Absolutely the best Indian food we've found in or around the Roseville area. Not saying there aren't other great options nearby, just saying this is the best amongst stiff competition! We started with their Mango Lassi and Stuffed paneer pakora and couldn't resist over ordering for the main course just so we could have left overs. We weren't ready for what happened next. To say the portions were generous would be like saying the Grand Canyon is big. We settled on Chicken tikka masala, Punjabi goat curry, Gobi Manchurian, and the Chefs bread basket. We over ate and over enjoyed everything but alas we still walked out with 20lbs of leftovers (guaranteed our kids will have it polished off before dinner tomorrow too!). We finished with the Elaichi Kheer and a Mango lassi to go. Next time we want to get the Tandoori salmon, Butter chicken, and Goat dum biryani. All that, and I haven't even mentioned the best part. I really liked this place. The service was great they brought our drinks and food out really fast, everyone was very nice, and they kept checking in on us. We ordered the butter chicken, which is one of my favorites, and it was really good. We also got the shrimp biryani, even though we originally asked for vegetable biryani. We decided to try it anyway it was okay, a little dry for me, but not bad. We also got the bread basket with different kinds of bread, and all of them were really good. My favorite was the one with onion inside. The fish Amritsar was also pretty good I liked it. And the masala chai was my absolute favorite thing, a 10/10 for sure. We had a great meal at Indian Oven. We started with the paneer pakora, which came with three different sauces--each one delicious and a perfect complement to the crispy, flavorful paneer. For my main, I had the lamb vindaloo, and it was truly delicious: nicely spicy with hot chilies, tomatoes, and onions. The lamb was incredibly tender, well seasoned, and basically fell apart with each bite. We also ordered the chef's bread basket with garlic, onion, and butter naan. I ended up having dinner here tonight after a few other spots had hour long waits, and I was actually pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The restaurant is huge and open, and I was greeted and seated right away. Water was poured as soon as I sat down, menus handed over, and we went ahead and ordered a mix of dishes. The pani puri was just okay, but I did enjoy the crunch. My usual garlic naan with butter chicken really hit the spot, and the vegetable samosa came with three dipping sauces plus a little cabbage side that was actually pretty tasty. The chicken tandoori was great! super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We also tried the fish amritsari with a squeeze of lemon, and it was really good. Even the side of rice came out in a larger portion than expected, and when my daughter fell in love with the cherry tomatoes they use as garnish, I asked the server for a small side of them and they didn't charge me for that, which I appreciated. As good as the food was, the service is where things started to fall apart. Once all the dishes were dropped off, that was pretty much the last time anyone stopped by. No mid meal check in, no "How's everything?" nothing. I had to flag the server down just to get a drink refill, and later we had to do the same to get our to go containers and the check. It wasn't busy, so it felt more like inattentiveness than being overwhelmed. It's a shame because the food here is genuinely excellent, and I would absolutely come back for it. But the lack of basic customer service really took away from the experience. If you want great Indian food, I'd still recommend trying them, just maybe stick to takeout unless you're okay with being largely ignored while dining in. read more

We specifically requested a non-spicy version of the dish( paneer saagwala), but it still came out quite hot. My child had to mix in yogurt just to be able to eat it, which unfortunately altered the taste completely. We had ordered the 'seasonal vegetable dum biryani,' but what we were served felt more like a simple pulao. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness you'd expect from a proper dum biryani. We were seated immediately in a booth and offered to have their buffet or menu. We opted for the menu. I believe they said the buffet was $35 a person. The restaurant is pretty. They poured water in glasses when we sat down and there was something floating in the cups so we didn't drink them. My husband ordered a beer and I had the Pinot Grigio. My wine glass had crusty food all over it so I had to clean it before drinking from it - gross but it seems it was from the dishwasher. Drank my wine just fine. Now the food. YUM. To start, we tried the pani puri- my husband is a huge fan so this was a must try for us as I have never had it before. My first experience was great. I thought the flavor was delicious. My husband said it was pretty good however