My daughter and I drove almost an hour today to Renaissance Bridal to look for a homecoming dress, and unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. My daughter is a little plus size, and upon arrival, the person who appeared to be the owner greeted us at the door. Instead of welcoming us, she looked my daughter up and down, rolled her eyes, and said, "We do not carry her size." This was said in front of other customers, leaving my daughter embarrassed and feeling shamed, when this should have been a special mother-daughter experience. If Renaissance Bridal chooses not to carry sizes for all body types, it would be respectful to clarify that on their website so families don't make long trips only to be turned away. It's also common practice for bridal and formal shops to carry at least a few plus-size options so every young woman has a chance to feel included. Thankfully, our day ended on a positive note. We later visited David's Bridal and Lilla's Bridal, where my daughter was given plenty of beautiful options to try on. The staff and owner at Lilla's, in particular, went above and beyond with kindness, and my daughter found the perfect dress there. I would highly recommend Lilla's Bridal--or truly any other shop--over Renaissance Bridal. Every young woman deserves to feel welcome and celebrated when shopping for such an important occasion. read more

Fantastic experience here! I came with my mom on a Monday afternoon. Jon and Beth got the job done and they did it well. When you make an appointment, it has to be done via email. The email conversation with Beth was pretty short and I wasn't sure what to expect. As requested, I called when I arrived and they told us where to park (free parking in the back). They unlocked the back door for us and we were greeted by really nice Frank Sinatra music and a very well kept old building with great architecture. The ambiance here was not like any other place we visited (and we went to 5 places total). Jon listened attentively to exactly what I wanted and explained his entire process. He brought out dresses one at a time and I was actually shocked with how he was really able to hit the nail on the head. There was no one else in the shop and I was really able to take my time and evaluate every detail of every dress. Jon was very helpful and listened well. At one point he brought out a dress to use as a color comparison and I asked to try it on. This ended up being "the dress." Beth arrived shortly after to take my measurements. She was also pleasant and helpful. I wasn't 100% sure I was going to get the dress, as I had one more appointment later in the week and wanted to see it through. They were very understanding. Jon actually followed up with me via text the same day I made the decision to get the dress so I called in and placed the order. Now we wait :) If you are looking for a dress shopping experience where the salespeople are going to be very upbeat, chatty, overly excited, and ask you for your life story, this isn't the place for you. Went to Renaissance a few weeks ago with my daughter to find the perfect wedding dress and boy did we succeed! Many thanks to John and his undivided attention to my daughter. First off, Jon is the best. And I mean that in the most sincere way. As soon as I walked in the door, I immediately felt like he really wanted to make my appointment THE MOST personal, joyful and beautiful experience. But with being in such a stressful time and not being able to run business as usual due to the virus, he somehow turned that into an incredibly positive experience! He was able to sit down with me one-on-one to really understand what I was looking for so he could help me find exactly what I had envisioned (and more). The fact that we got to be the only bridal party there at the time made it such a relaxing and easy-going experience! It also felt really safe, because they are very careful with masks adorned, and keeping everything very sanitary. You can absolutely tell that they care deeply for their customers. The most impressive part, is that I could tell he really cared and was giving me his undivided attention, because the very first dress he pulled was the dress that made me say YES! I'm one of the most indecisive people. He wasn't pushy, and made sure that I was coming to my own conclusions about what I liked with each dress. He asked me questions per our consultation and let me come to my own conclusions about what I wanted. I had struggled at an appointment at another bridal salon for not knowing what I wanted, but here, he helped to make it the most enjoyable and easy experience. I called this boutique on a Thursday around 1pm. Whomever I spoke to was incredibly rude. I was inquiring about the sample sizes they carry. Normal questions. This lady seemed bothered. She then brushed me off by saying, "You need to make an appointment and we only do that online." Great, but thanks for not answering my few questions. Totally worth the drive. The location of the shop is beautiful. Selection is over the top! Staff treats you with dignity and respect and really listens to your needs and wants. I would recommend this shop to anyone out there that is looking for a beautiful prom/wedding/special occasion piece. My 17 year old daughter dreaded the idea of prom dress shopping. I highly recommend Renaissance. I scheduled an initial appointment to try on wedding gowns with just myself and best friend to really just get a feel for what I may like to wear as a bride (as I had no prior experiences before coming to Renaissance with trying on wedding gowns). Jon is truly an expert in the field and an artist with what he does. He talked to me before trying on gowns to get a feel for my personal style, the style of the wedding, and overall budget and made the whole process of trying on gowns enjoyable. I ended up finding the perfect dress that I couldn't imagine not getting and had to say yes that day. Since my mom and matron of honor were not there for this appointment, the salon was accommodating to schedule another appointment quickly to try on the dress and pop some bubbly with them in attendance. The owner of this business is threatening to evict tenants during the COVID 19 pandemic. One of her tenants told her that they couldn't afford to pay rent because of not being able to work, unemployment checks not going through and that they had to prioritize food and bills first. The tenant was met with hostility and called trash and a free loader despite always paying rent on time. This is an incredibly disgusting way to treat people especially right now. I am plus size and have very large boobs (40 G) and was looking for a prom dress. This was the third shop i went to looking for a dress. After i came into the shop i was greeted very nicely they asked what size i wore and brought me up to a top room where they carried all the dresses in my size. I showed the lady what kind of dresses i was looking at and then i pulled some dresses that i liked but nothing was really what i was feeling. Most of the dresses were hurting my boobs and i was getting sick of the large a-line tool ball gowns. As i was expressing this the lady was very annoyed and seemed angry. I was asking questions like do you have this in a bigger size and she would just explain to me how i can just get it altered. But the purpose of buying a dress is for it to already fit not to make it fit. If I'm already buying a dress i want it to fit from the get go especially when I'm dropping 500$ on it. Some of the dresses i liked came in different colors but the lady made it seem as if i couldn't try the same dress on but in different colors. And once i was asking for a different material such as satin my sister and I ended up just looking for it instead of her pulling it. My prom is in may and it is January meaning that the shop has the ability to order the dress i want in my size but they said they were unable to. The stylist seemed as if she was scared and incompetent to style someone of my stature. Overall i am disappointed in the selection for plus size women (especially after I found bigger selections elsewhere ie Davids bridal, synchronicity boutique and Clare's bridal) the treatment and annoyance portrayed towards me (my sister last year bought her prom dress from here and was not treated like this) and the inability for the women to even try and sell. I drove up to Renaissance Bridals from Baltimore because I knew that they carried some of the designers I was liking. It was the first appointment I made at any wedding dress shop. I didn't expect I would find my dress, but I did! Michaela was fantastic to work with! I was nervous starting off but I showed her some pictures of what I liked and she started pulling dresses. I honestly liked every one that she picked out for me. We had our own private dressing room with seating for my guests and large mirrors complete with appropriate lighting. They offered us mimosas and desserts when we came in and we had a champagne toast when I "said yes to the dress". I never thought this experience would be as simple as they made it for me, and now I have ordered my wedding dress! I highly recommend that people check it out! read more

