7/26/26 My husband…read moreand I like to take a cave trip every year for our anniversary. This year, we traveled from Ohio to the Bristol area. Gap Cave was a great stop for the way back home. I will admit that we originally did not go in with high expectations. We saw the $8 price tag and thought that meant this cave must be underwhelming with the price being THAT low compared to all other tours that we have been on. Gap Cave was the 29th cave/cavern that we have visited in the US. When I tell you that we were pleasantly surprised, that is the understatement of the century. We loved the experience of getting to use the flashlights to light our own path while in the cave. The hike to the cave itself is super beautiful. Our tour guides(Lucas, Dylan, and Mackenzie) were amazing. You could see all of their enthusiasm for their job which is always great to see! Gap Cavern has an amazing amount of formations. We enjoyed our tour here more than the Domes and Dripstones tour at Mammoth Cave. The visitors center of Cumberland Gap National Park was also super nice! The employees and rangers were so friendly and kind! We highly recommend making this stop!

I am so glad I did. The guy who was helping assured me I'd be fine and he'd watch out for me. My horse was Oreo, a beautiful black and white horse. The trail takes about 45 minutes. It was a bit muddy, which they said was unusual, so the horses had to leap around some of the mud, but it still was so much fun. I'd go again, for sure.

When people are congregated on one side of the bridge it causes the traffic on one side or the other to have to wait to cross as you can only use one lane as to avoid possibly hitting someone standing there. That's not even to mention the variety of things that are I the water that you can't see such as old barbed wire.

For us, this has become one of those familiar road trip traditions. It's a great place to stretch your legs, take a quick break from the highway, pick up travel information, and prepare for the next leg of the journey. The Welcome Center is clean, well-maintained, and always seems to be a popular stop for travelers heading north. I'm curious... How many of you make this same stop when traveling northbound on I-75? Has the Kentucky Welcome Center become a traditional stop for your family over the years, or do you usually keep rolling down the interstate? I'd love to hear how many of us have made this a regular part of our trips north.

This is a State Park park camp ground, and it is one of the smallest that I've been to. I liked…read morethat the smallness though, because it wasn't as busy and didn't have normal hustle and bustle noises of the bigger campgrounds. There are many camp grounds around this area and this one really doesn't compare the other ones that I've stayed at. Don't think that you can walk to the falls from here, because it's quite a long way away and it's on an incline. Here is my beef with campground... The sites are tiny, not suitable for rvs at all. There is a limit to the number of tents and patrons per site, but the campground attendants don't follow that rule. I hate to be a complainer about it, but when the people at the site beside of us had more than ten people and three tents, their chatter and laughter were too loud. They were up at the crack of dawn, which I wasn't digging. That's not necessarily the campgrounds fault, but had they followed their own rule, placed them in a bigger site, it wouldn't have been problem to those of us in the rv sites. The people on the the other side of them even packed up and went home a day early. The bathroom wasn't very clean and the showers were some of the nastiest that I've ever been to. At least they had hand soap though. There is a campground store, but it was pretty much empty because the camping season was ending. I'm quite sure this campground closed for the season, on November 1st.

With Big South Fork only miles away and Cumberland Falls just a little bit further this is the most optimal, affordable, and truly magnificent place to make the world go away.
