Stopped in here for the lunch buffet this last weekend on my way back from Tahoe. It's a nice change from burgers and the like. I usually only do buffets with Indian food, I guess I just have my fave dishes and that's all I get. The place is nice inside, nothing weird or anything. The buffet runs on the weekends starting on Friday's. I loaded up the on tandoori chicken and the Tikka masala over basmati rice. Naan is included as well. I did like the chicken and it wasn't like some buffets that just use the scrappy pieces for the buffet like backs and rib cages of the chicken. They had the thighs, breasts must be used for something else. The rice was light and fluffy like it's supposed to be and the Tikka Masala was good on it. I had my fill and waddled on out full of tandoori chicken. That's one dish I have no idea how to cook, so I'll do a buffet and eat all I want! read more

Royal Indian Cuisine, located in downtown Auburn, CA, has been serving delicious and delicious Indian cuisine from varied regions of the country since 2018. This fine restaurant is family owned and operated, and serves breakfast and lunch every day of the week except Monday. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be "meeted and greeted" by a friendly staff member at the counter. The dining room is quite spacious and sparsely decorated, but it's truly attractive and comfortable. The furniture has a few booths, but mostly is furnished with tables, each covered by a white tablecloth and already set with silverware, napkins and a water glass. An empty buffet is located at the rear of the restaurant, as lunch today was being served off the menu. Royal Indian Cuisine has been serving amazing Indian cuisine to Auburn, and western Placer County, and is open every day of the week, except for Monday. Lunch and dinner are served, with a 2-hour break in mid afternoon between the lunch and dinner seatings. Great gold country dining! From the "Vegetarian Appetizers" section of the meal, I began my lunch with a couple of "Vegetarian Samosas." Like all appetizers on the menu, my samosas included a cup of "Tamarind" and a cup of "Mint Sauce," for my dipping enjoyment. Each samosa was a savory pastry, stuffed with seasoned mashed potatoes and deep fried to a perfect, crispy golden brown on the outside. The mashed potato filling wasn't your mom's Idaho potato filling, as it was seasoned with Indian spices along with a hint of chickpea. Delicious! The "Mint Sauce," which was my favorite was very thick, and was more like mint chutney than sauce. It was thick, rich with a well-balanced flavor, and was hands-down my favorite, as I enjoyed every drop of it. On the other hand, the "Tamarind" uplifted the taste sensation, as it was thick, sweet, sour, tangy and flavorful. It made quite a contrast between the mint, and I alternated between the two dipping sauces. Such an amazing appetizer! The "Vegetarian Samosa" is listed on the menu as an appetizer, but between the samosas and the dipping sauce, it could almost make for a lunch, albeit it on the light side. Combine this amazing appetizer with a small bowl of lentil soup, and you'd have a complete and delicious vegetarian lunch. From the "Non Vegetarian Entrees" page of the menu, I went with a bowl of "Goat Curry" as my main entree. The menu simply describes this amazing dish as, "Goat cooked in a mildly spiced sauce." Today was my first EVER to enjoy a bowl of "Goat Curry" and I wasn't disappointed. The entree included a good size portion of seasoned goat meat, on the bone, which added to the amazing flavor. I noted the meat was on the sweet side, with just a hint of curry and ginger. The meat was falling-off-the-bone tender and on the chewy side, with robust flavor and mildly spicy. I was surprised at the lack of "gamey" taste that is usually associated with goat meat, as besides the full flavor, the dish was actually quite mild. The rich, thick, savory sauce was simply amazing, and complimented the goat meat. Actually, they were one in the same and made for an amazing stew. I had expected more curry flavor in this dish, and I was surprised there was only a hint of curry, along with ginger. Any way you look at it, this was simply a delicious bowl of stew! My lunch of goat curry, naan and vegetarian samosas was simply delicious, as the food was perfectly cooked, presented beautifully and transported me to India, while enjoying beautiful Auburn. The cuisine of India is certainly showcased at Royal Indian Cuisine! Mumbai meets Auburn at Royal Indian Cuisine, where the food is authentic and delicious, and the staff will treat you like royalty. Delicious weekend evening buffet with a variety of fresh items, including our favorite paneer masala and butter chicken. We came here for the buffet dinner. I do not eat AYCE buffet style but decided to give it a try after such a raving review on Yelp. You do have an option to order your favorite food plate. For 17 dollars per person for dinner, I was pleased to try it. Everything was tasty and yummy. Indian cuisine here was fresh and traditional. The service was spectacularly pleasant. The dinning area is clean and spacious. We enjoyed the vegetarian dishes and garlic naans. This is a safe restaurant that's good. It definitely held up to the hype. Taking into account that this was for a buffet, we found the following on our visit: Naan 5/5 - fluffy, flavorful, just absolutely delightful. Garlic, paneer, and regular butter - all were great. Chicken makhni 3/5 - more sweet than tangy but a good consistency. Ran into a few pieces that weren't edible, but that does happen when it's made with dark meat Butter Paneer 4/5 - solid. And as there are usually no bones in cheese, it's a one up from the butter chicken Chicken curry 1/5 - this was a hard miss. You know how when you read these and a review will say something like "*zero* flavor" and you're like "well obviously there's like at least *some* sort of flavor, even if it's weak or bland" - this dish exists somewhere between those two assessments. Service 3/5 - water stayed filled most of the time. Not friendly/welcoming. Not mad about it or anything, just noticeably not what one would hope for. Value 4/5 - they're pretty much charging pre-pandemic prices over here. Not spendy at all. Again - that's for the buffet. Can't speak to portions when ordered a la carte. Samosas were decent, the mango soft serve is solid, and the chai smells better than it tastes. This is a "bookmarked removed" type of place, unfortunately. read more