Jon aka Jonathan is the absolute best. He made my daughter feel special. He listened to what she wanted, explained the "process" of telling him what she likes or doesn't like about a dress and pulled out dresses that couldn't have been more perfect for her. She decided on the very first dress he selected and her face just lit up when she saw herself in it. He was very accommodating and really worked to find what she had in mind. He appreciates his customers and realizes that brides come in all shapes and sizes and all are special and beautiful. As her mom, I was so happy for her and very satisfied with how everything went. I purchased my prom dress from this shop, and my cousin purchased her wedding dress from this shop. This was the only bridal salon that I REALLY wanted to try dresses on at, and I live over an hour away. I called to make an appointment and was told I'm only allowed two guests and got some attitude. My mother called after to see if we could work something out, and Beth yelled at her, "excuse me, we are in a pandemic!!". I understand rules to keep people safe, but I have not talked to another bridal shop with this low of a guest count. I will be taking my business and four guests elsewhere. I will never recommend this place again after how my mother and I were treated over the phone by Beth! Brides already have to deal with enough stress, and these tears were not necessary. My mom and I came here to look for Mother of the Bride dresses for her. We had SUCH a great experience here! At so many other places, they just point you in the direction of the dresses and you help yourself. Here, they dedicated a staff person to us to help with the try on process. Abby was SO helpful in clipping dresses for my petite mother and being able to tell use where/how the dress would fit in her size. It was such a wonderful, laid back experience. My sister tried on wedding dresses here this past weekend and it was a great experience. We were given our own little room in the back for her to try on dresses which was nice and private. After we settled in, one of the women that works there brought out mimosas for us to enjoy which was a nice touch. Julia did a fantastic job choosing dresses for my sister to try on. She selected dresses just like my sister had described. Julia wasn't pushy or opinionated which can often be the case in bridal salons. My sister found a lovely dress at an excellent price but she still has a couple more shops she wants to check out before making her final selection. Beth pulled the most gorgeous dresses, and she paid attention to my likes and dislikes and took that into consideration as she pulled items for me to try on. My estranged sister was shopping for a prom dress dress for her estranged daughter (complicated situation, I know LOL!!), and She came across this bussiness. She said the dresses were TACKY and judging from the pictures, she was rite! (BURN!) we hadn't talked in YEARS but she took up a lot of our conversations just talking about dress shopping some of us have real issues Barb SMH! At first the staff was nice when I arrived and helped me to pick out prom dresses. There were no dresses under $400, which was a little shocking to me and some other girls who were there trying on. Any cute dress was around $600, all the ones under that were plain and simple. Once I tried on some dresses I was making decisions about them and the staff started to become really rude. One of the staff members told another that they could go home since "nobody was buying" even though that was never even stated. At one point the one employee came over and took the dress I was thinking of buying out of my fitting room, without saying anything, and put it back on the rack rudely. She walked back up to the front desk, stopped helping me and other girls, and when I needed to ask a question she rudely ignored me. I would have bought a dress if the employees were not so rude. I was not going to make a decision on one $500 dress in a couple minutes. I would not reccomend coming here unless your budget is extremely high and you make decisions very quickly, otherwise the staff will treat you horribly. read more

