It's a breeze to get through security here. I arrived at 8:30am and was through in less than 5 minutes for standard TSA. It is a very clean airport , I could smell the Fabuloso while walking to my gate. Recommend eating before arriving as there is only 1 or 2 non chain food options to choose from. There are only 8 gates here and there are some direct flights but I personally couldn't get a direct flight to Houston and have to connect in Dallas. read more

One word to describe this airport would be small. But I love it as it makes it easier to get to and from where you're going much quicker, and there is a lot less people. We chose to fly into Chattanooga from Tampa Bay because of the price difference of flying into Nashville directly, and we also had never been to Chattanooga, so we thought we would spend time there as well. Eh. This is a great airport as I think there are only 8 gates. There is also only one bar and you can't have more than 2 drinks per hour, for a max of 6 drinks. So if you're in northern GA or eastern TN and looking to avoid ATL, this is a great option. The one bar is a hassle though. However, the service was great. They just abide by the rules. read more

Flying out of Chattanooga has always seemed like a breeze. Even with all of the remodeling done to the Chattanooga airport, it still is! Although there's not any direct flights to California, starting one's journey at the Chattanooga airport keeps things less stressful. Everyone has a pleasant demeanor, from the airline check-in staff to the security line staff. And there's a few food options to choose from if you get there super early before your boarding time. The bad is the poor communication from the airport to parking customers. My wife and I returned Thursday night from 6 day trip. I went to get my car from the parking deck to pick my wife and bags from the curb. Upon exiting the parking garage the airport had closed down the on site road to return to the terminal. This forces customers to completely drive off airport site to u turn to return to the terminal. This in my opinion is poor judgement on the part of the airport staff to close down the road and especially during the busiest travels days of the year for airport customers to be returning. CHA definitely gets the job done. I recently flew in and out of here during a brief weekend visit to Chattanooga, TN and I have to say even though it was small it had more to offer than most regional/metropolitan airports I have ended up in like VAL or AVL. Parking is easy, if needed, thanks to a relatively new parking garage and expanded parking facilities. There is a dedicated drop off and pick up point for rideshare users such as Lyft or Uber. When you enter you will notice the beautiful ceiling as you take a short escalator up to the TSA screening area. There is some major construction going on right now thanks to a $28 million terminal expansion - the largest in more than three decades at this airport according to their website. It will be home to an additional three jet bridges (there are currently 5,) full service restaurant, additional TSA screening area and even more. Post-security options here are a bit sparse at this time - I opted for a bacon and egg sandwich from "Tailwinds" for breakfast that I didn't enjoy at all and that was really the only disappointing part of my visit to CHA. They have a couple of other snack/coffee stands and a Cafe that I didn't get a chance to check out. There isn't much else to do here other than plane watch a little bit and relax while you wait to board a flight , so plan to entertain yourself. I enjoyed the free wifi offered and watched some YouTube until my plane arrived. The short journey from Atlanta to Chattanooga on my Delta flight was around 25 minutes - so it's extremely bearable. In general I have no major complaints about CHA and wouldn't hate to fly into/out of here again! read more

Chattanooga is such a small airport but they are currently remodeling. They have added a huge parking garage but there are still only 5 gates so you won't get lost. TSA is a breeze and if you have precheck they hand you a blue slip that let's the other agents know you don't have to take off your shoes and can go through the walk through scanner. I've never had a problem with the TSA agents but make sure of you have to check a bag you don't get there at the last moment because you will not be able to catch your flight. The same person who works checking in the bag is your gate agent. If you aren't checking a bag then you don't have to plan on a long wait time. The bathrooms are pretty clean and up to date amd they currently have one place to get food and it's airport prices so you already know it's overpriced. It's a Great airport for convenience if you are staying in the area otherwise fly into Atlanta or Knoxville. read more

This place is super tiny. My airport in Cali, you must get there at least 2 hours. Security in San Jose alone is 45 minutes to an hour and checking bags is 30-45 minutes. When I came here I was shocked that there was only one person in line. The lady who was at the check-in counter was very friendly and I was talking to her about the Navy and she thanked me for my service. We don't get that in Cali. I was shocked that there was only 6 terminals also. Make sure if you have a long flight ahead of you to get food before coming to the airport. If an airport can be "cute and convenient", this is it. Easy parking, all the big car rental companies, good proximity to the freeway and Chattanooga (plus within a couple hours of Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville). Flying to nine destinations by 4 airlines out of 5 gates, it can't get much simpler than Chattanooga Airport. Landing here for the first time a few days ago, I was impressed. Clean, spacious, quick, efficient. Even beautiful. The car rental garage across the street was convenient and everyone I encountered was extremely friendly. Departing out of the airport today was similarly impressive-- easy access, clean, quiet, relaxed, friendly.... But the seemingly short line at security was deceiving and seemed to move at a turtle's pace. Going through a separate line for TSA Pre check, I was handed a blue slip of paper after showing my ID and boarding pass, then sent to the singular security line to the x-ray machines. Those without the blue slips unpack, remove liquids, belts, shoes, laptops, etc... they proceed through the millimeter wave scanner. Those of us with blue slips wait our turn to place bags on the belt and then pass through the walk-through metal detector. Waiting for my bag on the other side, I watched the TSA in action, which appeared to be in slow-motion compared to what I'm used to seeing at almost every other airport. All-in-all, this slow process is isn't a big deal, in fact, it complements the laid back atmosphere of CHA airport. It's also not a complaint. However, it is the one thing that kept me from giving my experience a 5-star review. In the gate areas, the seating is plentiful and comfortable, the atmosphere is more akin to a quiet library than a hub of transportation. It's great. Do I recommend this airport? Yes, absolutely. Will I be back myself? Yes, almost certainly. read more

