I'll start by saying that I was a resident of the Sault when this restaurant first came around, and was the biggest fan. There are literally dozens of people from the Sault that will talk about the egg drop soup from afar, at gathering, etc. Now....to modern times and the last time I ate there (mid-August) while visiting. Prices have definitely gone up to the point where they are "big city" in nature, which is perhaps a characteristic of the times. Thai dishes here are all great, high quality - none that I wouldn't recommend at all. Spiced appropriately as well. Chinese dishes left a lot to be desired - my friend ordered a lo mein and it was really doused in soy sauce with just a super-salty flavor that wouldn't pass in another place in the world (we had already taken it home).... Egg drop soup remains one of the most unique I've ever had anywhere. Didn't eat inside, but the interior hasn't changed in 20+ years, not a problem. Credit card machine was having network issues for several people including me, but it looks like the charges went through. Go here instead of the dank buffet down the street, just order the thai dishes when you do! read more

What a lovely place to go! We were starving after being on the water all day from the tournament and walked here from our hotel, immediately were seated even though they were short staffed, the service was wonderful we were welcomed with soup, hot tea, and water which were all lovely, were served well. Ordered sample platter and everything was incredible and it came out quickly. The rest of the food was delicious and came shortly after. My absolutely favorite restaurant ever!! I could eat Thai Spicy Szechuan every day of my life. Huge portions, so my leftovers make an entire meal for later. They are heavy handed on the hot peppers, so caution if you order it hot/spicy. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Not really a three from me but the "new" waitress deserves a four or more so she leverages up the score. Chinese, Thai, and Korean options on offer. That's pretty ambitious. Free tea. Didn't see chop sticks out but I'm sure I could have asked. Hot and Sour was so terribly salty with a hint of steel; and the egg rolls were bleh meh well over done very crispy bits though I did like the sweet and sour and hot mustard sauces. Veggie Massaman was mnm though the heat level was right where I wanted it. I just don't like it when you order veggie anything and they don't give you any extra veggies. Scant mushrooms, some shoots, part of an onion ...you get the idea. No peppers or onions or carrot. Sometimes you'll see some baby corns or broccoli but no. No scallion or peanut decorations either. Pretty plane Jane. Same for the fried rice. Was just rice. No carrot or onion or scallions or egg or pork or or or. Horrible dinner and the service was worse. I am a regular customer, dining out here about once a week. The food is normally good to excellent. After tonight's experience, I doubt I shall return. I ordered the Pepper Steak, my son ordered sesame chicken, we shared some crab-wontons. My son's food and the crab wontons were very good. My dinner was a far different experience. My pepper steak was like something ordered from a $5 all you can eat Chinese buffet that sat out on the counter for a few days and was then microwaved and served, instead of being thrown in the garbage where it belonged. The sauce was old, over cooked, and congealed. It had begun to form a fatty, gelatin mass. The vegetables had been reduced to mush. And the beef was just lifeless, limp protein better suited to be served to convicted war criminals. And this is where the experience takes a dark turn. The server NEVER returned to check on us and to see if the food was acceptable. I had placed my dish on the very edge of the table. I tried catching her attention. I tried signaling. At this point about 15 minutes had passed, and my son had finished eating. Prior to this point, I would have merely asked for a different dish. But when I had to carry up my dish to the front counter and set my food down to get some help, I just wanted a refund. I communicated that to another server. There was no apology on behalf of the staff. Instead, they dropped off my check for the full price of what we had ordered. At this point, there was a small crowd at the register. I competent server would have merely apologized and taken the dish off of my check. Instead, she was surprised that I didn't wish to pay for the dish, just because I didn't like it. I was forced to explain to her, in detail, and with an audience exactly what I have communicated here. My bill was reduced. If I was the owner, I would be firing people. Decent Chinese food. Small portions and overpriced but it's tasty. I enjoy the beef and vegetables and the sizzling rice soup.

Considering the prices are higher here than in a major city, you'd expect the food to be really good. Unfortunately it's not any better than Asian Buffet, but double the price. Not impressed. "Hot" tea was barely warm. Egg rolls had pork that appeared undercooked. Both dishes we ordered had pieces of bone in it. Once we got our food the only time the waiter came over was to drop off the check shortly after we got our food. We ended up leaving most of our entrees and going elsewhere. Will not be back. This place was a huge letdown. First, the crab wonton did not have the right consistency and the wrapper they used was too large. The chicken broccoli had tons of brown sauce on it and the chicken tasted off. I'm not sure if it was old chicken or if it had been sitting in a sauce for several days, but it didn't taste right. The brown sauce needs more flavor. The steamed rice wasn't the traditional Chinese rice, which was very disappointing. The broccoli was fine and the egg roll was okay, but lacked flavor. I tried a bit of the Pad Thai chicken and that was better than the chicken broccoli, but it was coated in a dark brown sauce that really did not taste great. read more

I love this place. Personally, I think they have the most flavorful food and their crab wantons are so good!

