We've been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and finally decided to give it a try. It's very expensive and a bit bland. We got seated right away which was nice and parking was free in the garage. I had the market salad and added grilled salmon. It ended up being $26 dollars for the salmon salad and I wasn't that impressed. The roasted cauliflower and roasted carrots were both served cold and very hard. It wasn't as enjoyable to eat as it looked. Presentation of the salad was very nice though. I ordered the cheesy mashed potatoes and grilled chicken for my son. The chicken seemed over cooked and burnt. The environment was decent but overall I thought this restaurant was just ok for the price. read more

I will be concept behind true food and have been there a few times at different locations. While I generally have a decent experience at this particular one in the Avalon, I don't think I've ever had any occasion where it was consistently above. On this late Thursday evening, it was not very crowded and I got seated promptly. The server was friendly and brought my water over pretty quickly. I had to flag her down in order to order my salad and specifically instructed her how I wanted my add on salmon to be prepared. She agreed and seemed to understand, but the food was delivered with the salmon way overcooked. While they did attempt to rectify the situation with a replacement, the replacement was just slightly better and still overcooked, but I did not want to complain again. And she seemed preoccupied since I had to flag her down again just to get a refill of water. It seemed to take forever to even get my final check which I had hoped to have sooner so I could beat the impending storm. Unfortunately, she took so long that I ended up having to navigate a downpour afterwards. The salad was very unexciting, although the ingredients seem to be very appealing. Unfortunately, the chicken was really dry as if it had been sitting around for quite a while. With the restaurant being so empty, and several staff just hanging around, I'm very surprised at the lack of hospitality and food quality. I love that True Food focuses on quality ingredients and has a lot of gluten free options. I believe they also don't use seed oil, which is a huge plus! They also have a patio which is fun for a nice day. Unfortunately, when we visited today, the service was extremely slow and our server did not check on us at all so we had to flag him down to let him know that our steak arrived cold and raw in the middle. It took such a long time to get the steak to the table, we didn't have time to wait on them to try and put it back on the grill or make a new one so we just asked them to take it off the bill (which they did) and then we left. It was strange because the outside seemed medium but the inside was raw! I've previously really liked True Food Kitchen but either it's gone downhill or we all ordered poorly, except my 6 year old who had cheese pizza. Hers was definitely the best. Neither had any flavor. At the very least they needed some salt. Mine could've done with some kind of herbs or a balsamic drizzle or something. They both just sounded much better than they were. My other daughter had the kids burger, which was decent, but the fries weren't even edible. They tasted like they'd been sitting out for several hours. For a kid to not even eat fries is bad. True Food is a place that just feels special and unique when you walk in. I love the ambiance and warmth of the space. It was very busy when we went during the holiday break but we were seated quickly. Service was not bad and considering how busy they were, our server was really all over the place and moving the entire time. Our meal came out quickly and everyone was satisfied with that they ordered. The portions are on the smaller side. I do think it's a little pricier than the average place but it felt like a treat eating there and my mom loved it, which was all that mattered. read more

