Gradually, my daughter began to narrow her options. They were so kind and accommodating of the friends and family who came with her. She didn't choose the gown that first day, but on the 2nd visit, we were down to 2. As my daughter hemmed and hawed, the girl assisting us had Lauren close her eyes and visualize the ceremony. I love this bridal shop! They carry a great selection of dresses from great designers - Birnbaum & Bullock, Justin Alexander to name a few. The dresses carried here start at around $1,000 I think. The store is clean and has cute decor. I had an earlier appointment at the Lancaster Alfred Angelo store, and I have to say this store is a big step up. I couldn't believe how grungy Alfred Angelo was. But not this store! They likely won't carry the dresses in your size unless you get lucky, but they have ways to make the dresses fit well enough that you can make a selection. I tried on about 7 or 8 dresses and found the one! They ordered the dress for me in August and it came in in November. Since I live in Colorado, I won't be using them for my alterations, but everything else related to my experience has been lovely. I'm picking up my dress when I'm home for Christmas and can't wait! read more

Stay away from In White. I purchased a bridesmaid's dress from In White for $180 and it arrived with a stain on the front of the gown one week before the wedding in which I'm to be the Maid of Honor. Initially, In White was kind enough to ship my dress to me for a small fee since I couldn't make the trip back to Lancaster before the wedding. The packaged arrived on Friday, July 19th and, after bringing the box inside my home, I headed out to another wedding that I was attending. When I returned and opened the package for the very first time on Monday, July 22nd, I found a stain on the front of my gown. I contacted In White immediately upon finding the stain and provided a picture. They apologized and explained that they inspect gowns when they arrive so they don't know how this happened. They then said that the only thing they can do it try to remove the stain at their store. We agreed that I would drive out and bring the dress to them to work on. Because of this situation, I was going to be required to take additional time off from work and drive over 80 miles round-trip to bring the dress back to them. Therefore, I requested a partial refund to cover the additional costs that would come out of my pocket due to their mistake. Shari, who I believe is the owner of In White, responded that they would not be extending any type of refund to me. According to her, this gown was inspected not once, but TWICE, and "no stain was seen". Shari continued with: "Even though the gown was in your possession for 3 days before you wrote to us informing us of the stain, we are willing to help you remove the stain..." So, not only did In White send this gown to me with a stain on it, they had the audacity to accuse me of creating the stain myself in the time the gown sat in my house, unopened, in the original plastic packaging that they sent it in. Then, to top it off, they implied that they were doing me a favor by helping remove the stain at all. Unbelievable. In the end, I have decided to take the gown elsewhere to (hopefully) have this stain removed at an additional cost because I just can't imagine having to set foot in their store again. You've been warned. If you must order through In White, or if you have already placed an order, I urge you to inspect every inch of your gown the MOMENT you get your hands on it and document everything. Otherwise, In White will accuse you of being a liar to avoid being held responsible for their own mistakes. read more

Diverse, beautiful selection of dresses that start a little under $1,000. The staff is warm and welcoming, and when I went in with a few sample images and a general idea of what I wanted for my wedding day, they helped me find the perfect dress. Which sounds so cliche, right? But it really was the dress for me. I had gone to a few other stores, including David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo, but honestly for $200 more you can get a dress that just FEELS better - in fit, look, texture - everything. And the store itself is a HUGE step up from those other places - it's cozy, clean, contemporary. After our wedding, a few guests who are about to get married in different parts of the country asked me where I got my dress, because they wanted to visit the same boutique, and I told them all the trip back to quaint little PA will be well worth it, because they will undoubtedly find their perfect dress at In White, too. read more