Had a great dinner here. The General Tso chicken was absolutely delicious. Also unlike many places I have been they serve hot tea complementary which I loved and left a better tip than normal for the fabulous waitress. The food came quick and with a smile. I had my reservations about this place, I wasn't sure what to expect or how authentic the food would be. The name of the restaurant made me think it would be a Chinese restaurant that also served Indonesian food? But my wife checked the menu online and they not only serve Chinese but Thai dishes as well. So we came here passing through during our vacation and we were hungry. We ordered the Green Curry with Tofu, Pad See U with tofu, and the General Tso's Tofu (without fish sauce and without MSG) They accommodated for our vegan preferences which always gives us peace of mind. The portions were generous and I felt matched the price which was another plus! They forgot the tofu in the Green Curry, but it was delicious...(I don't know what it was, but I think it was a combo of the different types of vegetables and the flavors in the sauce or curry itself that was amazing!) and when we told the waiter that there wasn't any tofu in our curry, he brought curried tofu on the side. The Pad See U we enjoyed as well, but the General Tso's tofu was unexpectedly good too! It was the right texture on the outside and so soft and good on the inside. We asked for more rice and they provided it for us with no charge. We asked for boxes after our meal and the waiter/owner gave us extra rice to take home with no charge! (Little did he know how grateful we were for that rice as we headed home the next day after staying at a motel that did not provide breakfast) The service was great, the food was so good that my wife even said she would love to move to Sault Saint Marie despite the frigid cold in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan just to be able to frequent this restaurant. It was that good, y'all...and I agree with her. Next time we're in the area, we are definitely gonna hit this place up again! read more

We stopped in here on our way through town. Yelp gave it the best reviews, and we were not disappointed. I had the pad see u and it was fantastic, really good tofu add. We both started with the egg drop soup, which was also very tasty. Mmmm. The staff were very friendly and service was quick and accurate. The restaurant was very clean, tidy, and comfortable. The menu offered a variety of items, including Chinese and Thai cuisines. A lot of great vegetarian dishes. :-) I'm glad we stopped here. Recommended! read more

Mmmmm! Love at first bite. Such a cozy atmosphere. We were promptly greeted and asked if we preferred a booth or table. Yet another gem of a restaurant thanks to Yelp. We munched on lettuce wraps for an appetizer and drank the hot tea. The food was pretty good too. We both cleaned our plates. Loved our waitress too. Once and a while Yelp will let me down. This is one of those times. I have no clue why people love this place so much as its anything but authentic cuisine. We ordered the chicken satay and the chicken was fine but the reason I love satay is because of the peanut sauce. Emphasis on that its a PEANUT based sauce. It came out and it was this thick black sauce completely void of any peanuts whatsoever. My husband got the fried duck and I got the beef bulgogi and both of us hardly ate any of it leaving a majority on our plates. Just wasn't anything to write home about and we paid a hefty bill The only redeeming thing was the egg drop soup which is indeed very pleasant and a nice palate cleanse. Stopped in by suggestion from the lady at super 8. She said the food was great. We pulled into the parking lot but saw only one other car. Did a look up for this place on Yelp and the reviews were good so we gave it a try. The wife had the almond boneless chicken and I had gung pa, I think that's how to spell it. With just a short wait and some great egg drop soup we ate our meal. The food IS great as the other reviews stated. Adam, our waiter and on his fourth day of working here, is great, very friendly and attentive and proficient. After we came in it was like the bus just let out, 9 other couples and 12 take out orders came in and Adam handled it like he had been working here for a while. Indo-China Garden will forever be my favorite thai place. Growing up in the Soo I came here all the time and had never really had any other [good] thai food until I was in college. But this still ranks high among them. I usually get the Lad-na or Pad-see-u (sp? forgive me) or the sesame chicken. I haven't really had much else other than those things because they are just that good. I can never get myself to order anything else. I may get an egg roll, pot stickers, or crab wontons to go along with it but my main course usually stays the same. Their egg drop soup is the best egg drop soup I have ever had. The service is impeccable and extremely fast. I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than ten minutes to get my food. It comes out steaming hot and fresh. Just a great place to go. I would recommend it to anyone visiting or new in the area. read more

The amazing thing about this place is that people actually go here. Food is BAD. Mongolian beef was fowl but dogs were okay with it(took out the scallions for them). The fried rice was actually brown rice. The egg rolls were not bad but cost $2 a piece and are smaller than most egg rolls. The noodles and low mein were stale. Why does a restaurant serve bad food? I used to have low expectations on American Chinese food so even the food tastes below average I might still accept it. I ordered the sesame chicken today but the chicken was over-fried and basically wrapped 80% flour. So what I had are the over-fried sesame flour nuggets. I hope they could improve their food quality after reading this review but I won't recommend this restaurant. read more

Service was bad and the Thai food was not authentic. The Thai dishes of Panang and Drunken Noodles don't taste authentic like I expect from a Thai restaurant. They don't even come close to what they SHOULD taste like but were ok for Chinese. The Panang had eggplant, was watered down, weak in flavor and didn't have much coconut milk. The Drunken Noodles were bland, lacking spice. The broth for the wonton soup was thin and the wontons didn't have any meat in them. They only had the wonton wrappers. Never had that before. The egg drop soup broth was also thin and lacking flavor. It is good that the Egg Drop soup comes complimentary with the meal as I would not pay for that. The kow pad curry rice was similar in taste to a pineapple fried rice but it needed more pineapple. This entree was pretty good. The service was severely lacking as it took a long time for the server to take our order. Then it took a long time to get the soup. I requested crispy noodles and Siracha for the soup but finished the soup before getting either. The server liked to spend most of her time in the kitchen, maybe eating her lunch. Hot tea is complementary. This restaurant is NOT recommended for authentic Thai food. read more

I do not understand all the 4 and 5 star ratings about this restaurant. It seems to me that peolpe have been paid for that. The food was terrible. The soup taste like water, the egg roll taste like fish, but there is no fish inside. The sauce for the egg roll was not self made. You will get steamed rice, brown rice or fried rice, but whatever you choose is tasteless rice. The taste should then come with sauce and ingredients. But you will get canned or frozen vegetables. Nothing is fresh... The meat is hard and it is for sure the cheapest meat you can buy. Walmart is not far away ;-) I ordered extra hot but I did not get hot at all. I ordered chop sticks - three times - before I get them. My food cooled down during waiting. Absolutely no recommendation. read more
