I recently visited India Bazaar, now called Indian Mart, located off Durango with the closest cross street being Russell. I ordered samosas, and they were delicious. Since they don't have an online menu yet, I posted a picture of it. The prices are great, and the vibe is dope. Even though it's very new, they already have a lot in stock, reminiscent of a small version of Rani's World. The staff and owners are awesome. And make sure to take advantage of the free chai while they have it--if you haven't tried authentic chai, this is the spot. Highly recommend checking it out!

They also offer a lot of fresh and frozen seafood. You can find a lot of groceries from all over the word here. This place is great but- There is so much stuff that it is actually hard to find the things that you are looking for. I also didn't notice signs to direct you to particular countries or even continents. The biggest problem with shopping here are the very tight aisles. If you see someone with a cart there isn't enough room to go around them. Checking out can be challenging for some because it is like a maze with all kinds of things in your way so you have to figure it out. Actually had to circle the parking lot a couple times to find a spot. Now if you've never been there, this store is certainly not like sprouts with nice wide aisles and neat and so cute displays . I mean its definitely not dirty or disorganized, but just a lot of product and crowded aisles and quite frankly on discount day there are some pretty crazed and sometimes rude people blocking the aisles. The produce today looked really good so I took advantage, even though I was more in need of some condiments and food from the hot line. I really enjoy the food from the hot line, always fresh, decent potion sizes etc. IMHO, better than seafood city. I also like their in store bakery when I desire some hot and fresh rolls and the like. So today other than one potential shopping cart road rage incident in the condiment aisle, I had a great shopping experience.

It's clear they take pride in the presentation and upkeep of the store. What they don't seem to take pride in is customer service. Employees keep to themselves, avoid eye contact, and never ask if you need help finding anything. There's no sense of enthusiasm or willingness to assist. You can get what you need here, but you'll be getting it entirely on your own.

Sadly, the Arcadia HMART and the one in Kearny Mesa didn't have the prepackaged oysters in a jar... POKE: Looks very fresh and surprising to see a poke section a the LV HMART. The ones in CA didn't have a poke section... TONKATSU RAMEN SNACK: 8/10 It's highly addictive and makes a great snack on the road. However, we enjoyed the original flavor more... PURPLE YAM: 10/10 It is delicious, nutritious and helps lower your HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!!! Speaking from experience ;) FRESH WASABI: 10/10 That's the first time I've seen it sold at an HMART! AMBIANCE: 10/10 This HMart has a wide selection of kitchen ware and it's designed kind of IKEA where you would enter in one way and out the other kind of like a maze... LIVE SEAFOOD SECTION: It looks like you can walk up to it but, they closed it off. The dungeoness crabs are so fresh and I love it when they have daily dead crab specials because I don't want to kill anything in order to eat. I would rather let it die in peace and then consume it... SERVICE: Good Service. Everyone was busy and working hard plus minding their own business... HMart has a special place in my HEART!!!

The market looked like it had more capacity for baking and cooking and "deli" type service, but those areas looked a bit empty. I was not looking for halal meat, and maybe I missed the meat section but I didn't see any. What I did see (and bought some) was large flat pita style garlic bread (dense and chewy, great for dipping) and also some traditional Lamejun (Lebanese or Armenian flat bread style pizza) Haven't had any of those since I left the east coast.... They are so tasty. They also had Afghani flat bread. So I stocked up on bread and my car smelled like a middle eastern bakery on the way home.