I would highly recommend In White to any bride looking for a gorgeous wedding dress! I had already found my "dream dress" elsewhere and when no other boutique could get the style into their store, In White (Samantha in particular) was able to order it right way for me to purchase and have a 1st fitting in time to tailor for my wedding this June. When I arrived for my 1st fitting I was blown away by their beautiful selection of dresses, veils and wedding jewelry. I even thought that if I had gone in there prior to finding my dress, I may have pick another one! Samantha is fabulous, upfront, sweet and professional. Truly outstanding. She went above and beyond to meet all my dress needs in what I thought was very "last minute fiasco." Not only did she reassure me that everything would be fine, she delivered on it which took away all my timeline anxiety. She then surpassed my expectations by picking out the most stunning vail and bracelet for my big day. After disappointing interacting with different boutiques and their associates, Samantha was a breath of fresh air, joy to work with and in my opinion, model consultant within the wedding industry for such a meaningful purchase. First, the positive: In White has a wide selection of chic wedding dresses with a variety of price points in a bustling downtown Lancaster location (parking on a weekend can be very tough.) At first, our experience in purchasing my daughter's wedding dress started out great. We made an appt for a February Saturday morning for my daughter and her bridesmaids to utilize the spacious back showroom. Lovely room--but quickly realized we would be working with a disinterested, bored sales associate who honestly seemed to want to be anywhere but there. She silently helped my daughter in and out of the dresses--no smiles, very little chit chat, connection with my daughter's excitement. Somehow, we ended up finding a dress my daughter loved, so we did buy at In White that same day. I was so disappointed by the absence of any spark and connection. Plus, it's pretty darn tough to overlook a sour grumpy sales associate, when you've spent nearly $2,000! Fast forward to July when we picked up the dress. My daughter and I made some jokes before hand about "gee, we hope we get someone who likes their job today!" Nope We had a different dress consultant who had the same cranky attitude--stood silent, refused to let anyone zip/unzip the dress. Once again, In White disappointed. Long story short: Nice if pricey dresses (2 stars), but disinterested, grumpy sales staff. I was so nervous and full of anxiety over the experience, but as soon as I arrived and was greeted, I started to be come excited and felt very comfortable. I was fortunate to have Beth assist me the entire way, she was very kind, and patient with me and all my questions and self doubt; but I was also very fortunate to have her honesty as well. I only brought one friend with me, who I knew would be honest as well, but Beth fit right in like we had been friends for years. Even though I did not end up buying my dress here, this place was outstanding. I had an am appt new years eve and the shop was basically mine. This was the first place I tried a bridal dress on and I am so glad because the experience was wonderful. I think the girl helping me was Rachel but the owner Shari was there offering help too and it was so fun. They had a belt, a veil, a compliment everything! Bought my wedding dress here for my wedding in July of 2010. Had a wonderful experience. I would say I'm not the typical bride...not totally into the whole wedding dress shopping and wedding planning thing, but Shari and Michelle made me feel very comfortable in not only picking a dress, but also through the alterations. The ladies were very helpful when picking out the dress, making suggestions when I described where I was getting married, but also taking what I liked into consideration. They were not overbearing at all...which was a great thing. They knew when to step in, but also when to just step back. The alterations process was spectacular with Michelle. She really created a dress specifically for me through the changes she made to the dress. I trusted her 100%. She listened, but also gave her suggestions. She worked so well with my mom (which says a lot!) I knew that they cared about the dress being perfect before the big day and making sure I was comfortable and looked my best. read more

We searched high and low for my daughter's wedding dress. We finally went to what we thought was a small boutique in center city Lancaster. For such a small shop they had many many options in a wide price range. We were greeted at the door, offered a glass of wine and given personal attention the whole time. My daughter found a very unique gown that was perfect. I later went back and found a lovely mother of the bride gown. After trying on several dresses, my daughter chose one. We arranged a follow-up visit to try the dress on for my husband. Upon arriving for the appointment, the doors were locked, and we were asked which dress we were here for by the same sales lady from last week.....in other words, sales ladies were not prepared.! When we reminded them of the one dress, the ladies looked at each other and laughed responding: "Oh, we sold that one off the rack yesterday." It lacks all common courtesy, and business sense, to not call your potential client to inform them that their dress is not available to try on. We will be returning to Renaissance in York for excellent service, a well dressed sales staff and their demonstrated eagerness to please their clients and make the sale! read more

