Mulligatawny extra spicy. (This was one of the spiciest things I've had....and it was amazing!)

Covid-19 era review update. Indian Sizzler has been my Indian go-to for over 3 years. Even my dog gets excited to get a whiff of the spices (we don't actually feed her spicy food, cause that's nuts and not safe). The quality hasn't missed a beat in these crazy times. They are still rocking it. I also don't vary my order much so see my original post for details. They are all on all of the delivery service networks so if you need an Indian fix, look no more. Indian Sizzler is my tried and true go-to.

This is the last indian buffet I tried in my quest to conquer West Philly/UCity buffets, and I'm happy to have finally made it! They only have a dinner buffet, and it's the cheapest of them all. The location has good parking and you can't miss it on the corner. Walking inside, not many decorations but the buffet sits right in the middle of the wall. While veggie dishes are some of my favorite at indian restaurants, the meat dishes here were quite notable. The butter chicken was less cream based and more tomato based, with still a sweet and creamy feel to it. The mutter paneer was delicious, and no two flavors were the same. An eggplant based side was my favorite, as all the flavors came out and it was spicier than I think I've ever had at a buffet. Usually, places keep it simple and don't want to overpower it with flavor to please the masses, but Indian Sizzler did an awesome job of making everything the way I'd want it-- full and robust with quality meat and ingredients. For the price, location, and flavors, this place is probably my second favorite for indian buffet in the area. Call before to make sure they have the buffet! And fresh naan! So perfect

doesn't look like much when you pass down Lancaster Ave, but I was driving home & craving Indian food so I decided to pop in. We got veggie samosas, tomato soup, yakhni soup, butter naan, palak paneer, & chicken curry. both entrees (palak paneer & chicken curry) come with a side of rice. everything was great and well seasoned. Mango lassi was a 10/10. very sweet older man was our server. they were busy with take out orders, and i could tell he was happy to see people dine in. support your local, small businesses! especially during this holiday season.

Nice welcome view.

Have ordered take out multiple times from here via Yelp. Always early or on time. Accurate food orders so far and pleasant staff. Would recommend Palak Paneer, Chicken Saag and any Naan. Found this next door to Chengdu and glad I did. Convenient to Presby and UCity Science areas.

Goat curry and naan.

Amazing food, I ordered the goat curry and garlic naan and it was delicious. The portion sizes were fairly large and I ended up having more food than I could eat. The server was a very kind old man who was working all the tables so be patient. The restaurant was hot but worth it for the food.

This restaurant I has some good and bad food. However, the two stars are due to the total lack of interest and responsiveness by the servers to bad food. I ordered the special which was a pompano curry. I received a tiny whole fish filled with bones and little fish. It was impossible to pick out the meat without undue amount of bones. I mentioned this to two servers who replied "thank you" and basically walked away. So I had curry sauce and bread for dinner. The lack of responsiveness and transparency will prevent me from returning Ong. As they demonstrated during my service, they don't care. Sadly good potential but off my list

First time here. Ordered the Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Tikka Marsala, Rice & Naan. Everything was delicious. Will be back.

Small buffet and decent food! Buffet is usually $11.99 but I caught it on special for only $7.50 the night that I went. My favorite dish was the tandoori chicken and their samosas are exceptionally good. The man who waited us was very kind.

The lunch buffet was pretty slow around 1:30, but all the food was still out and warm. The chicken biryani was my favorite, but the lamb saag dal was also delicious and the samosas. The food was well-seasoned and a little spicy which is just how I like it! The naan was just ok and so was the chicken tikka masala. I've had better Indian food but this was still pretty good. They also make their own mango soft serve in house which tasted delicious. They offer student discounts as well. We found parking in a lot right beside the building. The staff was friendly and patient with my questions. I appreciated that they had spice levels since we had a mix of people wanting their food mild and spicy. The buffet looked appealing and the seating areas were clean. The inside was nice and pretty big. I imagine they are packed during busier times. We were taking our order to go, but the buffet looks like a good time. We ordered Veggie Samosas, Paneer Makhni - cheese cubes cooked in a tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free], mild and spicy Butter Chicken (Makhni) tender pieces of chicken tandoori cooked in a fresh tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free] and Chicken Tandoori half chicken marinated in yogurt and herbs, then barbecued [gluten-free]. Some plain naan and for dessert Gulab Jamun home-made milk-balls dipped in honey syrup. I really enjoyed the flavors of the spicy Chicken Makhni. The meat was tender and the tomato sauce had a range of spices that made it hard to say when! The chicken tandoori had nice flavors too, but the meat was a tad dry. The Paneer was good, but the star of the show was the Chicken Makhni. Throw some rice and mint chutney in with the chicken makhni and naan .... Happiness .... I would love to return to try a Biryani. The Gulab Jamun was a miss. It lacked the syrup flavor I'm used to. The pricing was around $33 per person for what we ordered. There were leftovers. I would recommend ordering ahead as the wait time was a bit long. Everyone was stuffed and happy that we tried New Delhi. I'd repeat more often if I lived in the area.

