l tried them for dinner and absolutely loved my meal. I ordered the Paneer Butter Masala spice level spicy. The rice portion was a bit small, but the gravy and cheese portion was great. Let's face it, rice is rice but the gravy is where the flavor is so I didn't mind. The flavor seems authentic and not "Americanized" with a bunch of cream and mild flavors. The tables were clean, it was seat yourself and order at the counter. That's fine, I don't expect the same level of service at Indian places and simply don't tip (it's not a part of their culture). This restaurant is so good! I was really craving some chole pathure and it did not disappoint! The pathure were huge and super fluffy. The plate comes with two huge pathure The chole could be a tad more spicy/flavorful, but still good. It comes with red onions too, but I wish they provided lime with it. The papdi and bel puri is delicious as well! The restaurant is kinda tucked away in a quiet shopping strip, but they've done a great job with the decorations and the ambience. They played updated versions of classic Bollywood music, which was such a nice nostalgic touch! I will say the service is pretty lousy though. Each table has a bottle of water on it and we finished ours pretty quickly. No one ever came by to ask if we needed more, if the food was okay, anything. They forgot to add salt, so all we could taste was the overwhelming spice. **Paneer Butter Masala**: It tasted sour, likely due to yogurt. Very disappointing. **Garlic Naan**: I'd bet the farm it was frozen. Absolutely no freshness. **Malabar Paratha**: Clearly frozen and not even fully cooked. Some edges were solid. **Amchi Bombay Sandwich**: The food was so bad that we asked to cancel this order. The woman at the counter was rude and blunt, informing us it was already ready. It is a dish made with two simple ingredients. Rice and lentils. Pretty much it. Rest is all just minor stuff. So I ordered it, picked it up. Saw from the see through to-go container that the Kichdi is made out of long grain rice. I lost my appetite. You simply dont make that dish with long grain rice. North Indian Restaurants usually have long grain rice prepared and they use the same rice for ALL the rice based dishes. Even biryanis. That is why never eat a biryani at a north Indian restaurant. That is not a biryani. Anyways, so I went to watch a movie and came home. Decided to eat and I had no expectations. But boy that was delicious. Not because of the long grain rice but just that dish it self is very good. If it was done using normal grain of rice it would have been nicer. It had a perfect balance of cumin and garlic. That is it! The whole dish depends on it. Nothing overpowers. A balance among rice, lentils, cumin, salt and garlic. Bravo!! Well done!! Place is small but they tried to make it cozy and setup is nice for a space that small. I wouldn't dine in though. The tables are too close and I need my space. Ordered a buttermilk. A bit salty. We ordered: - Pav Bhaji - ok - Aloo toast - Awesome - Dry veg manchurian - tasted like it was made of old/bad oil - Aloo paratha - Pro - made of wheat, con - not much filling - Cutlet ragada patties - Pro - The patties tasted great, cons- the patties and ragada were served separately and this may not be the way everyone prefers they're ragada. Also, the ragada was made of chickpeas and not so flavourful. - Bhelpuri - Super yumm - Dabeli - The people at the store told me it would be coconut-y, but ai still took this since I've missed it for a while now. it was coconut-y, but I didn't feel like it had the fresh and nutty Dabeli taste I was looking for. It was an ok dish overall. Falooda - Yumm but really felt they were stingy with the quantity. Pros: Food tasty, good menu selections, food is ready fairly quickly after ordering, nice ambience. Cons: some food items not warm enough. Also, they charged gratuity automatically even though we had no server at our table to refill water, or take our order (You have to place the order at the counter, and then the food is brought to you), but not enough service to justify automatic gratuity. Even when i asked for boxes, I was asked to come to the front to get them. Also, would love to see the staff smile at least once :) Overall, the pros outweighed the cons, and food was in fact very tasty so didn't want to dock them more than 1 star.
