I have never been so excited to do laundry! I only just now got my new Speed Queen TC5 delivered and installed and after an inaugural wash with sanitizer, it is chugging away on its first official wash load. Lk at the water level first off, there's ACTUAL GENUINE H2O in the tub to get my clothes clean and rinsed. . . and that's not even the deep fill option yet! A big thank you to Roger from Independent Appliance, who got me the info I needed and set it up so his colleague Greg came and installed this little gem. Both were GREAT to talk to! My washer was squeaking and than the drum quit turning so I called Independant Appliance. A guy came out and said it's the belt and quoted me $192 for the visit, parts and labor. I paid that, he put the belt on and then proceeded to tell me that the bearings weren't too good either. I asked, what do you do forr that and he responded get a new washer. This was on a Thursday and on Saturday it broke again and I had to buy a new washer.I was obviously very upset because i felt that the technician knew that wasn't going to fix the washer and charged me anyways. I tried to call the shop on Monday. I left a message and they do not return my calls. I will never use them again.​ Update: Independent Appliance called me after seeing my review and they did apologize and refunded the parts and labor. I was pretty certain what was wrong with my freezer and called to see if they had the part in stock. Roger stated they wouldn't order it without coming to make sure that was what I needed. I felt like I was wasting time - since it would be a second trip for him to install but I decided to do as he suggested especially since he was able to get someone out the next morning. Alex came and looked at the part I had take. out and plugged it in and did a reset. My unit started right up and I avoided paying several hundred dollars to replace a part that just needed a reset!! Very grateful they convinced me to have someone come out instead of just trying to fix it for myself. I will definitely use them again!!! read more

Bad Communication of diagnostics from on site tech. Yes, I had questions before and after the service call - I spoke with Blake and both times I was told the service call would be $95 plus whatever parts or would not be needed. My presumption was I needed my machine leveled. It had just been through a move. His initial reaction was that he did not like speaking with me, because it was always a minimum of a 30 minute phone call. I tried to explain to him, politely - that I did have a hard time at times consolidating my wording due to suffering and surviving two strokes. at which point I had to be yelled at by that man "Blake" continually disagreeing with me as to whether or not I did or did not have that health condition. I was told by the service providers that delivered my new machines, that there was a particular way that the machines should have been moved in by the movers - to secure the drum so that it would not break. This is not information that was provided to me by independent appliance. He was too busy yelling at me and being cruel - because I don't slur while I have strokes. I've only interacted with them a few times. They were paid in full to come diagnose my machine a couple of years ago and run it through the clean cycle and it was fine. I contacted them prior to the remove and was given a referral to have the connections connected and reconnected by a different company that has been wonderful towards me. He did his job. It was not his responsibility or this companies to secure the drum once it was moved. I simply asked regarding possibilities. And I also needed a receipt. And my washing machine was only 6 1/2 years old. I don't appreciate the way I was treated and screamed and yelled and hollered at due to my health conditions. He's not a medical doctor. He works on appliances. I can make other comparisons to strokes survivors that speak just fine, or have other stuff that with their problems, but that wasn't what I was calling them about. And it doesn't always take that long. It just takes that long if I have to get yelled at. There was no reason for me ever to speak to him again. They don't sell washing machines that I would be interested in. That I had to purchase elsewhere - so I was literally going off of the information that the other company that I made my actual purchase to replace my machine that they diagnosed as merely broken where the other company provided scenarios for why is 6 1/2 year-old watching machine would break just from moving from one location to the other. Front loader should have their drums secured. Which he did agree with - in the midst of yelling at me. But he also said that he was not going to take responsibility for "blaming "the moving company and I wasn't asking him to. I just wanted to understand. I'm the one that's out $800 for a new washing machine, I paid $100 as well as my time to be here for them to come look at it. I didn't have to be treated that way because stroke survivor. No one should be screamed and yelled and hollered at whether they're healthy or not when they're being polite. And I was very polite to that man. Very impressed with their knowledge, experience, and professionalism. My washing machine had an issue during the spin cycle so I decided to look on the Internet for solutions. Surprisingly I wasn't able to find anything that pertain to my exact issue. I gave this company a phone call to see if they had people available to repair my washer. I explained my problem and this guy knew exactly where I should look and even explained to me how to access it. With his guidance, I was able to remove the defective drive hub and then purchase a replacement that they had in stock. I was just going to buy a new washer but instead I was able to fix it for only $30. Sometimes a little extra personal effort and the assistance from true professionals can save you a lot of money. read more

I called Independent Appliance Inc. and explained issues with an ice maker not functioning properly in my refrigerator. Jordan, the technician, knew exactly what was wrong as the water from the line was going into the ice container and into bottom floor of the freezer. A fill container inside the ice maker was broken allowing the water to drip inside the freezer. He fixed it on the spot with a part he had to repair the broken one. Also he noticed the refrigerator door was not on the side easiest to access between the food and kitchen. He switched the door and now saved us from extra time getting food from the frig. Had them scheduled but they did not show up. Called and was told there was a glitch between dispatch and the tech. They did show up the next day on time. $165 not including parts and they were only in my home for 30 minutes. It is nice to have a working dryer but I think that $330/hour is a bit steep for appliance repair. read more

I've used this company a few times in the past years and have had honest business from them but this morning I feel like they definitely got one over on me. I pay up front before I even take the dryer off my truck. I need them to check out why it wouldn't work after changing from a 3 prong to a 4 prongs. I had already checked the outlet and the wiring to make sure that there was power to the dryer and the outlet because we had the outlet replaced a month ago. (we've been renovating for two months and finally get to move it.) I literally got the dryer off my truck they move it about three feet to a plug. The dang dryer starts right up. He tells me it's working fine and has to be the outlet. I get the fees for them figuring out what the problem is but I can't help but feel like I got ripped off paying $50.00 for him to plug it in and telling me the outlet has be the issue. I get the fees for diagnostic services but Unfortunately I can't help feel like them keeping the $50.00 was shady. Guess I'm old school but I'll be looking else where next time I have some issues with my appliances. read more

If I could give less than one star... I had to fix the refrigerator myself after they came diagnosed the problem but would not return to repair the refrigerator because ordered the wrong part for the dryer repair. I will note this was four or five days before Thanksgiving. !!!!! read more
