My fiancee is constantly asking if we can order take out Indian food, and I used to balk because all of our local establishments were hit or miss --- until we recently tried India Palace and absolutely loved it! We've gone twice already since discovering it less than a month ago and India Palace knocked it out of the park both times. It's run by a husband/wife team; the wife handles the customer service aspects with a friendly and helpful demeanor while the husband cooks food to order. Since everything is made fresh, we've always been told an estimated wait time of at least 1 hour, so keep that in mind when ordering. The prices are reasonable and we've always managed to get dinner and lunch for two people out of three entrees + naan + samosas for roughly $50. We've started both our meals with the samosas, fried to a perfect crisp and packed with fresh potatoes and peas that were flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy, though if you need to tamper down the spice, the tamarind sauce and/or onion chutney are the perfect sweet addition. The entrees have all been phenomenal. Our chicken korma was creamy and delicious both times we've had it, and the chicken is soft and juicy, unlike other Indian takeout that tastes dried out and reheated. The saag paneer is incredible and unlike any I've had before --- the paneer tastes homemade and the spinach/sauce is creamy and packed with flavor. The malai kofta offers paneer that has been battered/fried and is served with a spicy cream-based sauce that was also good (though I think I'd prefer the saag paneer!). The chana masala was yummy and a bit spicier than the others we've tried. We recently tried the Daal Makhani on the owner's suggestion and loved that as well. This restaurant excels in Punjabi food. Hole in the wall restaurant owned by an Indian couple that has been whipping out fresh food for the last 30+ years. Food: 10/10. The garlic naan is the best I have had. Considering I've had naans from hundreds of restaurants around the world, including India, this is a big statement. The paneer is made in house daily. The curries have incredible flavor (order the paneer makhni). I will admit the curries can be hit or miss on consistency... sometimes they are a bit thin for my preference but 95% of the time this is not an issue. Skip the vegetarian appetizers, I can't speak for the non-veg. Overall trust me if you are looking for quality Indian food, call them right now. Ambiance: 1/10. Well, as long as you're not a stickler for plating and you know how to back-in park, you, like me will fall madly for this place! I went for lunch by myself. I came in feeling a bit odd about being solo in a restaurant with table cloths, but I left feeling like I'd found a new home filled wth spices and smiles. At lunch they serve buffet only (you can order off the menu for takeout). The buffet always has 4 vegetarian and 2 meat options. I ate all the veggie options and can't possibly tell you my favorite. The heat level for spices was appropriate for all types of eaters (I hope for dinner you can ask for spicier). I cleaned my plate with the fluffiest, butteriest naan! It looks like they do serve beer and wine, which is good to know. The owner was so sweet and when I asked what something was, she was happy to tell me, no condescension or annoyance that I asked. I find myself traveling in Wilmington, DE and jonsing for Indian food... The universe keeps pointing me here, and now I know why! In COVID-times, takeaway is THE way and India Palace did not disappoint. The Saag Paneer was some of the best I've had outside of India. Smooth, rich and creamy, it had more complexity than most. The Malai Kofta was equally rich and flavorsome, but with different aromas and taste [- as it should be!]. All the food was overwhelmingly tasty and the texture was sublime. I only had 2 entrees, but both were completely satisfying and a welcome surprise on the road. All the food was packed well and didn't leak for the journey, but the paratha never made it out of the car. Well, it did, but in my belly! The staff [a.k.a. owners] were friendly, accommodating and hospitable. They went the extra mile of calling me when the food was ready - earlier than promised - and got me in and out of there in a New York minute. We are new to town and found a review online so decided to give this place a try. Unassuming from the outside, warm and welcoming inside and the food is truly delectable. We went all vegetarian and every dish was perfection. The owners are delightful and have recently reopened after the husband had surgery for prostate cancer. Forget the ambience - the food is outstanding. The samosas were generous and perfectly spiced. Husband's tandoori sampler was delicious, my biryani was loaded with shrimp and caramelized onions. This is a small Mom and Pop operation in Wilmington. Parking in front is limited and tricky but there is plenty of side street parking. Currently it's a take out only (+Grub Hub delivery) operation. They said they are remodeling and will open sit-in-service in September 2021. Food is made to order and to the level of spice you ask for. Not too oily like many Indian restaurants. We ordered Malai Kofta, Paneer Maakhnee, Basmathi Rice, Chicken Shahee Korma , Chicken Tikka, Gobi Paratha and Garlic Naan. Food was delicious and the owners are super nice couple. India Palace is a gem of a restaurant. It's a family run operation managed by a husband wife pair for the past three decades! The family run nature is apparent not only when I was greeted by a very kind owner but also in the warmth and homestyle taste of the made to order food. We ordered Malai Kofta and Paneer Makhani and both dishes were perfectly textured, creamy and just plain delicious! I have no doubt I will be returning repeatedly for more in the months to come. I consider this place to be one of those, "don't judge a book by its cover" spots. It is in kind of an odd area off Maryland avenue and looks like a hole in the wall. It is easy to pass by and if you have, you are reaaally missing out! I would say it is the best Indian food in the area. I do have a minor confession... I sleep with a light on. Oh wait, that's another story. No, I always order the same thing here. I get the Chicken Tikka Marsala (bonless chicken chunks served in a tomato, onion cream sauce), the vegetable Samosa's (it's like a turnover with spicy potatoes and peas), and the Raita (a somewhat tangy mixture of cucumber, tomatoes, and maybe carrots? in fresh, thin yogurt). It is the bomb and is really good for dipping their fresh homemade Naan. You can get regular of garlic Naan ( bread) - both good. The chicken Tikka Marsala is perfectly cooked and has some major chunks of all-white chicken. It also comes with rice. Two suggestions: One, I like hot things but their hot is on a whole nother level. I would recommend ordering one level below what you would normally order. Also, I only get takeout here. I come late but still don't see many people dining in. It may be minor crickets if you are in the mood to eat out. However, this is a family run restaurant and they are extremely nice so I am sure it will still be great. They do a buffet at dinner too if you like to try a little bit of everything. read more

The first time I tried the food here I liked it but was not yet in love. I had the bhindi masala and dal makhani. Both good - probably 4.0 star quality. Then, I tried the garlic naan, saag paneer and baingan bharta and I was hooked. The food is very flavorful! Just delicious. Edit: My fiancé and I are officially regulars now. We order take out a few times every month! We've had several friends try the dishes with us and everyone has been seriously impressed.