Date night dinner here for the second time now... both times, the food was excellent! Tonight we had Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tiki Masala, Palak Paneer and Garlic Naan. All dishes were equal to or better than the equivalent dishes I've had anywhere - bursting with authentic flavor, meats buttery tender, spices and herbs perfectly blended. I really don't have anything negative to say at all about the food here... it's that good. Service and atmosphere is great too - I'm a little surprised that it wasn't busier each time we've been there... but maybe we just got lucky. It wasn't empty, but far less than half the tables were in use, which of course was good for us - not noisy at all, we were able to have a nice quiet conversation. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing - good balance. We left with full stomachs and took a nice walk around the area - great evening! read more

We have had lunch at the Royal Indian several times. We are a group of guys who rotate lunch in the Auburn area. The food is tasty , beer is cold, ( from India and in large bottles) and the service is excellent. The menu is extensive, with different meats and different sauces, plus side dishes. Servings are large and you don't leave hungry! It's a nice setting and pretty quiet so conversation is easy. Parking is on the street or in a nearby community parking lot. read more

My Lady and I found this restaurant while passing through Auburn via Lake Tahoe to Sacramento and saw they had a buffet going. Since she and I love Indian food, we dove in and tried everything we could. Needless to say, I ate so much that my breathing became heavy and walking was a chore. My fault! It is probably one of the best choices for Indian food along I-80 in and out of Tahoe. Taste of food is great and not disappointing at all. Although I took off one star because of the fake-red color of tandoori chicken and for the fact that there is another restaurant with exact same name near Folsom which is much better taste. That one is a bit off I-80. For this place, the butter chicken and chicken kadahi had a bit too much sweet tomato puree taste. Overall I still recommend the place. read more

We requested chutney which they provided at no cost but I would have wanted about twice the amount even if a small cost. Lunch was quiet midweek but we liked that too. Prices were pretty good. Can't believe I've never reviewed this place. One of my favorites in town. My wife doesn't like Indian food but my son and I adore it. Palak paneer and chicken teekamasala (spelling?) are our go to now that there isn't any buffets. But I've never had anything bad here so just point to the menu and go with it. Service is good , but I've only done takeout lately. If they want to really step it up, they should get some beer on tap. Just a couple local ones would be great. read more

This restaurant is located in the charming Auburn old town/downtown. It was surprising to find Indian/Thai restaurants here. We dined in for lunch today after some errand. They are following all the covid safety measures. We ordered Chicken Kadai, Malai Kofta and Garlic Naan. The entrees also came with a free side of rice. Got Mango lassi also. We brought home enough leftovers for another full on meal. Service is delightful. Timely & friendly. Prices are bargain for the superior quality food. Our bill totaled $80, of which $15 was for beers. And you can dine for even less money as the dinner buffet all you can eat is $14.99. I checked it out, it had plenty of variety and a surprising amount of meat selections. I hope that Auburn is big enough and sophisticated enough to keep this restaurant in business. It's a treasure. While searching Yelp for any new great restaurants in Auburn and Roseville, I found all the 5 star reviews for this newish Indian Restaurant in downtown Auburn. My hubby Tom and our family friends really love Indian food, so while visiting Roseville this week, we decided to give it a try and see if those other happy Yelpers were right. Well, let me say this - what a find this lovely new restaurant is. I have to preface this review with the fact that I have never been a huge fan of this type of cuisine, but after one of the best Indian meals of my life in a tiny London Indian Bistro, I am more and more inclined to keep trying! The four of us ordered 6 dishes and each and every one of them was jam packed with their own individual flavors. When ordering our server asked us what level of spicy we wanted and since it was our first time here, we decided to go for "Mildly spicy". All the vegetables, including the tomatoes in the sauces were so fresh. The lentil dish was creamy had the right amount of spice heat. The potato and cauliflower dish was loaded with big chunks of fresh cauliflower. The Fish Masala dish appeared to have fresh rather than frozen fish (although I did not confim which it was with the server). The basmati rice was so light and fluffy. The garlic naan and the naan filled with crumbled lamb meat were also perfect. So we all filled our plates, ate as much as we could and then had enough to take home for another full meal! The prices are so reasonable! They also have a full buffet at $14.99 a person for all you can eat. They are open for lunch and dinner and offer the buffet at both meals. This restaurant is truly a gift to Auburn. I can guarantee you that we will be back each and every time we visit our Roseville family! read more
