I ignored the red flags & reviews because they were "in-network" with my insurance. Turns out, they didn't even take my insurance. My first appointment, someone made the wrong type of appointment for me and after I sat around for 40 minutes, was told I'd have to come back another time. Never even saw the dentist. Then when I finally did get seen, an assistant removed my permanent retainer and said I'd have my permanent retainer in 2-3 days, dentist popped his head in to "meet me" and didn't even say 2 words. After I called them repeatedly after more than a week, I FINALLY got to pick up my retainer and it's disgusting. Looks like someone else has already worn it instead of brand new. Save your time & your money, and go elsewhere. read more

I've been coming here for years and highly recommend! The staff is very accommodating and super helpful in navigating dental issues. I've had a few different hygienists since going there and I've never had an issue with a single one. I get text message reminders and follow ups, I've had to reschedule appointments and they are super helpful to try and fit me in earlier rather than later, and I always feel like I'm getting quality care. Took me 6 months to get a basic appointment for my husband and I, and they call me a week ahead of the appointment to tell me that they are closed every Friday in June and July and I have to reschedule. Why was this not handled WELL in advance? People have full time jobs and full personal lives. You can't just ask them to rearrange everything at the drop of a hat - or wait EVEN LONGER to be seen. You lost what would have been long term customers as we just moved into the area. Went in for a tooth removal. But they wouldn't do it said I needed to be put under for a wisdom tooth.. I've had a wisdom tooth removed before, never had to get put under. It's not coming in sideways or anything. They give me a list of all these things I need done for like $3,500. They wanted me to sign the paper I wouldn't. They still charged me $150 for just a visit and I got nothing done.. I'm going to file a claim to get my money back. Also the assistants where all over the place dropping stuff looking lost . Stay away from this place! If for some reason you went here, double-check your treatment plan and billing, and cross-check with the EOB you receive from your dental insurance company. I was charged $2774 for services last Feb, because they failed to bill the insurance company for covered services, plus other overcharges. The total should have been $1260 for services. I have been fighting with this office since discovering the overcharges (about 6 months now), and they have repeatedly ignored my calls, and over the last 3 months they have started playing with the claims, resubmitting multiple claims where they added more sedation time, so that they can get out of refunding me the $1514 they owe. They have committed blatant insurance fraud, and there is absolutely no way I was under sedation for 4.5 hours. I wasn't even in their office for 3 hours. On top of this, everything they did went wrong and had to be addressed by three other dentists over the last year, costing me thousands of dollars and missing several weeks of work due to their malpractice. I forgot to add that the surgeon I met with prior to the procedure was great, and walked me through everything he was going to do, only to find out that another "surgeon" did the procedure. I woke up several times in extreme pain during this ordeal, and they left a pretty significant bone shard under the gums, which I did not discover until the swelling and infection went away, about four months, and multiple rounds of antibiotics and doctor visits later. There is much more I could say about this whole experience, but I do not want to waste anymore of my time on this ridiculous sham of an operation they call a Dental Practice. read more

It was the best experience at a dentist office I've ever received BY FAR. Dr. Nakhla and his staff at Independence Family Dentistry made this an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel comfortable approaching them even though the office was busy (special thanks to Vicki!). I thought I was at a bed and breakfast with how approachable the staff were. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, which immediately put me at ease. During my appointment, Dr. Nakhla took the time to thoroughly explain my crown procedure, making sure I understood what to expect and addressing all my concerns with patience and clarity. I initially needed a book for dummies with how clueless I was but his thorough communication made me feel confident to do the procedure myself. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which made my treatment not only quick but also incredibly comfortable. This isn't the first time I'm getting my crown fixed and I told him I wasn't excited about the gummy feeling after doing impressions for crowns- but guess what?! They have a machine that scanned my tooth in the blink of an eye! I felt like I was in a space shuttle with all of the neat equipment. During the crown procedure, I didn't feel any discomfort I normally would have felt. I can't recommend Dr. Nakhla and Independence Family Dentistry highly enough. I'm planning on getting a lot of cosmetic work done on my teeth implants and crowns. I went to another dentist looked up reviews on them. They were rated 1 star and many negative comments. Many people saying this dentist should not be practicing. One person said he had already paid $12,000 so he had no other choice but to go back. They were pushy trying to get a commitment from me right then. Good thing I looked up reviews. Independence Family Dentistry was rated on average of 4 to 5 stars. I called and asked them for a second opinion and they got me right in. Doing 3 implants instead of just 2 like the other place and the same amount of crowns. Independence Family Dentistry quoted me a price $7000 less than the other place with poor reviews. I put down a $6500 deposit. At this point I am very pleased. If there was anything less than a one-star, that's what Indepenndence Family Dentistry would get from me! I am new to the area and scheduled an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. After they took pics and xrays, the dentist looked in my mouth for less than 60 seconds and announced that I needed 2 crowns and a filling. When I explained my dental history, he scoffed and said I hadn't had a good dentist and grumbled forcefully, "Do you at least understand what I'm saying to you?" before he walked out. (Are you kidding me?!) It was all I could do to be civil, but I refused to lower myself to his rude, disrespectful behavior! The hygenist said they wouldn't clean my teeth until I scheduled those appointments. Today I returned for my teeth cleaning and they found yet another excuse to refuse to simply clean my teeth. The hygenist said I had 2 areas where my gum attachment was a "5" and that she needed to clean just that area first. ($343 out of pocket payment first!) I asked if she could do that AND clean my teeth. She asked the dentist owner and returned with this: "I tried to get him to let me clean your teeth, but he said it would be unethical for me to do that without doing the other part first." UNETHICAL? That's what this money grubbing practice is all about. Don't go here! Now that I'm home and telling people about my experience, I'm hearing all kinds of other horror stories about this practice. My daughter said she took our granddaughter (when she was 5 years old) to this dentist and (1) they wouldn't allow her to go back with her 5 year old daughter and (2) they put in a filling without her permission. They told me I needed a crown I said OK got the crown put on and then I had such horrible pain for two weeks that then they told me oh actually you need a root canal and now you have to pay for the root canal after I had paid for the crown. Sherri was able to get me an appointment within an hour, and I was seen by Dr. Gargas promptly after arriving. Not only was Dr. Gargas able to replace the crown that same day, but he and his staff Shari and Nikki were extremely pleasant, worked efficiently and explained everything they were doing in detail. I absolutely love my Dentist and the staff at Independence Family Dentistry! I have had lack luster experiences at other places and grew to hate going for routine cleanings. I know! CLEANINGS freaked me out - CAVITIES on the other hand, sent me into panic mode. My dental hygienist at IFD is so gentle and frequently asks how I'm doing - I appreciate the check in!
