The food was really excellent. We really liked the chicken curry and tandoori chicken! Probably the best Indian near RIT.

I have Celiac disease and Royal of India has always been fantastic about making food that I can eat…read moresafely. The food is also delicious! I've never ordered anything I don't like, and I generally don't order the same thing twice. Easily the best food in walking distance from RIT. Service is always excellent, ambiance is always great. I don't typically go for the buffets but the buffet prices are also fantastic, but dining by regular sit-down or take out isn't terribly expensive. I usually walk out with enough in a take out box to eat the next day. Try the onion pakoras and the kheer if you love yourself!

We went for the lunch Buffett. It was nice. It is a small buffet with basics. (I listed what we had…read moreat bottom of review.) For the price it's a great deal. (14.99 per person)Would be fantastic for lunch breaks and meetings. I chose a buffet because my BF had never eaten Indian food. I wanted him to try a little bit of anything. He thought it was good. He tried everything, but he wasn't overly impressed. He is also a huge meat and potatoes guy. I really didn't expect him to impressed. I just enjoyed seeing him try something new. I am from another area, that had amazing Indian food. The Indian Buffett, I am used to, is very large and the restaurant was always filled with Indian people, which is rare was because people from India, very rarely go out to eat their homeland food. I think it spoiled me. Because this was not even close. But also the price was half of what I would have paid. I was happy with it, to satisfy a craving. But I am going to try other Indian restaurants to compare. It's a great deal, and if you are unsure if you like Indian food, this is a good way to try a little bit of something, to see if the flavors are for you, without spending a lot of money. Makes me wonder if their dinner and weekend selections are different, hmmm! That thought literally just came to me. lol I did feel like it was more for vegetarians, and I highly recommend it for Vegetarians. Many of the foods were meat free. The rest were all chicken. The service was excellent. They were very nice, and it is owned by a small business was owner from Nepal. I love supporting our local immigrant businesses, as well as black owned businesses. I enjoyed it, and will go back. But this is my first Indian restaurant I've tried in Rochester, so I have no idea how it compares to the others in the area. I also might go back and order off the menu. I would have loved a biryani. Maybe some goat if on the menu. Also, I may have missed it, but I do not recall seeing anything sweet. India has some amazing sweet treats. The restaurant was lovely, its decorations were pretty and on point. I loved our table, we had a small table away from others and by the window. It gave it more of a lunch date vibe. We had fun. Our server was very nice, and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. It's a nice place and I recommend giving it a try. Chicken Tandoori drumsticks Butter chicken saffron rice Potatoes There was a spicy chicken too and a vegetarian saag. Naan

Putting in a couple appetizers, we opted in for the kibbeh, baba ghanouj, and manakeesh (za'atar w. cheese). The kibbeh was seasoned and fried perfectly. The baba ghanouj was creamy and accompanied with a very nice and airy pita bread, and the manakeesh was wonderful. It reminded me of a sauceless cheese pizza with the middle eastern spices. For mains, we opted in for the Mashawi which included a trio of meats. Kofta, beef kabob and chicken. All three meats were nicely seasoned, but the star meat for us was the kofta. The side of hummus was nice, and the salad was nicely seasoned even before pouring the dressing over it. Also opting in for the lamb chops, I found these to be perfectly grilled and incredibly tender. These were grilled closer to a medium-well, but still remained juicy and packed full of flavor. We found our server and the kitchen employee (perhaps the owner) to be pleasant and full of hospitality. This small-from-the-outside restaurant blew us away and we enjoyed everything we had. We look forward to returning in the near future to try other items on their menu.

I wasn't wanting to eat a whole platter of them, so I just stuck with the plate. After sitting down, they brought me a dolma, free of charge. That was unexpected and very thoughtful. The dolma was delicious! The kebabs seemed a bit dry but the flavor was great. I was under the impression it came with pita bread, but I never received any. No biggie, as I was not starving. All in all a good experience with good food. I will make one recommendation, there are 2 doors to get into the restaurant. The restaurant was clean, but in between the 2 doors, was pretty dirty with a lot of debris in the corner as you walk out. Definitely 4 stars, but cooked a little bit differently and the floor swept at the entrance, would have been 5 stars. Oh well, I'd go back though!

I ate here tonight and everything was genuinely delicious. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and asked for it spicy. It delivered ~ bold flavor, a nice kick, and a rich, creamy tomato sauce that tasted fresh and well balanced. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked and made the ideal base for soaking up every last bit of sauce. And I have to say it: the garlic naan might be the best I've ever had. The garlic wasn't just sprinkled on top, it felt like it was tucked into the folds of the bread, so every bite had that buttery, garlicky goodness. I kept dipping it into the tikka masala until the bowl was basically spotless. I also had hot chai, and it was outstanding. So good I ordered a second cup. What I ordered: * Chicken Tikka Masala ($19.99) ~ Boneless chicken cooked with onion, green peppers, tomato sauce, and cream * Plain Basmati Rice ($5.99) * Garlic Naan ($5.99) ~ Topped with garlic and cilantro Good to know: This restaurant is tucked in the back of the grocery store. When you walk in, you'll see a comfortable seating area up front with booths and tables. It's a great setup for a lunch meeting, a casual dinner, or a quick bite before heading home. I don't think many people realize there's a restaurant inside the grocery store, so consider this your friendly heads up. Buffet options (from their in store sign): * Lunch Buffet: $14.99 (Weekdays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) * Time: 11:00 am to 2:30 pm * All Day Buffet: $16.99 (Weekends: Friday, Saturday, Sunday) * Friday & Saturday: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm * Sunday: 11:00 am to 8:30 pm I'll definitely be back, and I'd love to see more people discover this spot. If you're near West Henrietta Road and you're craving something flavorful and comforting, go check out Namaste Indian Grill.
