It was super quite. 1/10 busy. This place gets a 3 star only for the wait time I had today with no crowd. They should definitely work on it :) When mentioned to the register, he said it's better to order ahead of time- which may make the process a lot easier for anyone looking to have a quick stop. Nice place but terrible food. It seemed like it had been sitting in its container too long before being prepped and everything was cold! And everything had way too many tomatoes and big onions in it. Also my son vomited in the parking lot. Age of food in those containers needs to be closely monitored and they should be cleaned out. My son literally barfed and my stomach was ruined for a few days. Grocery store is in the front & they have a little counter in the back where you can get vegetarian Indian food. As soon as I entered I was greeted by Abhi. Him and his mom was there running the business. He was helping people in the store & his mom was in the back cooking.He was very nice! He answered all my questions and even helped me shop . He walked me around and showed me what to get . And explained about the different food items. He said he was a vegetarian so the food they cook at the store is vegetarian street food. Great gem in Modesto! We love their little cafe in the back of the store. We ordered pakora, pani puri, samosas, some naan and 2 curry daily combo. Everything was great! This is not watered down Indian food. If you want heat, you can ask for the heat. First off, this was some of the best tamarind water we've had with our pani puri. The pani puri tasted great. The only suggestion we had was to chop or puree the potatoes some more. The chunks were a tad too big to fit into the puri shells. Samosas were huge and crispy. Loaded with veggies. Pakora was flavor and crispy. A+ on the chutney too. We picked the pea and cheese curry for our curry daily combo. Both excellent. The roti was more tortilla like. The garlic naan was more on the fluffy soft side. Overall, food was great and service was great from the staff. Everything was well packed and presented well. FYI, call ahead as all the food is made to order to reduce your wait time. They also take Apple/Google Pay if you do not want to touch money during these covid times. read more

All your dals, rice, flour, spices, ghee, chai, sweets...they have everything. A whole wall of refrigerated/frozen goods. Indian jewelry. DVD's. And delicious chaat. It's all here. The protocol for ordering food is ordering at the front counter, w the cashier, & not at the back counter w the kitchen. The cashier that took care of us was a complete doll. My mom ordered the samosa chaat ($3.99) to go. I can tell you that the aroma it filled the car with was just amazing. I seriously questioned my choice to pass & eat something else at home. The samosas are huge. Since it was a to-go order, they appropriately put the chaat in a separate container on the side so as to avoid leaving us w a soggy mess by the time we got home. You're to pour the chaat over the samosas, & feast away. It was delicious! Absolutely loaded w flavors. Robust, complex, some heat, & a touch of sweetness. I'm picky, but my mom is even worse. This review is solely based on the restaurant/cafe inside the grocery store! First off no signs or even the name on the outside of the building, just the initials I.G.C. We went here at around 2pm on the weekend expecting food to be fresh and delicious but boy were we wrong! Once we entered, the store is small and has majority snacks and very little actual grocery or fresh produce(counted about 6 items in produce and all looked old). Once we got to the restaurant in the back we ordered some snacks: 1 order of paani puri, 1 order of sev papdi chaat, and 1 order of dahi papdi chaat. Our order was ready in about 5 mins as we walked through the store. We immediately paid and sat down at the picnic tables outside the store to eat the food so the chaat does not get soggy. Paani Puri- order came with 8 pieces out of a container of haldiram not fresh puri's. And a very small container of (UNSEASONED) boiled potatoes and chick peas. When I say small I mean the container the Taquerias use to give you free salsa with chips. The paani was in a large container and was pinkish/redish in color. No spice or seasoning in that as well. Just sweet water with small hint of chaat masala. Overall major fail on all aspects of the dish. Sev Papdi chaat and Dahi papdi chaat- both items were identical and the only difference was a small portion of dahi(yogurt) on one dish. Both used the same watered down sauce and same stale out of the box papdi. Both were topped off with a pico de gallo like mixture with raw tomatoes, onions, and a crap load of raw garlic!!!!!! Both were topped with again a spoonful of Haldirams sev fresh out of a bag from the shelf that was made in probably 2015. We both took a bite of each and immediately threw it in the trash! We were not able to eat more than a bite of each dish and well $17 dollar down the drain or in this case the trash can. I went here based on the reviews from Yelp, but something obviously has changed, customer service was nice but never nice enough to justify buying food to throw immediately in the trash. Cleanest Indian restaurant/grocery store I've been to in the valley. I really appreciate how organized and clean this place is. 2 bathrooms available and both clean as well. Staff is always very polite and helpful. There was a customer who was on his way out who was being rude to the staff and they were quite gracious to him despite his tone. So glad he was on his way out. I applaud the staff for being on top of their game consistently. I never experience lack of customer service, cleanliness, organization or flavor when I come to this restaurant/grocery store. Having the to-go samosas now and I love that BOTH chutneys are delicious. In other restaurants I've been to, the green chutney always lacks in flavor and freshness. I usually go to IGC for their freshly-made Indian food dishes. The store is family-owned with friendly, excellent service. Prices are very reasonable and the lunch menu items change daily. I can't understand all the 5 star reviews! Something smells fishy to me. Stopped by to try the place because of all the "wonderful reviews". Boy were they wrong! First of all the customer service was lacking because of the language barrier. Even though the person who took the order spoke English, she didn't comprehend what I was asking. I had to ask for ice three separate times before she finally understood. I asked if the rice came with the meal and she said yes, but then proceeded to charge me for a side of rice. I don't mind paying for rice, but the point is that she didn't understand what I asked. They weren't rude, but then again, they weren't overly friendly either. The food was not delicious like everyone claims. It was mediocre at best. The naan was greasy and did not look fresh. The buttered chicken I asked for no cilantro twice and yet it came with cilantro on top. This again was probably due to the language barrier. The buttered chicken did not have many pieces of chicken, it was mostly just sauce. I would not return here, nor would I recommend anyone else to dine here. read more

Amazing food! We had a thali n masala dosa! Thali had shahi paneer, bhindi masala, dal, rice, raita n 3 rotis. THE BEST rotis I have had so far(not kidding) The curries were great too.
