RANDY took the bike right in, started filling out a work order, and let me know it will be covered under warranty.

Part of that service was to include new tires. As the riding season rolled on I realized we probably wouldn't have enough tire left to make it to SLC. With that in mind I called Sturgis Motorsports (our nearest US BMW shop) a couple weeks in advance and set up an appointment for first thing in the morning on a Tuesday. My thinking was if someone was going to destroy the TPM sensors, might as well be a place that stood a reasonable chance of having them in stock. At 0330 that morning, with both fuel tanks topped off, I turned south for Sturgis. Six hours later (yah, the nearest dealer was a six hour ride away) I was waiting at their front door for them to open (because of the time difference I got there a half hour early)... That's when the fun started. "I'm here for my 0900 appointment for new tires." "We don't do appointments. I don't know who told you that you had an appointment. It's first come, first served." Fortunately I was first come... "We will get started right away." "Where is the customer lounge and coffee pot?" "I think there are some chairs upstairs, the nearest coffee shop is a quarter-mile down the road that direction..." "Please tell them to put 38 psi in the front and 40 psi in the rear." "We don't do that. They are going to put in whatever the sidewall says to use for maximum pressure. You'll get whatever you get." TWO AND A HALF HOURS later, they finally get done and hand me a bill for $575 which included $50 for *each* tire for just the swap... I haven't ever paid that much for a swap even when I carried the wheels and outsourced tires into a random shop. Let alone when I was paying a premium price for "discounted" tires from the place that was doing to swap. Yah... he told me I received a "discount" on the tire price. Turns out their 'discount' was 20% *over* MSRP. Yah... I'll set fire to the bike and walk away before I even let them put maximum pressure air in my tires again.

A buddy rode back to Sundance to pick up a tractor battery from an auto parts store. Riding down Cleveland ST, he saw a sign for Woody's HD repair! They had a battery in stock, and he brought it to me and I was on my way. Unfortunately, 20 miles down the road, the battery and engine light came back on, and I knew I had an electrical issue and immediately pulled over. I knew I could not ride the 30 miles back to the shop, so I used the receipt and called Woody's. They sent a trailer and picked me up. Woody's was jammed as this was Sturgis Bike Week. They had correctly identified a burned out stator and had (1) in stock. 2 hours later, I was back on the road and the rest of my trip was without further mechanical issues. Erica, the shop manager and wife of the owner, was the nicest, most understanding person I have ever met. She was very reassuring that my bike was in good hands and would be fixed. The prices were very fair, and Justin, the owner and tech, was very capable. This is an OASIS in the middle of nowhere (as far as a broke down bike is concerned), and all of us felt lucky to be is such good hands. Another surprise was that Deluxe HD was also located across the street (new shop), but I much prefer Independent repair shops.

I always receive help and very friendly treatment from all staff whether it's the parts dept, clothing and accessory dept. or motorcycle sales dept. I'm making sure when a new cycle purchase is going to be made it will be at Black Hills Harley Davidson nowhere else! So many of the staff come and talk to me and ask if I need help or not and if so, they will go and find or get me what i was looking for, I would like to name and thank the staff personally, but my memory stinks, however I'm sure they do know who they are and know how much I really do appreciate their help. Thank You, Chuck Schulz

THEN the positive feelings fell apart because as i was talking to the service guys, a sales guy overheard and approached me and stated, "instead of going through all of that headache, why don't you just trade your bike in for a new one". I actually thought about that but was hesistant because i didn't want to get taken advantage of with my trade. My bike is a 2016 CVO Street Glide with about another $10,000 in upgrades. It had critical motor failure but (and here is the funny part), it had a full warranty so, the engine was going to be replaced, not just repaired. The sales guy knew that but still "his boss" (Made it a point to state it wasn't him coming up with this number) offered ten grand for my bike. I laughed and thanked him for wasting two hours of my time and insulting me. i hauled my bike home, had my local dealer put a new engine in it under warranty and was offered $27,000 for my bike by my dealer. If you have service needs, the guys are top notch. Sales? Well, they aren't any different than your typical cheesy sales guy but i'd go elsewhere given the choice. I'll never buy from this place for sure.
