Incognito had our car for 2 months. They did not fix it. Instead, they left it on the street with expired inspection stickers to collect parking tickets. We called in advance to ask if they fix Priuses. Now, they are saying they don't fix them, and we need to take it to the dealership. We stopped using them years ago, because they fix something and charge you $1,000 without asking for approval. So, if you go there for inspection, they charge you to replace a radiator which breaks within a year. Another time they fixed the wrong lock in our door. They made us pay for fixing the locks on the right and left hand side. Plus, they made us run to the locksmith and get the parts. It took them a month to fix our car that time. We live super close, and we could have parked our car in our driveway for 2 months. Dave won't accept responsibility, and he just blamed us for our car being parked on the street and not getting fixed. He has the only set of keys for the car, so I'm not sure what he thought we were suppose to do with our non working car. read more

This shop is great. They're really smart with the diagnostics-- I had a separate professional run a computer diagnostic on my car, and decided to just see what the tech at Incognito would say rather than sharing the diagnostic. He was able to correctly identify the problem by hearing/ seeing/ doing a quick manual test in a matter of minutes. I have taken my car here three times and am NEVER upsold on stuff. The dealership told me twice that I needed a catalytic converter (to the tune of a couple thousand dollars), but the folks at Incognito have diligently made necessary smaller repairs first to rule out all other offenders before selling me a new one. It's been 2 years, and I still haven't needed a new cat. The only downside is that it's a crowded lot on a residential street, so there's a lot of car jockeying and sometimes you have to go for a bit of a walk to get to your car. And unlike the dealership, they take weekends off. But honestly, that is a minor inconvenience when you have an honest tech you can trust. read more

This place is horrible. They had my car for about a month and completely forgot about it. Worked on other cars instead that had just dropped their cars off. Was told it would be done on Tuesday December 6 but called and was told they hadn't even started it. That was the last straw for me. I don't know anything about their service, but as a resident of the neighborhood, this business is the worst. They park their cars all over the neighborhood taking parking spaces of the residents. They have left cars on the street for weeks. I understand for a day or two but they consistently leave them for long periods of time and NOT anywhere near the shop. I often wonder if the owners of the cars have any idea that they are doing this. Bad neighbors. read more