I came here to shop for/buy/get alterations on a bridesmaids dress. The entire process was seamless. The staff is very helpful and understanding (especially for the 1.5 hour commute I made for each fitting). They also will hold your dress from when it arrives to your final fitting if you get it in house which is super helpful. I would definitely recommend to any other brides or bridesmaids in the area. Hazel, the woman who helped me find my dress was extremely helpful in picking dresses that were figure flattering. She was not pushy like the rest of the bridal stores I went to. She really helped me with deciding the right dress for me. The owner, Shari, is awesome! It seems like she has every bride's name memorized! I came into In White without an appointment and she greeted me by my first name! I love it when shop owners do that. She is very accommodating and always extremely helpful. Maria, the seamstress is wonderful. She really knows her stuff. Every time I go into In White, they offer us a glass of wine or something to drink. They are very classy and remind me of a NYC boutique. I felt like other bridal salons just shoot you though like cattle. I feel fantastic in my dress from In White! I highly recommend Shari, Maly and all of the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful! Maria (seamstress) did a fantastic job on my rush order alterations. I had an unusual circumstance because I already had a dress from a shop in Elizabethtown. The alterations were terrible and I only got the dress back two weeks before my wedding. I called In White, explained my situation and they were so accommodating! Shari and Maly worked quickly to provide me with many beautiful dress options. I gave my original dress shop three tries to make it right, but the dress still fit poorly. So, with only 9 days until the wedding, I went back to In White and got a new dress. They were able to squeeze me in right away for a fitting with Maria. They had all alterations completed in a week! Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful. Shari and crew manage to take the stress out of EVERYTHING - at least when it comes to dresses, that is. From the moment I stepped into the store without an appointment in January, to changing our date and still agreeing to store my dress until the wedding, to everyone knowing who I am when I walk in, the entire In White experience has been worth the trip in from Philadelphia every time. Went here a few months ago when my sister was shopping for her wedding dress. I was impressed with their selection, a lot of beautiful quality gowns, which is better than what you normally find in other Lancaster County shops. Imagine my total anxiety when I realized that I, as a bit of a tomboy that hates being the center of attention, needed to go try on poofy lacy white dresses and figure out what I'll be wearing on my wedding day. A lot of anxiety was had. Until I walked into In White! The shop is well sized and well organized. The dresses are gorgeous and very fashion forward (in my humble opinion). They actually have a Pinterest page where you can virtually shop for dresses before coming into the store. Once in the store, you are treated very well, and the dresses are actually organized by price. Unlike my other dress shopping experiences, I was actually encouraged to take my time and think about things, was never pressured, and was given honest opinions. I was also supported in sticking to my budget. Unlike some shops, they are very helpful for those with out of town relatives/friends and allow pictures and video (like Skype) - some shops I had called do not allow pictures at all! I cannot say enough good things about my shopping experience here. I also found that their prices were very reasonable, especially considering their selection and size. The worst experience I've had at any bridal boutique. Went there today to look at bridesmaids dresses with 3 of my bridesmaids. We were running about 10 minutes late but called 15 minutes prior to let them know we would be late they said no problem at all. We get there and apologized again for being late they said don't worry about and it wasn't a problem. We get taken back to an area and told we might share with another party coming in which is fine we wouldn't mind at all. Our "consultant" took us to the bridesmaid dress room let us pick from the dresses and took them to a room. They only had sizes 8,10,12 so only 1 of the girls could try on which again not a game changer. We got done picking the dresses and were told they were back in the room waiting for us. Our "consultant" never came to help with the dresses I ended up putting the bridesmaid in dresses and clipping her in. Which I've never heard of. The "consultant" came back once to get dresses we didn't want and put them away. Never asked us how it was going or if we needed anything or any help. We went to two other boutiques that day and had a much better time ! The dresses are in poor condition. Very disappointed. If you want to basically be the consultant than this might be for you. Otherwise choose elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience getting my bridesmaid dress at In White! I herniated a disc in my back 5 weeks before the wedding I was in and live over an hour from the boutique. I hadn't picked up my bridesmaid dress yet and knew it would need to be altered. In White got me in and I was fitted for my alterations. Two weeks later I came back for what I thought was a pickup but was actually a second fitting. The dress was a bit too large and needed more alterations. As luck would have it, I was scheduled for back surgery two days later (a mere three weeks before the wedding) so this was my last chance to get the dress. The ladies at In White completed my alterations within an hour and steamed the dress as well so it was ready to go for the wedding. This was extremely helpful and saved my family and I a lot of headaches about how we could get the dress in time. Thank you In White! I went to In White to get a dress for my daughter's wedding. Maly was my consultant. I was able to tell her what I was looking for. Not a typical mother's dress. She understood exactly what I wanted and they had a few different choices! Their measurements were accurate and the dress I got needed minimal alterations to fit perfectly. Carmen, the seamstress is awesome! I wanted some changes made to make it exactly how I wanted it to be and she completely understood what changes needed to be made. She also told me I should have it shorter than I was asking. I was uncertain, so she did what I thought I wanted. However, she was right! Changes were made painlessly and its perfect! Excellent customer service! I had a great experience here finding my wedding dress and doing my fittings. Very professional, kind, and knowledgeable staff. The seamstress, Maria, is very talented. The quality of the work and service really sets this place apart from the big box stores where you might find cheaper gowns. I ordered a bridesmaids dress here, but live out of state. I called to provide measurements, but they insisted that I complete my order online. The entered my measurements online, but it would not allow me to get my usual size - instead, it only gave me the option to order a size up and extra length because the dress I was ordering "runs small". Well, I got my dress, paid an extra $20 for extra length, and it is too long and too big. They will not allow me to return this dress because it is a special order - even though I didn't want it to be special ordered in the first place. Now I have to pay extra for alterations... to make it back to the size/length I wanted to begin with. Bummer. read more
