I was pleasantly surprised by the length and design of the course. One of the more fun courses i've found near the city to be honest. The clubhouse was a nightmare though. Get there early for your tee time because they move incredibly slow and you will, most likely, be waiting in a line just to check in. read more

This course offers the best value in town! I played golf there many times and everyone from the pro shop clerks to starters have taken the time to learn my name. I often walk in during twilight as a single and the starters have always gone out of their way to accommodate me (although I recommend making a reservation if you are coming from far away!). The golf course itself is built into the woods! It's a uniquely charming course when put in the context of the Chicago area. Many of the other courses are wide open around here and you can see many other tee boxes from the one you are standing on. Indian Boundary is built into the woods and every hole offers a sense of seclusion. There is a ton of deer roaming the course and I always smile when paired with people from downtown because they are always pulling out their cameras to take pictures. Finally - the course is suitable for all skill levels. I played a few days ago and I thought it was interesting that the guy said, "I would love to bring my Mom up here'. While the course plays rather short, it has many wide-open fairways, it also has unique features that challenge the seasoned golfer. read more

My husband has recently found an interest in golf and has been playing at a course near our house, then he found this course and enjoyed playing here until today. Today I decided to go with him. He paid for me as a golfer even tho I didn't play, I was his chauffeur on the course for the day. We were completely enjoying the weather and courses beauty. Shortly after it started to get dark, we decided to end the game early without even touching the last 2 holes. When we were loading the car with our belongings from the cart an employee, ANDY, stomped over with his flash light on asking if we got everything off the cart. ANDY then proceeded to scold us, if you will. He spoke with such disrespect, almost yelling that we were taking advantage of the cart use and that we were 30mins past the time allowed for cart use, which was not explained to us upon arrival. Said "what were you doing out there using light up balls and flashlights, which we do not allow. We are people too and there are coyotes out here." He also pretended to recognize my husband saying this was the second time he's done this before zooming off in the golf cart. My husband has never seen that man in his life. We paid 130 for that round of golf and will never spend another penny there. And neither will anyone we know. Good luck dealing with ANDY at this golf course. read more

Indian Boundary has proven to be an inept member of Youth on Course (YOC) and the Taylor Made DRIVE Club. For 2 years they have chosen not to honor the agreement they made to make golf more accessible to youth by offering rates of $1 last year and for free this year. There is always an excuse as to why they don't honor it and it is disheartening for young golfers who show up being promised the moon only to be crashed back to Earth. You'd think in two years they'd be able to figure it out. They are rude, inept, and unwilling to find a simple solution. The saddest part is YOC and the DRIVE Club got my youth interested and excited about golf, and now they don't even want to go anymore. Way to discourage bringing others into the sport that normally wouldn't dare to dream about it. read more

I don't know why anyone would bother with the lack of courtesy of the staff of this Cook County Forest Preserve course. The management is consistently unhelpful. Don't waste your time here. I saw a threesome on the tee and the starter couldn't figure out that a single could join them. Don't waste your time with either their incompetence or lack of regard. read more

When it comes to forest preserve courses on the north side, this is probably the nicest. It's well maintained, the staff are always friendly, and parts of it can be pretty challenging for the average golfer. I'll definitely keep coming back to Indian Boundary! read more

I'm here 2 times a month. I like this place because you don't have to be a pro to golf here. The course is well maintained. Being nestled in the woods you will see a variety of wild life from deer to all different kinds of birds and small animals. No groundhogs stealing your balls. Bring bug spray because the mosquitos are fierce and hungry. read more

We played Indian Boundary Golf Course (18-holes) on a Sunday in April around 9:30AM and finished our round at roughly 2:30PM playing a moderate pace. The course is extremely wide-open at times, while maintaining challenging approaches and multi-level greens. They had just aerated the greens so the putting wasnt superb, but overall the course is in excellent shape and seems to be well maintained. We got a great del at $60 for two plus a cart and were paired with two other local regulars that were a lot of fun to knock the ball aroubnd with. The marshall gave us a great breakdown fo teh course when we checked in and even offered a little advice with the high winds. There was no shortage of wildlife either as we spotted several deer on hole 2, a guy fishing in a muddy lake, and flocks of geese. I pasted in some of the text from the website. I played 18 holes here with good old friend yesterday and we had a mega blast! Sure it was a little packed because of the weather, and the wait at the 2nd and 8th holes wera crazy long, but just being out there and running around hitting the baLL was great. I got to practice the patented shake & bake swing! Overall for the price and the proximity to the city this is a good place to play. I really like this course, maybe it's because I only live 2 miles away. Nice course for all skill levels. The only complaint I have is the pace is very slow and it's always crowded on the weekends. Good deals can be had on weekdays from the fpg website - $32 w/cart mon-fri. No discounts on weekends. It's run by the forest preserve, so expect to see some deer crossing the fairways now and then. read more

This is one if the better FP courses. It is going to be packed on the weekends and there are always a bunch of old timers here. The course has some longer holes but few people bother to repair ball marks. Etiquette people. read more

Starter made us start at hole 2 after we showed up 5 minutes late. We were ready to play but kept saying that we had to skip the first hole because there were people that were lining up to play behind us. This was at 6:55am and there was nobody behind us the entire round. He also said we needed to pair up with the twosome ahead of us. I asked to not pair up because I don't want the extra exposure during the pandemic. He wouldn't allow it. We were profiled because of our age. I will never play this course again. It's a shame because outside of today I've never had a bad experience at this course, but I will not tolerate ageist behavior from a hack on a municipal golf course who needed to feed his power trip. I shot a 73(+1) and am 36 years old. Sorry Pops, but you need to stop treating people like they're your kids. Terrible way to treat people that have spent over $100 at your facility. read more