As someone who doesn't typically gravitate toward Indian cuisine, I've been genuinely impressed with how approachable and satisfying their menu is. Their saag paneer, in particular, is a standout--perfectly creamy, flavorful, and never overpowering with spice. One of the biggest wins for me is that Ekta's food is flavorful without being too spicy, which is a rare and much-appreciated balance, especially for a self-proclaimed spice wimp like myself. Even better, my six-year-old--who usually finds something to complain about with every delivery meal--actually requests their dal makhani. That alone is enough to keep Ekta on our regular rotation. My wife has her own go-to order: garlic naan, samosas, and chicken tikka masala. She's consistently happy with everything, and it's clear the kitchen puts care into each item. Everything arrives hot, fresh, and packed with care. It's hard to find reliable takeout that pleases our whole family, but Ekta has managed to hit the mark every single time.

I didn't end up finishing my food, but both my partner, and I had terrible nausea, vomiting, stomach ache after eating the curry. The chicken was also extremely dry, tasted, sour again, and it was so nontender. I do not think I will be ordering from this location again. Order at your own risk!!

Upon entering, no one acknowledged us to be seated. We had to ask two staff members where to sit. Once seated, the table was cleaned upon some delay with a rag that had a distinct smell that lingered throughout the meal. It took 55 minutes for our meal to arrive. I was able to see on their social media that they cooked the kabobs and karahi fresh. That being said, there should be communication with the guests if it will take that long. It could have been a coincidence but our food came out 5 minutes after we checked in to see what the status of our order is. If you also notice that your guests are not satisfied with the wait time, perhaps offer complimentary appetizers. We ordered the family platter but were not given any utensils too pick up the food with...we ended up using our hands as we already had a laundry list of things to ask for like napkins, an extra plate, more chutney (which we requested during our order). Resham kabob - basically the same kabob, the same salad, the same naan from the family platter. I could have constructed it myself at the fraction of the cost. The sandwich rolls do not come with fries or anything which I think isn't appropriate for the price they are charging. It was also confusing where to order as the place to order for Kabobeesh is in the back of the restaurant. The Karak Chai counter is being used too which is great but further confuses guests. The food seemed like it was coming out of different exits. There are no physical menus at this time, guests have to get up and read the kiosks. The menu online is also very confusing as there is overlap with the pizza location items. Always wanting the nashtaa but never knowing when the cut off time is for ordering it! Adding an extra star than I'd like because there is a prayer room which is wonderful to see. :) The chicken karahi was good per usual but left disappointed otherwise!

It's about $45, which is a bit pricey for a screw top type wine, but it tasted great, so no issues here. ANYWAY. You're seated in a massive dining room with beautiful furniture, and understated, modern clean lines. There's so many thoughtful touches. The water they give you when you sit down is filtered water. The cutlery is large and generous. The dining tables are set with beautiful stoneware in light colours to complement the food. There was a quiet elegance anywhere you look. We got the murungai (moringa) leaf vada. Vada were crisp on the outside and steamy and varied in texture on the inside. Moringa leaves were bright green. Lots of delicious spices coming up from it. They were presented on a small bed of coconut chatni (which is the traditional accompaniment to vada), and topped with a vividly green fried curry leaf. Why am I mentioning how bright green the moringa leaves and curry leaves are? Because that shows how fresh they are. The banana leaf that it was all perched on wasn't brown on the edges. It was also fresh. These guys had been fried and pulled right out of the oil to come to our table with impeccable presentation. My dining companion got a chicken dish, and I got a vegan onion masala dosa. The cost of the dosa is around double what I'd pay in a hole in the wall dosa shop, but the chicken dish is around what I'd expect to pay at a restaurant. That said, the dosa was one of those massive ones that you'd get at a dosa shop, but cooked to perfection. It was neatly folded into a triangle shape so it fits onto the plate. Coconut, tomato, and peanut chatni is served on the side. Sambhar is also on the side. Chatnis are perfectly made. Sambhar is delicious, with clearly freshly ground spices. Service was prompt, efficient, and extremely friendly. It's the sort of warm welcome you'd get in a South Indian home. People make sure that you're comfortably seated. The make sure that your water glass doesn't sit empty. They notice if you drop a fork or knife by accident, and arrive with a fresh one (because the cutlery is SERIOUS business, and makes a big sound when it drops on the ground). More than that, wait staff are knowledgeable about the food and drinks, and will make suggestions either to you if you're unsure, or to the kitchen to adjust the spice level for your needs. They see to it that you're loving all your food and having a fun time. Genuinely, the meal was pricey, but we had an extremely delicious meal that filled up our stomachs and souls with comfort. We had to waddle back to the hotel afterwards. Yes, you're going to spend a good chunk of change when you're there. However, if you need a place to have a dinner for special occasions, this is the place to go. This is not the typical Indian restaurant with food sat under a heat lamp, drying out the whole time. This isn't a bunch of strong smells lingering the dining room, or coming out of the kitchen. The place is kept spotlessly clean, so that any aromas you're getting are only from the food in front of you. This is Indian food elevated, and given the respect that it deserves. It's how Indian food should be enjoyed: with a reverence for the ingredients, and attention to detail. That said, our appetiser, 2 mains, a bottle of wine, and tax and 20% tip came to like $180 give or take. For the experience we had, I'd say that the money was good value.