While I loved the gown, bridesmaid dresses, and shoes I got from here, I wish I could have found them somewhere else. Every time I went in to the store they made me feel like the could care less that I was there and kept forgetting who I was even when I made appointments. They were not helpful at all through the entire process. When my group purchased the bridesmaid dresses, they said they would send me a swatch of the material that I could use for matching purposes with florists, bakery etc. They said it would come in about two weeks. One month later, nothing. I called and they re-ordered it and then it took another three weeks to come in the mail. The alterations also left much to be desired. One bridesmaid paid $45 to have her dress taken in, and it was still hanging off her on the wedding day. My junior bridesmaid paid $60 to have straps put on her dress and we ended up fixing them at home because not only were they poorly sewn in, but one strap was longer than the other! To put the icing on the cake, the shoes that I spent $90 on did not make it through the rehearsal. The heel caps came off and the nails pushed down through the heels. I had to take it to a local shoe repair shop to have them fixed the morning of my wedding because when we called Renaissance they would do nothing about it. They gave us the number of the manufacturer and when we called the manufacturer they said they don't deal with the public and the bridal shop would have to replace or reimburse the shoes. Nothing like getting the run around! I have been to other bridal shops in the area (for example Lila's) and received much better service. For example, Lila's managed to make me feel special even when I was just a bridesmaid in a friends wedding. They are kind, helpful, and do an incredible job on alterations. I wish I would have found my dress there instead. Bottom line: If you want your wedding dress experience to be special, stress- free, and you don't want to be treated like a second class citizen, do not shop at Renaissance. read more