Big wood playground. At least twice the size of a normal park Pond that had ducks to feed. Path for bikes, if there are not to many walkers. Big round cement fountain during the summer time. Tennis courts. Areas to play with your dog if not too crowded. Small zoo with animals, sometimes. But a little nature area to walk in. read more

4 stars for the enjoyment if you know what you're getting: 1. Close to the City for those of us living in the City that we don't have to get in hrs of traffic to and fro; 2. Course is in pretty decent shape; 3. A LOT of short, score-able holes which makes for a fun time and good score and some longer, legit holes to make you feel like you challenged yourself -- so a good place to take more novice guys that they will enjoy themselves; 4. Priced appropriately; and 5. good hot dogs! All in all, a fun course if you know that you're playing a short course that may have a group of hackers in front of you. We had a 5 1/2 hour round of golf on Sunday. There was a threesome in front of us and a FIVESOME IN FRONT OF THEM. None of them knew how to golf. That's okay but not once did we see a ranger on the course. You'd think someone would've asked them to keep play moving. It was an awful round of golf and I'll never go back. read more

Of course it's slow if you go on a weekend! It's a inexpensive public course in Chicago! You want to play a 3.5 hour game of golf, then either go during a week day, join a private club or go and pay to play some place that cost $100+ a person. The fairways need some work, but once again... You get what you pay for. Friendly staff, cute beer girls and they serve Fat Tire! Sure it's in a can, but it's FAT TIRE! Cheep golf and good beer. I can't believe how well they redesigned this place. Back in the Mid 90's, it was a overpriced dump. The fairways and greens are in wonderful shape. Not only does Indian Boundry offer a challenging course, it offers beautiful scenery as well. Like Edgebrook, Indian Boundry is also a nature preserve. The course is filled with Deer. Golf and Wildlife, not a bad way to spend a few hours. The only bad thing about this course is the pace of play. If you try to play on the weekend, a six hour round is not out of the question, but if you pick your spots and play on a day that's not busy, you will have a enjoyable experience. The Bottom line on Indian Boundry is: Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful course and reasonable rates makes Indian Boundry a must see destination for everyone from the Hacker to the low handicapper. If you pick your spots and walk on when the course isn't busy, you will enjoy a wonderful golf experience. read more

Played here yesterday, and I give this course 2 big thumbs up. Some of the forest preserve courses tend to be a bit unkempt, but this course is very nice, considering we've had the rainiest July ever, the course is in pretty good shape, the holes are challenging, the fairways are wide and long, all in all a nice place to play. The mosquitoes were terrible, but given it's been raining to the extent that we may need to start building Arcs soon, and this course is in the woods it is to be expected. I was nicely surprised at the amount of wildlife we saw - deer, a coyote (yes a coyote) and a blue heron. Nice!! read more

I like Indian Boundary a lot. It's a public course, and the rates are on the low side, so yeah, you're gonna see your fair share of hackers (me) and drinkers (me) and goof-offs (me). Seriously though, my buddy and I shoot in the mid 90s or so (high 80s on this course), so this is a perfect spot. It's a short course and a there's not a lot of imagination to a bunch of the holes, but it's really quite pretty, and well-maintained for a public course (see Jackson Park or Marovitz for contrasting courses). The staff is nice, people are friendly, the carts are gas-powered, and they have beers in 24 oz cans. All in all a great place to spend 4-5 hours. I wish there was a little more difficulty, and I wish the other golfers fixed their ball marks on the greens, but other than that, hard to complain about much on this course. Plan on going back for sure. read more

Yes, this place is cheap. And if you're playing during a non-peak time, go for it. However, if you're coming on the weekend, keep driving. The pace of play here is just horrible... I'm talking 6+ hour round. In particular, the wait on holes 4-8 is just insane... You're waiting for multiple groups to tee off even before you're on the box. As a guy who plays a lot of golf, mainly at municipal courses, Indian Boundary is the slowest course that I have played. And, that says a lot, especially if you ever played Jackson Park on a Saturday morning. The course itself is just okay, with the par 5s being very short. read more

I have never experienced an hour plus back-up at any course. Unless of course weather induced delays. I do not understand how this place digs a hole for itself every Saturday/Sunday weather excluded. There is a starter, however, i have never seen a ranger out and about assuring that players KEEP THE PACE. When you do finally get to play, if you decided to drive, good luck getting a cart. They do not have enough carts to accommodate two per hole. Why have carts at all if that is the case? Last time out, no phone calls, no text updates from the course, I show up to find my tee time (I was 30 minutes early) has a delayed start of one hour. I have to wait 90 minutes to play??? This was after I had already paid - Why didn't the cashier inform me? Why was I not informed? The starter is the one who told me that my group could wait over there with all the others. Who are these people running this place? Needless to say, I raised a stink and took a refund. The CCFPD needs to hire someone who can actually run a golf course. read more

The course is actually decently challenging. Not as long as your typical course so if your a big hitter a couple of the par 4's are driveable. Course is generally open. Very few sand traps and water is a factor on only a few holes. So if your looking to play somewhere pretty cheap (considering it's Chicago and everything is a rip off) and get back into your game this is a good course. If you consider yourself pretty good at golf and your in midseason form, make sure you realize what your paying for. read more

I'm none too picky when it comes to golf. As long as it's 30 degrees and snowless, I'll get out when I can. Thankfully, IB is open and adjusts its rates to the conditions of the weather and course. In the regular season, however, it gets crowded with slow hackers and gambling jerks who think they own the place. They used to have a great early-bird ($15 before 7-18 holes/walking). I really enjoy this course. early bird rates are very reasonably priced and over the years that i have been going to this course they have improved more and more every year. It is very challenging for the area only problem is that many first time golfers go to this course and it can slow down play considerably. Going early is my best suggestion. read more
