Her…read moreteachers [Ms. Katie and Ms. Kayla at the time] were everything we were looking for for her first time in a school environment. They were loving and caring, while also setting clear rules and boundaries for the kids to follow. Our daughter is one of the youngest in the class and we weren't sure if we would hold her back another year, but she learned SO much with their curriculum and was ready for kindergarten on time. She's still thriving in school, and I fully credit Tender Years for starting her off on the right path. As a first time mom, and our first experience with a school, my husband and I knew from the first tour Tender Years was going to be the best place for all of us. Our feelings were confirmed everyday. Mary Beth and Cathy made us feel like we were an extension of their family more than parents of a student. We were genuinely heartbroken on her last day, and still send her for alumni movie nights when possible! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We gave 25 days' notice to leave due to the situation, and they still seized our full security deposit without justification. Unreliable and outdated--would not recommend Edit: Now they're also lying in their response. I emailed requesting the refund they claim they would issue--no reply. It's been over a month, and we still haven't received anything. They could've easily handed us a check on our child's last day, but instead they chose silence. They cite CDC and NJ state guidelines, which is fine--but the issue is their inability to recognize or interpret symptoms correctly. That's where the real problem lies. They've been unreliable, outdated, and now dishonest. Sometimes it's better not to reply to a review when you know you're in the wrong, rather than confirming every doubt someone might have. Completely unprofessional and a place to avoid.

Communication with ownership was often difficult and, at times, felt defensive or dismissive. As a…read moreparent, feeling heard and supported is important, especially when entrusting someone with your child. Attempts to meet in person to discuss my child's transition out of the daycare (with two months' notice given which I have copies of via email) were declined, and communication became passive-aggressive over email. While concerns I raised were ultimately addressed, the interactions left me feeling uncomfortable rather than reassured. My son came home with other children's' diapers and clothes on many occasions. There was so much disorganization. The owner monitors the comments of parents on private Facebook groups and is retaliatory towards them when they post anything critical. You will see this on their responses to critical reviews online as well. She sent out weekly emails reprimanding all parents for the actions of a few. I paid for an extra hour of care each day and came on time, often earlier than I needed to, but I still received these emails reprimanding everyone in the class. There was noticeable staff turnover, including two directors within one year. One departing director communicated to parents via email that the work environment was challenging, which understandably raised concerns among families. Some teachers appeared inexperienced and were frequently on their phones during pickup times, often requiring me to get their attention. While the teachers were kind to my child and did a good job teaching him, this was concerning. Information shared in the app was occasionally inaccurate (for example, meals reported as fully eaten when food was returned mostly untouched). The daycare itself is very small and lacks enough of a large open play space which is concerning, especially in the winter time. Parents were not allowed to enter classrooms to drop off or pick up their children. A friend of mine in town shared with me that her twin girls were coming home with bite marks on them and the owner denied that anyone was biting them and refused to allow them to look at the camera to see what happened. The communication style and leadership environment significantly impacted our comfort level as parents and ultimately led to our decision to leave. I am sharing this review to provide honest, respectful feedback based on our experience. I have noticed that some critical reviews appear to have been removed in the past. My intention is not to discourage others, but to offer transparency and encourage continued improvement.

Our family was very disappointed with our experience at CAP. My child attended for just 5 months…read moreand during that time we discovered many issues with the school. 1. My child had a medical emergency while at the school and it was unclear how it was actually handled. We received different accounts from the director, area manager, the staff member who accompanied my child to the hospital, and the EMT's who responded to the event. When I asked to see the footage from the time period of the medical emergency I was denied the request. 2. Classes are often combined in the morning or after 4pm, even during disease outbreaks in those respective rooms. Many times I would pick up my child and my child would be in the room where there is a known presence of Croup or Hand Foot Mouth playing with the children from that room. This, to me, demonstrated a lack of genuine care for the well being of the children. 4. My child's teacher recorded and posted a video on the app of another child pushing and kicking my child. My child was kicked 4 or more times and there was no intervention by the teacher. When I addressed this with the director I was simply told this was normal behavior for the age group and if the teacher had deemed to to be excessive she would have addressed it. 5.While regular handwashing is talked about quite a bit during the tour, it was not happening. Many times I picked up my child either right after playtime/before a snack or meal time or during a diaper change and the children were never made to wash their hands. I addressed this observation once with the director and noticed no improvements. 6. My child came home twice with scratches on her body that the staff could never explain. One scratch spanned across her back. 7. My child came home many times with diaper rash, despite us providing 40% zinc oxide diaper cream. On one occasion, I picked my child up and was told that all 3 of the kids left in the room had diaper rash. I don't think it is a coincidence that the last 3 kids left in the room that day all had diaper rash.

I love that everyone knows all the kids' names regardless of the room. Throughout the day, we are kept informed of everything they do from diaper changes, to food, to naps, to activities. I love getting pictures and videos during the day, and being able to watch a live camera anytime I want (not that I need to, but it's fun to watch sometimes). They keep the children engaged all day. It's truly amazing. The teachers are all very nurturing and hands on. The facility is always clean and bright, with a great outdoor space in the back, which is perfect for water play in the summer. I would highly recommend Tutor Time to anyone. I am confident my children are safe and in a great learning environment. And, in the wake of Covid they have taken extreme caution to keep all the children and staff safe. Plus, there are some great perks...they are very flexible with scheduling, and have reasonable pricing, which includes diapers, wipes, crib sheets and food, and a discounted price for weeks you don't attend due to vacation or illness. I couldn't imagine my kids going anywhere else, and both my boys love going. They literally start happy screams and kicks when I pull into the lot each morning. It's a great feeling not having to worry all day.