As the saying goes: "Good things come in threes", so here are 3 instances where Dave Incognito and his awesome Incognito Auto Repair team let their true colors shine through brilliantly via their honesty, trust, and integrity. The first instance was last summer when I took my car to Incognito's for a PA state inspection. Instead of giving me the "standard" oil change to make extra profit, Dave honestly told me that my oil was too clean to warrant changing it at that point, so they gave my car a clean bill of health & just charged me the standard inspection fee. The second instance was when I pulled in around 8AM among several cars lined up for service expecting to just hand the guys my keys and walk home to wait all day for them to repair my burnt-out brake light. However, when I explained my issue to Dave, he instructed me to just back my car right up to the garage and he & his team replaced the brake light right on the spot in just a few minutes. Even though the light bulb swap turned out to be problematic since they had to go in through the trunk, they managed to resolve the issues with speed & efficiency, then only charged me such a reasonable amount that I actually gave them a tip to express my sincere gratitude. The third & most recent instance was right after Halloween (shoulda been mischief night) when a buncha kids kicked my driver's side view mirror completely off--wires & all. Since the guys at Incognito's take a well-deserved break on the weekends, walked into the STS on City Ave 'cause I happened to be driving by there & noticed they were open. When I plopped the severed side-view mirror assembly on the counter & explained the incident, the guy at the counter gave me a helplessly pitiful look & said they couldn't help me; then as an afterthought, he called some specialty shop & the dude on the phone said that I'd have to take it to the dealer, and it would be so expensive that they couldn't even quote me a price. So, I woefully picked up my mirror & tossed it back in my trunk until Monday... First thing Monday morning, I pulled up to Incognito's and Dave calmly told me that he could order my new mirror and replace it by the end of the day, which he readily did. As he handed me the bill, I cringed in anticipation of it being somewhere in the $500~$1,000+ range, and once again, I was elated to see that the entire bill including parts & labor was only $175. Incognito's rocks! This is actually the first online review I've ever written--I imagine I've been moved to do so by the outstanding service that Incognito Auto Repair has provided me and countless others with. After going to Pep Boys and being told it would cost roughly $100 for them to do a diagnostic test on my car (the emissions light was lit on my dashboard), I decided to give Incognito a try (I live on the same street the business is located on). The wonderful owner ran a diagnostic test FOR FREE, and then determined that my gas cap simply was not screwed on tight enough. HE WAS RIGHT. I would have paid Pep Boys $100 to do this! The owner didn't ask for any payment (only took him 5 minutes to do all of the above). I assured him that Incognito would be receiving all business related to may car in the future. I've been bringing my cars here for repair for Decades. They are the BEST. Completely honest, great work, stand by their work and parts. I had a car that I sold to someone else. A recently replaced (within 6 months) part went bad soon after I sold it. Dave replaced it no questions, no charge. Another time I brought a car(not mine) in to have a flat tire fixed. I was telling the mechanic that my nephew, whose car it was, was irresponsible. based on that he checked the oil. It was 3 quarts low. He saved my nephews engine! The Incognito Auto Repair garage certainly does not look fancy or upscale when you see it from the street, or when you visit the office, but don't be fooled: they do great work here. Prices are very fair. The owner and the mechanics speak to me the way I want to be spoken to. They are good at explaining things. I trust this shop to take care of my cars, do things right, and not over-charge me. I forget what the problem was, but Dave Incognito, the owner, told me it was likely X, which was about a 200 dollar repair. When I went back to get the car, he gave me the good news that it was only Y-- a 10 or 20 dollar repair. That's when I knew I had an honest shop. INCOGNITO AUTO REPAIR 424 W.Mt. Pleasant Ave in W.Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, Pa. (215) 247-4480 While Driving home to New Jersey from Allentown Saturday morning, March 2, 2015, I was stopped by the Collingswood Police after stopping for an errand in Oaklyn. The officer indicated that my rear passenger metalic rim (wheel) had significant damage to one of it's 5 spokes. I stepped out of my vehicle to find that it was indeed SEVERELY damaged and that there was an additional crack in the bottom of the rim.bridge. How I drove um - 65+ mph from Allentown in that condition I have no Idea other than my guardian angel! He suggested a "Mr. Tire" tire store a couple of blocks away, however, upon inspecting the damaged rim, the "gentleman" informed me that he could only get one for $1,200.00, and was not sure how long it would take him to have it delivered and installed. At this point I called AAA, had my car towed to INCOGNITO AUTO REPAIR in W.Mt. Airy and a mechanic Dave that I trust and have used for years. This gentleman, made several calls, helped me find my (apparently rare) rim at a remanufacturer in NY for $300.00, who could deliver the wheel for an $11.00 delivery charge(!) via FEDEX in 24 hours. He also arrainged a rental car that would deliver the car to the shop by 3:30 that day, which they did.I paid for the car rental a week in advance so as not to have any unforseen circumstances (snow) prevent me from driving to work. My vehicle was repaired on Saturday and I am picking it up after work today. Much thanks to Dave and all of the professionals at Incognito, who have gone out of their way to help my "no car fixing butt!" over the years, from things like giving me a ride home before the job starts and picking me up after the repairs were completed. Very faithfully to their customers. I have been let them taking care of my car for two years. Recently my car was overheating downtown so I brought it to a Pep Boys on N Broad street to fix which cost me over $300 together to replace a T-connection. The next day after 20 miles driving, my car smoked again. I brought my car to Incognito, they found the problem and fix it free for me. It was something the guy in Pep Boys put in the wrong side that caused the fluid spill out again. Very effective work.