The food was decent and the service was decent in the beginning but took a turn towards the end. However, there was an issue with my son's flavored lemonade. I had specifically ordered it without ice, but the waitress brought it with ice. It sat on the table for a while, and some of the ice had melted, making it look very watery. When I asked for a fresh lemonade, the waitress gave me a hard time and said I would have to pay for it. It wouldn't have been a problem to pay--my concern was that it was her mistake to begin with. She even suggested just draining the remaining ice, but the drink was already diluted. When I asked to speak with a manager, she declined and said the manager gives them a hard time about these things. While I was in the restroom, my husband said the waitress came by and added more flavoring to the same watery lemonade. When I returned, she smiled and told me it was a fresh one. I was surprised--why lie about something so minor? I also noticed on the receipt that we were charged $4.50 per refill for tea. My husband and I had two teas and one refill each, and we were charged four times--$4.50 each time. At most restaurants, refills for tea and lemonade are complimentary. Tea, especially, is usually refilled at no cost--it's just water and a tea bag. It was clear the waitress felt uncomfortable bringing another lemonade, and she even said management is strict about "those types of things" because it affects their bottom line. It somehow manages to feel like a treat and like you're being virtuous all at once. I love True Food Kitchen and can confidently say this is my favorite nationwide chain. They have healthy, yet comforting foods that let you indulge without feeling (too) guilty. The atmosphere is always bright and a fantastic place for lunch with a girlfriend, date night, or even work meals. This was my first time trying the Alpharetta location and we came with a reservation and ordered an app, two entrees, and shared a dessert- we could have gotten away with sharing one entree. - charred cauliflower (5/5): this was fantastic. Creamy tahini sauce with pistachios and dates- so good. The smaller pieces were perfectly charred while the larger pieces were soft and soggy. I wish all the pieces were cut consistently and were charred and crispy. - southwest bison pizza (4/5): this was very good. We always ask for a side of marinara sauce to dip. These flavors were cool but 1400 calories for a small pizza? The margheria at 850 was much more worth it. - mom's meatloaf (2/5): edible but just not good. Dry meatloaf with gravy and undercooked vegetables. I wish it was more tender with a ketchup-based sauce. - carrot cake (5/5): very good. I asked for the cake to be warmed and the icing to be placed on top after. The icing did not have the satisfying cream cheese taste and texture, but the cake was very moist. read more

Love this place!! I always go for one of the bowls (the teriyaki and the Korean bowls are probably my favorites), but everything on the menu is healthy and delicious. This time I went for the Hawaiian fried rice and it did not disappoint! I also love the interior design; the lighting is soft and the decor is almost going for modern-farmhouse style. Definitely compliments the farm-to-table and freshly/locally sourced ingredients and goods. I don't drink that often, but this most recent time I visited with friends I did order a cocktail and it was AMAZING! I got the Pom Collins, and I honestly want to go back for another this weekend. I also tried their unique take on a Moscow Mule (vodka, no ginger beer), and it was fantastic! Very refreshing and I almost liked it better than a regular one I've had elsewhere. Any of the salads seem like hits - the gourmet chopped with a creamy avocado and a well seasoned, perfectly cooked piece of salmon with a sufficiently acidic dressing and enough crunch to remain interesting - this was stellar. The turkey burger was well seasoned, juicy, creative and on an excellently paired bun. I love that this place is super kid friendly. Lots of parents and their little ones. We came for a late lunch. The server was extremely nice. Warm and caring without being obtrusive. The ambiance was excellent. Bright and airy with pretty decor. The food was mostly good. I had the Chinese chicken salad but with salmon instead of chicken. The salad portion itself as well as the dressing was extremely delicious and I would order it again in a heartbeat. I would advise just sticking with the chicken in the salad as I wasn't a huge fan of the way the salmon was prepared. I felt it was overcooked and I don't like the type of salmon they use. I suggest the restaurant/chef try the fish at Tender Greens in California and try to emulate that. My husband got the air fried chicken sandwich and fries, which for him, were a dud. Too dry and the chicken part of the sandwich much too thin. We enjoyed the refresher. The lemonade was a bit too sweet. I loved the coffee. It's not easy to find a nicely brewed organic coffee outside of my home. It was served with raw cane sugar in rough cubes on the side, which I thought was a nice presentation. The carrot cake I absolutely loved. I keep thinking about it and wanting it. It is very lightly sweet. The cream cheese icing tastes a lot like cream cheese. The candied orange on top is so yummy and provides the sweetness you may crave to alternate with your bites of delectable cake. We also got vanilla bean ice cream, which was good. read more

I had the grass-fed steak, which exploded with flavor. It was served with perfectly cooked brussel sprouts, charred onion, mini sweet peppers and black rice over a Peruvian pepper sauce. It was a great combination of savory and sweet. My wife had the trout, served with arugula and black quinoa. This dish really needed some kind of sauce, though. It was very bland.
