We had a great time. Definitely recommend this hike. It's marked easy but it does have quite a few steps & a couple inclines. I suggest going left to start to go down the steps towards the falls.

Saturday, March 15th, Tony and I found this waterfall by accident. When we were at the Bandy Creek Visitors Center the Park Ranger told us about Yahoo Falls and said you are only about an hour away.. the weather was nice so we thought WHY NOT..so we changed our route to loop over into Kentucky and see their largest (tallest) waterfall. It was very easy to find with our MAP APP on my android..they need more signage.. Once you get to the park area, there is a large brown sign that points you to the park for another 1.5 miles into the woods. There is plenty of picnic areas with grills, a bathroom and a gorgeous overlook. After hiking out to the falls, there is an overlook there and some gorgeous falls. There was children playing in the waterfall. It was very lovely out there, and it would be cool in the summer time.

This is one of the most beautiful hikes that I've been on in a long time. I went on a Thursday afternoon and I was literally the only person hiking this trail. It's so serene! The waterfall is pretty close to the start of the trail but keep going to the arch because it is out of this world!! Pictures definitely do not do it justice and you never know what kind of wildlife you'll see, I ran into a turkey vulture! This is a definite must hike for anyone, quite a hidden gem.

This the easy part - about quarter mile and a bunch of metal stairs

This is part of the Big Fork Wildress Area. If you follow KY 700 off of US27 you will come to Yahoo Falls Rd after about 3 miles through small developement and several turns. The last 1.5 miles are gravel, very good quality two places had "washboarding" but a low to ground car made it just fine. You park at restrooms at halfway part of picnic loop. Best part is this is free!!!! This is Kentucky's highest waterfall! The hike is about half a mile around trip, but does require a set of metal stairs (with hand rails) that number around one hundred. The falls includes a rock house (previously known as a cave behind and beside it). The falls are more of the vail vartiety, not a massive wide but thin. The hike offers several nice views along the way. There were rhododrenons starting to bloom and mountain laurel about peaking (both large shrubs) on path. The trail is blazed in green (on trees) watch your path as a couple of times you meet up with Sheltowee Trace (a couple of miles long blazed with turtle), it is not possible to get lost unless you stop following green blazes and signs. But wait there is more!! About .7 miles further mostly uphill you will find ane arch, well some day will be two. But now its an interestin arch with a rock house (cave) above is much bigger and beside. This is early Native American condo living at it best (ok maybe not historically accurate but this is yelp, not National Geographic pteople!). The extra walk is well worth effort, but bring your bug spray. The path is in the woods, it has bugs. I avoided mosquitos in Middle of May, but not gnats and a tick. A little DEET will take care of this problem

Yahoo Falls is the reward for a beautiful hike! The scenery, the surrounding beauty and the many vantage points make this one of our favorite hikes!

These towering trees make for stunning scenery along the hike.

REALLYYYY needs to be cleaned up, as in trim some tree limbs so you can actually see the Falls from the overlook.

Staff was friendly. We stayed in a cabin and they're alright. Some of the stuff inside is dated but seemed to be cleaned well enough for us and everything inside worked. The first visit we stayed during covid in December so it was just our group of 4 and one other couple staying in the resort. It was nice because it felt so private. We stayed in the resort rooms and we were surprised with how nice they are. Everything was clean. It was a bit small but we made it work. The second visit we stayed in their cabins and preferred it more. we got 2 bedrooms and each one had 2 beds so all of us slept comfortably. I loved that the cabin comes with a full kitchen and table so we spent our night playing board games. The park itself has so much to do. There are tons of hiking trails, horseback riding and even boat tours that take you up close to the waterfall. You have to go to the Moon bow at least once in your lifetime. It's when the moon hits the water at the right angle and you see a rainbow at night. It is a cool experience but it does get really crowded so you may want to come early. Cumberland Falls gave me unrealistic expectations for state parks because this what I feel like most state parks should be like.

Im a little afraid of heights, and we did the trail counter clockwise. Im glad because if I had seen the arches from below first, I might have been scared to walk across them. On top of the first arch, on a very windy day, my brain saw the trees moving near the edge and it gave me a feeling that the ground was moving! We also went to the top of the 2nd arch, and we're rewarded with gorgeous views for miles in all directions. The pit toilets were very clean, and dare I say pleasantly scented? However there was no water, so pack sanitizer and extra water. It was 90 degrees in March! The dirt road to the trailhead was a little busy, be careful on blind corners and keep an eye out for mules pulling wagons. Gold star if you pull over and let the dust settle before they pass you by. I hope the rest of the park is as awe inspiring as this. We plan to cone back for a longer stay so we see more.

The stairs are wooden, and so might be slippery when wet. The trail itself is pretty well marked and obvious even on the areas of bare rock. I didn't see any wildlife on my hike. The arches themselves are GORGEOUS. I don't think the photos do them justice. There's lots of nooks and crannies at the bases to explore too, almost cave-like at times. At the trailhead there's vault toilets (no running water-bring hand sanitizer!), a map of the trail, and picnic tables with warnings about not leaving food out as it attracts bears. Overall, this hike isn't too strenuous and the views are well worth it!
