Good solid Indian food in this unassuming restaurant. They have some indoor booths and outdoor tables. Service is good, but it was a little odd that they brought both our salad and main out at the same time. That they have a Greek salad was a surprise and it's not much like a Greek salad at a Greek restaurant My wife had the Punjabi chickpea curry, and I had the Punjabi goat curry. she had hers with roti and I had mine with rice. She really enjoyed her dish and felt it was very true. The flavor of my goat curry was good. I had it hot and they did not make it too hot to eat. Quick stop for dinner with some vegetarian friends visiting from out of town. The naan sampler is good. Pretty fresh. We accidentally ordered multiple aloo gobi's but I loved it. Crispy cauliflower was perfect and my favourite. All the other dishes seemed decent. The pakoras and samosas were only OK though. Service was a bit slow. read more

We tried this restaurant for dinner, since we thought it would be authentic and no frills. We expected really good food. We were disappointed. The ambiance is basic indian restaurant with the glass on top of the table. It is a funky design for a restaurant layout, with three rooms that do not flow together well. We were told to sit down. The booth was comfortable, and ours faced the busy street. She brought us menus. We ordered naan bread that came out dripping in butter. I used the paper inside the basket to get some butter off. The tandoori chicken was super soft, and almost seemed breaded. I don't know if they cooked it too long or if it was old, but the texture was soft. Did they use a meat tenderizer on it and over do it? Idk. But I have had this dish at other restaurants for over 30 years and it never is crumbly inside and out. The lamb curry is usually amazing at most Indian restaurants but this one was ok. The waitress told us the meals do not come with rice, so we ordered that, too. It was the best thing of all the items we ordered. The surprise came at the end, when we had to go look for the waitress to bring the check. We asked once. Then I went up to the bar area and paid another girl for the meal. I looked at the bill and saw we paid $9.95 for each of our Perrier bubbly water, 500 ml. They were the small bottles! $20 for bubbly water in two plastic 8" bottles. I had noticed that they were not on the menu, so we had no idea how much they were. Ouch. Most of their meals are less than $20. Overall, my recommendation would be to skip this restaurant. read more

My hotel was right next door and it was a no brainer. Absolutely love the amount of flavor in their food. I ordered the Palak chicken with a side of Chutney Mint. Came out in a flash and screaming hot. Boy, was I excited. Served with a complimentary side of rice. Perfect portion for lunch serving. The chicken was juicy and delicious and I believe it had a garnish of lemon grass. They offer a free sample to snack on while you order and wait. The server was friendly and attentive. Just look at that spinach sauce in my photo. I also ordered the ice cream with Gulab Jamun. My only negative about the dessert is I wish I got an additional ball but it was delicious! Wanted something different for dinner so we decided to try Curry Hut. Service was good and the food came quickly. We really liked everything we ordered. If in Vancouver give them a try. You will not be disappointed. I would usually minus a star because I ordered mild curry and it was quite hot for my liking BUT it was so tasty I still ate all of it... The prawn coconut curry was phenomenal. It was just the right amount of spicy and savory. The garlic naan was pretty amazing also. My son got the chicken tikka masala and really enjoyed it. The service was okay. We were seated immediately and the food came out very quickly. However, not once did anyone come to ask if we needed refills or anything else. read more

The Curry Hut serves the best Indian curry I've ever had. The curry was very smooth and didn't have a grainy texture that's found in many Indian restaurants. We ordered the Lamb Curry and Butter Chicken lunch combos. The butter chicken had amazing flavor. The portions were very generous for a lunch serving. They have complimentary chips and chutney that were very flavorful as well. The service was amazing and friendly. If you're in downtown Vancouver, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Inside out: this location is very convenient if you're staying at the exchange hotel. It's not much to look at from the outside but it's cute, the inside is a little crowded not necessarily the cleanest but still passing. Food: I will say that the food was incredible, I had the fish curry and my husband had butter chicken, we both had naan (I had coconut he had garlic). The food was just tasty, I have no complaints there and there was an ample amount of it for the price. Service: this is where I wanted to take off two stars because everything else was amazing. Don't get me wrong no one was mean or unprofessional, it was just the slowest I've had in recallable memory. I asked for my check, our waitress said sure and vanished. After close to 10 minutes I went to the front and asked, nothing, another waitress walked by and she said she would get ours. Three times, not only did we not get our check or to-go boxes from our waitress but she started cleaning the table behind with no one waiting. Just straight up cleaning without acknowledging us and we still had no check. I had no idea where she went, eventually another waitress took pity on us and at least brought us boxes. I ended up having to go to the front after waiting another ten minutes or so- then they asked what my order was to check us out. I hate not being a big tipper but this was the first time I actually thought about not tipping. I still did, but It was incredibly irritating, I didn't know it at the time but I had fractured my ankle on a hike earlier and I just wanted to get back to our hotel- I was hurt and exhausted but we had to eat. I wasn't mean or demanding because I have no idea what kind of day they are having- but DANG that was rough. The Curry Hut is a hidden gem. When entering the restaurant, you may second guess yourself as it looks like a take-out place, but there is more to the restaurant as there is seating to the left. It is a restaurant that could host 10-15 tables. The atmosphere is nothing special, but the food is quite good. I arrived with six others and found a table with no problem. The menu has a large selection of Indian dishes. We ordered several dishes, and the food came out promptly. The food was hot and, for Indian dishes, was relatively mild. If you like spice, I suggest requesting more spice. The dishes were quite good, and there were several naan flavours. I recommend this restaurant as a good lunch or family dinner place. If you are looking for something intimate, this isn't the place. The food is good; the atmosphere is simple and a great place to eat. read more

Excellent Indian food. The Chicken Korma and Chicken Curry were so flavorful and tender. The Onion Kulcha was some of the best I've had. The servers were very nice, friendly and helpful. Recently visited Vancouver from California and tried this restaurant, let me tell you the food is awesome and so are the people working there. Humble and hospitable. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! The Fish Tika was one of the best Indian dishes I've had in my life! The delicious hunks of fish were tender, complexly flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We just stumbled on this restaurant because we hadn't eaten for most of the day and my wife had a hankering for Chicken Tika Masala, which was satisfied completely... again the chicken soft and juicy and the Masala robust. Everything was wonderful and the staff were so shyly charming. The Garlic Nan was perfectly chewy and the green chutney filled with aromatics. We rounded out the meal with some Paneer Palak that was rich and creamy with large fresh chunks of cheese. Right beside the hotel I was staying at (The Exchange). We had the Tandoori chicken, garlic nan and an Indian premium beer. Portions were more than adequate, Chicken was delicious. This restaurant could certainly put a few Indian restaurants in Burlington or Toronto, Ontario to shame. Prices were quite reasonable and staff very professional. Will definitely return. read more
