We've been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and finally decided to give it a try. It's very expensive and a bit bland. We got seated right away which was nice and parking was free in the garage. I had the market salad and added grilled salmon. It ended up being $26 dollars for the salmon salad and I wasn't that impressed. The roasted cauliflower and roasted carrots were both served cold and very hard. It wasn't as enjoyable to eat as it looked. Presentation of the salad was very nice though. I ordered the cheesy mashed potatoes and grilled chicken for my son. She was super informative, helpful, and kind. We were pretty hungry, so we ordered right away. We ordered two Sparkling Prickly Pear Tisanes, the organic Tuscan kale salad with blackened shrimp and the teriyaki quinoa bowl with blackened shrimp. I've previously really liked True Food Kitchen but either it's gone downhill or we all ordered poorly, except my 6 year old who had cheese pizza. Hers was definitely the best. I had the seasonal sourdough butternut squash pizza & my husband had the spinach mushroom pizza. Neither had any cheese aside from dollops of ricotta on top, so all of the toppings fell right off. Neither had any flavor. At the very least they needed some salt. Mine could've done with some kind of herbs or a balsamic drizzle or something. They both just sounded much better than they were. My other daughter had the kids burger, which was decent, but the fries weren't even edible. They tasted like they'd been sitting out for several hours. For a kid to not even eat fries is bad. I love that True Food focuses on quality ingredients and has a lot of gluten free options. I believe they also don't use seed oil, which is a huge plus! They also have a patio which is fun for a nice day. Unfortunately, when we visited today, the service was extremely slow and our server did not check on us at all so we had to flag him down to let him know that our steak arrived cold and raw in the middle. It took such a long time to get the steak to the table, we didn't have time to wait on them to try and put it back on the grill or make a new one so we just asked them to take it off the bill (which they did) and then we left. It was strange because the outside seemed medium but the inside was raw! Met a friend for dinner- she is vegan and I was not eating meat on Friday- so plenty of items to choose from on the menu. I got the tuna poke bowl which was good but small portion for what it cost. True Food is a place that just feels special and unique when you walk in. I love the ambiance and warmth of the space. It was very busy when we went during the holiday break but we were seated quickly. Service was not bad and considering how busy they were, our server was really all over the place and moving the entire time. Our meal came out quickly and everyone was satisfied with that they ordered. The portions are on the smaller side. The food was decent and the service was decent in the beginning but took a turn towards the end. However, there was an issue with my son's flavored lemonade. I had specifically ordered it without ice, but the waitress brought it with ice. It sat on the table for a while, and some of the ice had melted, making it look very watery. When I asked for a fresh lemonade, the waitress gave me a hard time and said I would have to pay for it. It wouldn't have been a problem to pay--my concern was that it was her mistake to begin with. She even suggested just draining the remaining ice, but the drink was already diluted. When I asked to speak with a manager, she declined and said the manager gives them a hard time about these things. While I was in the restroom, my husband said the waitress came by and added more flavoring to the same watery lemonade. When I returned, she smiled and told me it was a fresh one. I was surprised--why lie about something so minor? I also noticed on the receipt that we were charged $4.50 per refill for tea. My husband and I had two teas and one refill each, and we were charged four times--$4.50 each time. At most restaurants, refills for tea and lemonade are complimentary. Tea, especially, is usually refilled at no cost--it's just water and a tea bag. It was clear the waitress felt uncomfortable bringing another lemonade, and she even said management is strict about "those types of things" because it affects their bottom line. I was truly expecting a better experience, but here we are! My co worker recommended this place to me because of the vegetarian options on the menu so I was excited to try them out. I ended up ordering the plant base double cheeseburger and I was not happy, not because of the patty. It was really tasty, but they did not have anything that should have come on this burger, no cheese no tomatoes, and very little pickled onion and did not let me know until the burger actually came out. The side orders were slim so I ended up ordering a salad, which was only spinach and cucumbers, how disappointing was that? My friend said that I should have tried the Buckhead location , so maybe I will give that one a try the next time but I would not suggest this place . It somehow manages to feel like a treat and like you're being virtuous all at once. I love True Food Kitchen and can confidently say this is my favorite nationwide chain. They have healthy, yet comforting foods that let you indulge without feeling (too) guilty. The atmosphere is always bright and a fantastic place for lunch with a girlfriend, date night, or even work meals. This was my first time trying the Alpharetta location and we came with a reservation and ordered an app, two entrees, and shared a dessert- we could have gotten away with sharing one entree. - charred cauliflower (5/5): this was fantastic. Creamy tahini sauce with pistachios and dates- so good. The smaller pieces were perfectly charred while the larger pieces were soft and soggy. I wish all the pieces were cut consistently and were charred and crispy. - southwest bison pizza (4/5): this was very good. We always ask for a side of marinara sauce to dip. These flavors were cool but 1400 calories for a small pizza? The margheria at 850 was much more worth it. - mom's meatloaf (2/5): edible but just not good. Dry meatloaf with gravy and undercooked vegetables. I wish it was more tender with a ketchup-based sauce. - carrot cake (5/5): very good. I asked for the cake to be warmed and the icing to be placed on top after. The icing did not have the satisfying cream cheese taste and texture, but the cake was very moist. read more

Love this place!! I always go for one of the bowls (the teriyaki and the Korean bowls are probably my favorites), but everything on the menu is healthy and delicious. This time I went for the Hawaiian fried rice and it did not disappoint! I also love the interior design; the lighting is soft and the decor is almost going for modern-farmhouse style. Definitely compliments the farm-to-table and freshly/locally sourced ingredients and goods. I don't drink that often, but this most recent time I visited with friends I did order a cocktail and it was AMAZING! I got the Pom Collins, and I honestly want to go back for another this weekend. We came for a late lunch. The server was extremely nice. Warm and caring without being obtrusive. The ambiance was excellent. Bright and airy with pretty decor. The food was mostly good. I had the Chinese chicken salad but with salmon instead of chicken. The salad portion itself as well as the dressing was extremely delicious and I would order it again in a heartbeat. I would advise just sticking with the chicken in the salad as I wasn't a huge fan of the way the salmon was prepared. I felt it was overcooked and I don't like the type of salmon they use. I suggest the restaurant/chef try the fish at Tender Greens in California and try to emulate that. My husband got the air fried chicken sandwich and fries, which for him, were a dud. Too dry and the chicken part of the sandwich much too thin. We enjoyed the refresher. The lemonade was a bit too sweet. I loved the coffee. It's not easy to find a nicely brewed organic coffee outside of my home. It was served with raw cane sugar in rough cubes on the side, which I thought was a nice presentation. The carrot cake I absolutely loved. I keep thinking about it and wanting it. It is very lightly sweet. The cream cheese icing tastes a lot like cream cheese. The waiting staff that we got looked like they had been dragged in from a bad hangover and told to work double shifts. The girl was not friendly, and rolled her eyes so much that I thought she had spotted something in the ceiling. She was one of those that think they can remember the whole table order without writing it down- then gets defensive when they mess it up. This restaurant continues to go down hill! I live a block away in the Avalon area, and have been to this restaurant several times, each time the experience gets worse and worse. I don't plan to eat here again. We were greeted by an unfriendly, snooty waitress. we ordered the $20 burger medium, it arrived over cooked/well done and dry as a hockey puck, seems like they cook up a batch, leave them in a bowl and reheat them when ordered. Needless to say we had to send it back. Five Guys does a better burger. The other item was a a dripping wet wrap with two little pieces of chicken in it. The protein addition is extra, and not worth it. There are plenty of great restaurants in the Avalon location, this is not one of them, not sure how long this place will be around. read more