the shells on these pani puri are thicker than other places he has had before and he prefers the thinner shells. It came with a kind of green mint sauce, it was good! ...what a fun experience! Then we ordered the lamb tikka masala, rice and garlic naan. This naan - oh my. It was thin and had a slight char to the bottom side (which we LOVED) and the garlic wasn't overpowering but delicious. The rice was perfectly fluffy - I have never seen such perfect rice before and it had peas in it. The lamb tikka masala- wow! Great flavor! All three together were perfect. Anyone who loves Indian food that actually has FLAVOR needs to get in here! The interior decor is more upscale as apposed to so many that are kind of like a glorified cafeteria setting. This is a clean, warm, inviting and comfortable environment. The typical person dining out these days seems to think "dress as terribly as you can"... Here you can actually dress appropriately and feel good about where you are dining. Check out the pics, it's nice inside. Our host and the servers were all spot on the entire evening, being both attentive and friendly. The staff was dressed cleanly and professionally. We requested our dishes be 'spicy' as that's how we roll around here. For dinner we had the chicken vindaloo, lamb Rogan Josh, Paneer saagwala, basmati rice and some garlic naan. All of the dishes were so incredibly full of flavor and just the right amount of heat. Great depth and quality in all of them. If I were to make any kind of criticism, it would be that the garlic naan was a little too oily. But, we didn't come here just for the naan. Of all the Indian restaurants in NorCal, we have tried thus far, we have to agree that this is our top spot now, and we will be coming back many times going forward. I started off with some vegetarian samosas which were just okay but the goat curry and butter chicken were absolutely delicious! Got a coupon in the mail for $3 off the lunch buffet so decided to give it a shot. I would normally stay away from a chain but coupons and cheap MFers like me go hand in hand. And although it was not the BEST, it was still aight. The spread on the buffet line was nice an actually varied in flavors. I hate it when I go to an Indian spot and everything basically tastes the same. All tasted great, but the meats themselves were poorly cooked. Chicken tikka masala made with chicken breast....in massive pieces. Basically like boiled chicken. The sauce was pretty good though Lamb curry was also good, but lamb not really tender...tough and dry. They also had something that I've never seen in Indian Cuisine that was basically like Chinese food. Was weird, but was still good. Also never seen fish on a buffet line, was ok. Probably cheap doodoo fish like tilapia but nice to see to see something new. Also didn't know spring rolls were Indian? Samosas were pretty decent. I typically don't care for them but they were filled nicely with not too much excessive fried crust fatness. Restaurant was very nice and bright...also I have to commend that the food tasted "clean" if you get what I mean. Alot of Indian places kind of taste grubby or old or something...I mean, I don't know how to explain it but yeah. This actually tasted fresh, like someone made it only a few minutes ago and the produce was from the day before, not last week. I was sadly hurt when the gentleman at the front took my order was very snappy to begin with. When I received my food it was the wrong order and I asked if it was the one on the menu because I get sick with certain foods and they got angry at me and told me it was the one I chose :( the room was already feeling off and then everyone was frowning upon me like I did something wrong.... I usually don't experience such bad service and I love Indian food but this place was not the right fit for me I guess :( maybe they want more Indian friendly people? This place was on our list and we had some friends in town that enjoy Indian food so we gave it a try. It was fine, but not good enough for a return. The inside is cool. It has a few cultural elements that give it an upscale feel and let you know the type of food you will get. The bar is a nice feature but underused by them only having beer and wine. The service was okay. I knew the server was going to get our order wrong and I was correct. His lack of confidence was evident. They gave my son a free mango lassi, but he didn't like it. I tried it and it tasted okay. It was warm though. I ordered the traditional chicken curry at the medium spice level. The flavor was good and spice level a little above what I wanted. I found a few chewy and inedible bits in the chicken. The regular and garlic naan were good. The garlic was better because it was crunchier. The rice was fluffy and cooked well. All in all this is a good Indian restaurant with standard food, cool ambiance, and okay service. It just doesn't offer anything special or outstanding that warrants another visit. read more