CHA is very small but efficient! They only have one TSA line, and evidently no Pre-Check, however the line moves very quickly. The terminal has 4 or 5 gates, but CHA can accommodate more planes on the tarmac, as my early morning flight to Charlotte boarded outside. I actually love how small this airport is! Arrival was easy, although I didn't check any bags. Bathrooms were clean and more than large enough. The car rental corridor was short & sweet, just off the escalator. Parking also seemed sufficient, and the lots appeared well-marked. I did not have an opportunity to try the available concessions, but I did notice a large counter open, even before 6am, serving breakfast. read more

Who doesn't give this airport 5 stars??? It's cute, small, easy to navigate. 4 airlines, 5 gates. You don't have to get there a million hours early and you don't have to wait in lines. It's basically like the airport from the show Wings. Everyone is super friendly and there is a little restaurant that has a great selection of food and drinks. There are several rental car options. I went with Thrifty and got a brand new 2021 Dodge Charger with temp plates and 29 miles on it. Pick up your car paperwork and turn around and your luggage is coming out behind you. Chattanooga is also a super fun city, you know, if you want to do something besides hang out in the airport! read more

The smallest airport I've flown into (5 gates), on the smallest plane I've ridden yet. This airport is quiet, clean, calm, and not at all crowded. TSA and check in were a breeze on a weekday afternoon. Polite and chipper TSA agents too. They have rocking chairs all over the place like at a freaking Cracker Barrel, I love it. Some art hangs on the walls, nicely done video adverts for their top notch aquarium, a model plane case, and some real boats and race cars on display. Didn't see too many food options which makes sense, but they do have a big sweeping bright dome ceiling with a skylight. read more

Easy airport to get in and out of because of the size. TSA was amazing, and super friendly! I have to say, I had one of the BEST breakfast sandwiches at their little food stall, a double with sausage on wheat which was basically two sausage Patties with eggs and cheese. Also had a great cup of coffee! Great service as well which seems like a thing here. Nice! The only reason I give it 4 stars was the bathrooms weren't great. Out of soap and paper towels. There are no TSA precheck options, so be prepared to take off your shoes. No, you won't have to wait through your "normal non TSA precheck" sized line. The lines here are quick and about the length of the usual TSA precheck line at big airports. Yes, CHA is a small airport, but not near as small as LEX... it's about double the size of LEX. I love my small airports though. If you're flying Delta and prechecking, you might not automatically get a ticket for you connecting flight. I waited in the Delta line, which luckily was only two people deep, only to learn that the connecting flight ticket from ATL to LEX didn't yet have the ticket available and would be ready in ATL. That threw me for a loop. The taxi and pickup area was a bit of a cluster though. Especially since there didn't appear to be that many flights coming in at the time of my arrival. Luckily, I spotted my Lyft driver quickly and threw my bag in the car all while she was pulled in the middle of the lanes. There wasn't any parking spots in the taxi/pickup area for her to pull into, so we made due. One final note, it's about 30 minutes to downtown Chattanooga and about a $20 Lyft ride or $17 for Uber... that was three notes. read more

Thank you to the flight attendant that had the nerve to refuse to fly on the plane that American Airlines knew 2 days ago was not safe to fly. You probably saved so many lives. American Airlines Center you should be out right ashamed of your negligence. This has nothing to do with the servers going down. And it's super sad your staff at the Chattanooga Airport is so disrespectful to stranded passengers. The only person willing to help was a new gate agent who has only been with AA for less than a month! The supervisor was the worst human I have dealt with in a very long time! Downsides - nothing open anywhere inside or gas stations outside at 6am, so early means paying $10 a gallon. Also no TSA Pre, so the one line for all... As a small regional airport, this place serves it's purpose well and with no fuss. There's only 4 gates, being served by United, American, and Delta airlines. There are rental car counters right in the airport, with the cars themselves being in several lines right adjacent to the airport. There's one security checkpoint, and the only advantage of TSA precheck is being able to keep on your shoes. The good thing is that you can be through security in just a few minutes. There's a generic all purpose food and snack kiosk where you can get drinks, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, magazines, and a few other things. The prices for most of the items are super expensive compared to other airports, even considering that all airports have a markup. There's no WiFi and very few places to charge devices. I would definitely fly through CHA if in the area again, but be extra mindful of bringing snacks. read more

