The employee then yelled ' well you can't sit there'...the benches were completely empty with only a few people standing outside. Is this a common practice? Running off potential customers to preserve a few benches that aren't being used? If so, it's a terrible business model. Also train your employees to have a better customer service disposition to potential customers. He could have easily said 'Can I interest you all in a tour?'...but no he had to show us who was in charge and ran us off. But cool with me. I don't want to patronize places like this anyway. There is a million things to do in this city.

We reserved our tickets in advance but had until 2-3 days beforehand to cancel with NO penalty. We received several reminder emails with day-of instructions. We arrived right at an hour before our ride, which gave us ample time to park, find our train car location, stroll through the downtown area and grab pre-ride drinks. We boarded with no issues about 30 minutes before the ride started and were pulling out of the station a minute or so after 3pm. Jordan was amazing! So knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. We were in a closed car - HIGHLY recommended for the summer months and on a train that travels about 15 MPH - and sat across from the sweetest couple celebrating their nephew's 3rd birthday. The hour out and hour return seemed to fly by! It was so interesting to learn more about the history of the area, as well as see SO MANY people out tubing, swimming, kayaking, spending time with family, fishing or just watching the train go by. Again, so worth the drive. We did pack ample snacks but the snack car is well stocked with refreshments (and alcohol). Several groups purchased pizza and other snacks from the downtown area and brought them on board. Do whatever tickles your fancy. A great adventure. For couples. Families. Kiddos. Small groups. Anniversaries. And MORE!

This former train depot was built by Louisville and Nashville Railroad company in the late 1890 or…read moreso. I couldn't find an exact date but there are photos of the depot from 1910. In the photos it shows not only a small waiting room but also storage space for farmers to store goods that could be transported out of town for sale. (There were no bathrooms in the original design) This depot definitely was built before the Woodstock one which was built in 1912..... The good citizens of Holly Springs begin restoring this place to its original glory in 1999. According to the city's website they spent quite a bit of time trying to restore it as historically accurately as possible. No detail was too minute. Even the roof was restored to its former glory thanks to phots from J. B. Owen (a park in Holly Springs is named after him) who was the last ticketing agent before the depot was closed. It is now a event space for rent. Clean, cheap, safe, direct travel. I would rate the stop a 5 because it has tons of parking, is well lit, has an indoor lobby with seating and clean restrooms, and during the day - a food court. It's also located in the same parking lot as a city bus stop, so I imagine it would be easy to catch transportation from there. However, while I waited for my bus to Lexington, which was 40 minutes late, I saw the bus to Atlanta arrive, about 20-30 minutes late. So this doesn't seem to be a stop that is dependable for its schedule. The bus ride itself was fine but there were lots of people with obnoxious ring tones and text message alerts on their phones, which was particularly unwelcome at midnight on an overnight bus ride in which I'd hoped to sleep. As usual, THE BUS WAS FREEZING!!! But I've learned to dress for winter anytime I ride a Megabus. The bus arrived in Lexington 1 hour behind schedule (6:00 am instead of 4:55 am) but I wasn't on a tight schedule personally, so the hour delay was worth the convenience and price to me. This Megabus experience was very different than my (totally positive) Megabus experiences in Texas, but I would still recommend it for people with lots of time and not much money! ;)

When I finally got someone to move their personal items, it was a bit uncomfortable crunching both of us in-- especially as I was trying not to touch my already annoyed seat mate. These problems were exacerbated by the fact that there was no overhead storage for your bags so they had to be held in your lap or placed on the floor. I will say that I appreciated the free Wi-Fi and plugs at every seat, though-- Getting to watch some NetFlix for 2 hours did distract me long enough to get home.

This cuts out the $50 a day for hotel parking, the Doraville station has surface & parking deck areas, two nights was $16. Lenox station is cheaper FYI. I had only rode Marta one other time before this and it was over 10 years prior, I was mainly traveling solo on Marta this time. For the Doraville station be sure not to park in the front parking as this is NOT overnight and you will be towed. The ticketed parking is just beside with minimal security. Doraville is the gold line that goes into Lenox where the race starts; our stop was Peachtree center. The trick to going from Peachtree back to Lenox is to know that both red & gold run on same track, which I didn't. I got on the train saying North Springs and ended up at Medical Center before realized, rode back to Lindbergh then gold to Lenox. The train itself is minimally occupied unless a big event is going on. It was somewhat clean as meaning no visible trash. There are homeless persons all around the escalators underground and you may get accosted on the platform but just be smart. I put the Breeze mobile app on and bought 3 day pass for $16, my main issue was the QR code picking up on the scanner. Every time I dreaded it because would never scan on first, 2nd, maybe 3rd try if was lucky. Overall IMO, Marta is a deal at $2.50 to go all over the city pretty quickly. It can be a little sketchy at night but just be aware of surroundings.

But it's really nothing special. MARTA itself needs a lot of work and it's really outdated. The last time I was here, the elevator was broken so I had to carry hella luggage down the stairs and that was pretty disastrous. But it is what it is. If you're looking for affordable transportation to the airport and you don't wanna ask for a ride or can't find a ride, at least find a ride here so you can go from here.

One of the servers cleared our drinks while I was in the bathroom and somehow took my wristband with them. When we went to close out, the server refused to help us because one person no longer had their wristband even though it was THEIR staff who took it in the first place. Instead of trying to fix the situation, asking questions, or showing any level of customer service, she was rude, dismissive, and acted like she couldn't care less. The entire issue was caused by the staff, yet we were treated like it was our fault. Then they still expected a 20% tip after providing terrible service and zero effort to resolve the problem. Tips should reflect service, and this experience was awful from start to finish. Management seriously needs to train their staff on accountability and customer service because this was beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional.

Marta just replaced eliminated bases and DID NOT THINK TO TELL PAYING CUSTOMERS. Marta said for months there would be better routes, and that routes would change. There was no communication that they were eliminating buses at the station. This effects how people get to work, it that they care. Me and another customer asked why the bus was LATE, And he said it was because the route changes (so much for more frequent rides/times). Also, the imbecile who is driving the route does not even know how his schedule has changed. And didn't care about the people who were paying to ride his bus (they make you pay via credit card now). The customer service is atrocious, as is the homeless people who ruin the experience. If you are an visitor, DO NOT TRUST MARTA to get you where you need to go (or communicate adequately to assist you).

It's a pretty car-friendly city but for all the students in town these buses are clean and invaluable. Overall it's a decent network if not groundbreaking, but the bus from the airport (I've only taken it once) was a nightmare that took forever (never again). It reminded me of some of the awful buses to LAX and JFK, only Nashville doesn't have the excuse of being a huge endless metropolis. Anyway, My Tummy Aches.
