I attended a Yelp Elite event at The India Chaat House on Davie Street in Vancouver. We enjoyed fresh, delicious Indian food and chai. The service was excellent and the staff explained each dish for us.

This is an update to my last visit to India Chaat House on Davie Street. I came back to try the Chole Bhature and asked for it spicy. Once again, the restaurant was clean with soft background music (not the loud Bollywood rap you hear at some other places). I had a different server this time, and the service was just as excellent -- she checked in to make sure everything tasted good and that I was happy with the meal. The chole arrived piping hot, both in temperature and spice level. The aroma was amazing, and the heat was perfect -- not overpowering, but enough to have me sweating a little halfway through. The bhature were fresh, fluffy, and served hot. I came hungry and left happy -- and finished every bite.

We got to try quite if few of their food offerings tonight and everything was so flavourful! My fav items were the momos, the paneer pakoda and the golgappe - but really everything we tried was delicious. I want to go off grid and try their poutine next time lol - it looked sooo good

Dahi Bhalla (I think) - refreshing and delicious snack!

I was running errands on a winter afternoon and I needed a snack. I didn't want a big meal, but I needed something that would keep me going for another 3+ hours until dinner. I also wanted to find something that wasn't a huge calorie bomb with no nutritional value. And I stumbled across this spot (it used to be a different Indian restaurant), and gave it a try. They seemed to have a lot of small bites on offer, but alas, you will need to get one of their kind, and friendly staff to explain the menu items if you are not familiar with the terms because the descriptions are scant. I ended up ordering the dahi balla (I think??), which was a cold dish made from lentil (???) flour dumplings that was served with a generous topping of loose yoghurt, and various toppings including fresh pomegranate. I think they went easy on the spice for me, but you can probably specify your spice level. It was absolutely perfect! It was a light, refreshing, satisfying snack that was perfect. I must have gotten some sort of happy hour pricing because the bill was only $9 instead of the $12 I was expecting, so I gave the server a $5 tip because she did spend quite a bit of time going through the menu with me, lol.

Amazing chaat place in downtown Vancouver. Chole Bature and Amritsari kulcha are to die for. Great service too!

I would also describe the food as modern since there are some cool fusion dishes such as the mango burrata (I didn't end up ordering this but I wish I did!) I love lamb biryanis and this place has the most colorful and aesthetic lamb biryani I've ever seen. The samosas were also plated with a lot of creativity and artistic touches. Overall the food was very flavorful. I'm already thinking about my next bowl of biryani!

I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Everything I tried from here was 10/10! Some stand out items - :: Bombay pomfret fry - OH! The masala and coating on this was sooo good we were sucking on the bones till the very end. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! This was one of my favourite dishes. It was such a delicious fusion item. For dessert, I would recommend getting their soan papdi malai khwaab and their malai ghewar. Not too sweet, just perfect. For drinks, aam pana with gin is the way to go. I really cannot wait to come back and order everything again!

We were staying at the Marriott around the corner and the reviews were solid and since both Canada (and Vancouver) and India were once British colonies, we figured Mount Everest Kitchen & Grill had to provide a good representation of Indian fare by proxy, right? And it sure was. All four of us were so happy with everything we ordered. I ordered the set menu with mutton curry, rice, daal, raita and some veggies. I love full-flavored things and I love mutton (older lamb) and you can't find it at most places. This curry was amazing. The wife and Son of Tiki Dave ordered Chicken Tika Masala and Chicken Tandoori. The girl ordered Chicken Teriyaki. WHAT?? But she loved it. Ambience was lovely; service was excellent. We also ordered two orders of Garlic Naan which was probably too much but delicious. We had LOTS of leftovers and dang it, I made certain to finish them off and did on the way to the airport the next day! However it is not focused and instead provides a little bit of the region for everyone (Nepal, China, India, Pakistani influences). Came in for lunch on a weekday. Quickly seated and tended to by the staff. Interior is more of a diner scene than nice cafe. Bathrooms are gender neutral and clean but not nice. Here's my three things: 1) I got a lunch special featuring fish peckora, and tandoor chicken. Good flavor but missed on the real spice flavors. Veg salad was sour and worked with the rest of the plate. 2) These folks can make some NAAN! The Naan stole the show. Sweet, salty and crisp. 3) Price wise you can fill up and have a drink for $25-30CAN.