It's been a while since last review so decided to update it with all the improvements to this small town feel airport. First, airport parking had an update and made a great improvement for those rainy days. They now have a covered sidewalk that goes both directions into the two long term lots. So those long walks can be made semi dry on those days. The secondary long term lot has been increased so more parking there. Inside the entire airport had a refresh and looks great. Added power connections near center gates and some lounge chairs if you have a longer wait for your flight. Delta now has a 30 minute bag guaranty but not sure what happened if it misses the window. So far they have been less than 15 minutes from getting off plane. In September United starts non-stop service to Chicago and NYC so that might help with other prices for those routes. Even with all the TSA changes you can still checkin and get through security in 15 minutes here. Only slower times might happen oddly during off peak times when less TSA on duty. I travel in and out of the Chattanooga Airport quite often and it is always a pleasure. The recent changes make it one of the nicest small airports I have been in and trust me I have been in many!! For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is easy on and off Highway 153, which is just 2 exits off I-75. They have short, intermediate and long term parking. When you first arrive, Long term will be on your left, followed by short term. If you want to pay a few extra dollars per day, Intermediate parking puts you closer to the airport and will be on your right, right before you get to the terminal. I park there but quite honestly, none is far away. When you enter the terminal, they have check-in to your right and baggage claim, taxis and rental cars to your left. Ticket counters all have Self Service Kiosk and check in normally does not take long. Security does not have a separate Pre Check line, but when you get to the TSA Agent and you qualify as Pre-Check, they give you a yellow card which you give to the agent when you go through the monitors. You get to keep your shoes on but still have to remove liquids and computers from your bag. The terminal itself has five gates, a great little restaurant, full bar and seating area while you wait for your flight to leave. They have plenty of charging stations, great seating area, TVs and most important, FREE WIFI . It almost makes you want to get to the airport real early. When you arrive, you will go right off the escalator and your bags will normally arrive within 10 minutes.. .Yes, I am a fan of Chattanooga and the improvements made to the airport over the years are of the highest quality. Car rental closest to terminal are Hertz and then Avis. There's no gas station close to the airport - plan ahead. As of May 14 TN gas is cheaper than GA by more than a few pennies - use a site like GasBuddy to get details. So those were my tips. Here's another: don't rent from Alamo. I had one HORRIBLE experience where I waited 45 minutes (both in line and waiting for an actual car to be there, even though we had a reservation). The airport itself is clean, bright, and spacious. Just remember to gas up before bringing the car back, since there is no easy access to a gas station around, at least not driving from Georgia. So, do your homework before hand and find out where you want to gas up and not pay $6 a gallon. Happy travels! Oh the airport! The airport is fine - lovely building, renovated to further improve. Easy to get in and out of. Can't go wrong if you're coming to this neck of the woods or even others close by. read more

I've flown out of CHA a lot over the last few years and have been to numerous other airports. Without question, Chattanooga has the best regional airport. It's not too crowded. They do have 2 TSA lines available if the needed based on throughput. They claim to not be a TSA Precheck Airport but they do give you a purple card and you can leave shoes on and such. Pre doesn't apply to your carryon bags though, so be ready to take out your iPad and snacks so they can inspect them. I'm a ham radio operator and have brought radio gear in my carryon before and have never been questioned. The X-ray tech does give my bag some strange looks though. I don't pay for my flights but even if I did, Chattanooga Airport would be my starting and stopping point. Give them a try! read more

The reason we take time to get TSA pre is because we like to get through faster and not step down. Don't bother at this airport. Greetings from Tennessee... every year i fly here to see my folks but this is the first time i flew into Chattanooga's Lovell Field Airport... talk about a rinky dink little airport... this was it!!! although maintained like most airports very clean nothing in disrepair... the size was just so remarkably small... there seemed to be only three spots for planes to pull up to load and unload passengers... as soon as i got of the plane and made a left because to the right was the other two entrances for the other planes. Maybe 50 ft was the security check point and the exit to passenger and luggage pickup... Woo hoo... there's my Mom and Pop, waiting for me as always with big smiles and hugs.... so good to be home with them... even-though Florida is where i was born and Georgia is where i grew up... read more

I'd you don't want to deal with the hassle Hartsfield has to offer, I suggest leaving from here. Very convenient if you don't want to drive you can always have a layover in Atlanta and start your trip there. Parking is rather small but the airport is rather small too, so it's convenient sized for it. I am a plane enthusiast so I wish there were spot to go plane spotting, security is just as easy as it gets, there's hardly any lines so waiting is not an issue. Not much options to eat inside once past security, so if you're hungry I suggest eating before. (Unless this has changed recently) Quite a few auto rental agencies within the premise so if that was needed you can always catch one of the reps and rent a vehicle. I like this airport bc it's more convenient to me 40 minute drive rather than 1.5-2.0 hrs to Atlanta. read more