Dresses are beautiful, and that first appointment is filled with sweet conversation and mimosas, but beyond that it's ALL BUSINESS with one of two co-owners Beth. This is a special wedding with unique circumstances for my daughter, and it was almost ruined by Beth. My daughter is alive by the grace of God, and her wedding will be a day to celebrate life. She's survived a liver transplant, been to the White House, met President George W. Bush and even started a non-profit ministry at the age of 12. She's not your ordinary bride. Renaissance Bridal's co-owner Beth was unreasonable, disrespectful, insensitive, rude, threatening and simply unkind. I would NEVER recommend Renaissance Bridal to anyone. NEVER. If you are not only looking for the perfect dress (which I promise you will find here as they have a huge collection), but that memorable and sentimental experience, this is the bridal shop for you! I went to three other shops before going to Renaissance, and not one of them had what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, I tried on a lot of beautiful dresses along the way, but I felt like each shop either did not understand what I was looking for, or did not have the types of dresses I was seeking. Needless to say, I was discouraged and losing hope. I had quite the opposite experience at Renaissance. I sent over a couple of pictures and descriptions of what I liked before my scheduled appointment, and the only place to look at them before my arrival was Renaissance. In fact, Julia already had a bunch of dresses pulled based on what I sent to her, so she did not waste time! I felt like a VIP! Upon our arrival, they offered us mimosas, and created a very relaxing yet exciting environment to try on the dresses. Julia was amazing! It is so obvious she really has a passion for what she does... and is great at it! Within the first 3 dresses, I had 3 dresses I could have walked out with and been happy! She took her time and put me in each of those 3 dresses multiple times! I never felt rushed or pressured! She truly cared more about you feeling amazing in what you were wearing on the big day and less about making a sale. It was clear they wanted me to know that it was the perfect dress for me! Not to mention they stayed well within my budget. I said "yes" to the dress, and am so blessed to have done so at such a great place with such great people! We came in without an appointment but they took care of us right away. It was beautiful inside and there were tons of dresses to choose from. I was looking for a prom dress and they were sorted by size and color which was very helpful- no falling in love with a dress and then being disappointed when you check the size. Although I didn't buy my dress there, it was a great experience. This was due to Abby, the employee that pulled dresses for me. She was really kind and especially helpful when it came to helping with the complicated backs that some dresses have. She didn't rush me and gave her much needed input for all of them. My two daughters are in a wedding in August 2017. They were fitted for dresses January 2017. The rest of the wedding party was out of state and we're also fitted in January. They received their dresses in March and April. We picked up the dresses last week. The bride never received a call that the second dress was done to be picked up. My daughter called to verify they had both dresses before we made the hour drive. The one dress had three snags and stitching was not straight. the other dress, some of the pleats were missing tabs. I asked renaissance bridal what they could do. I knew it was too late to get replacements but I was looking for some type of alteration or compensation. They called the owner who said she does not give out refunds and the fabric was delicate they did not want to touch them. I would stay clear of renaissance bridal in York. Each dress was $250. read more

Our initial visit, Bride, MOH, MOB was very pleasurable, and my daughter found her dream bridal gown. From that point on, everything went downhill. We made an appointment to return to pick the bridesmaids gowns. We then made a third appointment and brought the bridal party to be fitted only to find out that the dress had been discontinued the day before our appointment. You would think they would have called to tell us to give us the opportunity to cancel the appointment. Since four of the five bridesmaids had traveled from out of town/state, we then had the chore, again, of picking out a dress. It was not the pleasurable experience we had had initially. Besides everyone being disappointed that they could not get the dress they had initially chosen, the appointment was very rushed and unprofessional. After a very stressful appointment, the bridal party finally settled on a dress and five of them were ordered. When the dresses came into the shop, the bride picked them all up so that she could deliver them to each of the girls, to save the four of the five of them from having to travel back in from out of town/state. When the MOH received her dress and took it out of the bag, she found a large hole in the lining of the dress near the front slit. After trying the gown on, it was obvious how the eye hooks on the back of the dress were sewn on completely out of alignment, causing to dress to not lay right. It was also obvious the the dress had not even been pressed. The zipper laid wide open. The bride then called Renaissance to inquire about assistance with the dress. She was told that the owner said it was not their problem as the bride had signed for the dresses when she picked them up. The bride was not told that she needed to inspect each of the dresses inside and out before signing for them. She obviously would not have been able to see that the dresses were not going to lay properly without the bridesmaids there to try them on at the time. Beware! We spent thousands of dollars on the bridal gown and five bridesmaids dresses, yet they offer no service or support once your dress is paid for. It's all about the money! read more

Pros: Staff knowledgeable, huge inventory, one-stop shop, and costs reasonable. Cons: definitely try to up-sell (which isn't always bad, unless you feel like only a dollar sign) and lack of personal service after the sale. Overall had a positive experience helping my daughter select her wedding dress. We had been to a couple of shops and my out-of-town daughter was overwhelmed. The owner helped her narrow her choice with his unbiased perspective and she was able to say "yes to the dress." At a later date we also bought the veil. Only negative, after the sales, upon pickup, there were no well wishes or excitement shown for the impending event. True, such interactions are not necessary; but after spending a fair amount of money, smiles and pleasant conversation go along way in affirming your selections. That being said, the dress and veil were beautiful and exactly what my daughter wanted. read more

My bridal party & I had a great experience here. We were greeted promptly & asked if we'd like a drink (mimosas, coffee, etc). The woman helping me at my appointment asked me for my price range (and never showed me anything outside of it!), photos and descriptions of what I like, and asked about me, my fiancée, and where the wedding was at; she genuinely seemed to care and paid attention to what I was saying. They have a really big selection of gowns (atleast in my range of under $1500) and accessories. I even came back a few hours after my appointment to try on a dress a 2nd time and they were able to accommodate me. Everyone was very accomidating, friendly, and professional. read more
