Hearty Breakfast

The food is always spot on & the service couldn't be more friendly. Family atmosphere welcoming to all.

Bacon (4 slices but I ate one)

We came here to check out a local business, especially given their more affordable pricing. The place was older, a bit run down inside, and had real vibes that this was a spot for older folks and the church crowd. Our server was a younger guy who was very nice and was the saving grace of this experience. He told us to sit anywhere, and after a few moments I went to get our menus. He came over and told us about the buffet, which my man opted to try with a cup of coffee. I passed after seeing that the fruit in the fresh fruit bowl was bad quality, and ordered the biscuits and gravy with a chocolate milk and an order of bacon. When I got the chocolate milk, it was COVERED in whip cream and sprinkles for some reason. I removed it as I cannot have whipped cream, and he apologized and offered to bring me a new one and joked lightheartedly that his woman always tells him he overdoes it with the whip. It was very sweet for him to correct and resolved my issue. We proceeded to not see him for awhile after this interaction. My man got his food first and tried everything, expressing it was "one step above a continental breakfast at a hotel". When my food came out, I agreed with him entirely as the bacon was okay but the B&G was borderline inedible as the worst gravy I've ever tasted. Everything I got was hot, but it's clear that every single item we had was premade elsewhere and likely came in frozen- nothing done in house. I asked the hostess when she cleared our table if I could have the B&G removed, and she checked with the manager who gave me a hard time about it even though the hostess confirmed I barely took two bites (as shown in the photo). Our server then came over to our table once I sat down and ensured me he would remove it and even took off the bacon for me too, although I would have happily paid for what I ate. He got over 20% on his tip for his eagerness to help make things right and his friendly demeanor, and I couldn't have been happier with his service. I just wish the food was better to any degree, it was some of the worst and driest food we've had in a long time unfortunately. Will not be coming back here despite how affordable the prices are.

It is a small town family dinner. No frills, nothing fancy. I had a skillet which, for me, had way too much cheese and was a bit bland. Service was a touch slow. The receipt says "if you leave hungry that's your fault" and I agree. The portions are rather large.

I don't know if Frank's Place has gotten better or I am just ordering the right stuff now, but it was (is) outstanding. I got their loaded. I got the loaded skillet with eggs over easy on top and lived it. It was hot, cooked right, really tasty, and there was enough to keep me going for a while. Orange juice and coffee were very good as well. Service was outstanding- fast, efficient, and friendly. This is my go-to for breakfast in the Soo. I parked on the street without any trouble so I don't know if they have any off-street parking.

Great breakfast! Crispy hash browns and not quite crispy bacon!!

This place is kind of a mess but not so bad that it's unhealthy: tables get cleared pretty quick to make room for new money but the crumbs could maybe get swept up more frequently. Lunch buffet is short on distance but loaded up with victuals except I wasn't looking for chickens or pizzas or pastas. Thought I asked for country fried steak and eggs for lunch and instead I got 3 eggs up and crispy hash browns and not quite crunchy bacon and sausage and ham and sourdough toast for breakfast. Figured it wasn't worth the headache or wait to send it back and the cook probably would've touched it or something. Anyway, it looked pretty good and had a bunch of eggs so I just went with it (and a guy at work said it was a "Country Breakfast" which sounds a little like "Country Fried Steak" if you squint your ears.) It was really good for not exactly what I thought I wanted.

Frank's Place has been around for years! They have a breakfast buffet every weekend that is decent or you can order from the menu which is what I prefer. I've gotten the country breakfast since I was a kid and it has not changed. Yum!

Stopped in late March for something to eat after a day at the Locks. It appeared relatively empty…read morebut it's a good sized place so it's a bit deceiving to see how many people are there. The lighting is good and the overall atmosphere was chill. Music played in the background and didn't interfere with conversation. 20 beers on tap. A huge bar. A pool table. All kinds of fun to be had! So, let's talk food. A simple front and back menu loaded with goodies. Two different Rueben appetizers speak to the passion of an Irish Pub. It's in the Sault, however, and the fish is the real steal of the show. I judge that everything on this menu is made with care and comes out delicious. The perch are deep fried, light and tender. Their "famous" questo tastes a lot like grandma's rotel and is absolutely delicious. Beers, Bloody Mary's, Fish, Irish fare, burgers, quality service, and plenty of seating make this place a worthy stop for nearly every audience. Come on in and you won't be disappointed. (the prices are too low to mention, imo)

Things were very clean and orderly - even the restrooms. The booths were spacious comfortable. The menu is fairly large and prices are decent. The team here is very friendly and hustles. There was not enough waitress scheduled to handle the post locks crowd. They were spread very thin. The food coming out of the kitchen was very slow as well. We were seated by the window where the food comes out. I was shocked at how long many items sat waiting on a waitress and that there was no heat lamp to help keep food warm. Our sweet potato fries came out cold. The fried pickles were okay. The dill chip was moderately thick with a heavy breading. The chip was touch and couldn't be bit into. The breading was nice and firm and a bit oily. The Cole slaw was pretty good - finely cut cabbage pieces with a thin mayo-vinegar taste. The onion rings were also good. Some rings had a thicker piece of onion. The batter was thick and a bit greasy. The garlic Parmesan wings were okay. The basket consisted of 8 small wings. The wings were battered and fried. The insides were a solid white and fairly moist. The batter was bit crunchy which was nice. The garlic Parmesan sauce didn't really have much garlic or Parmesan taste. It seemed to be a heavy buttery flavor with maybe some seasoning.

We ordered a couple of adult beverages and while waiting for our lunches, kicked back to enjoy the signs and Knick-knacks. I love learning trivia, and now I know what a goat locker is :-) My hub got the BBQ burger, which came with crispy fries. He said it was delicious. I got the pasty with brown gravy, and it was ginormous! Eating it took me back to childhood...my mom's pasties were almost just like this (hers were a little heavier on the rutabaga, so they were always soggy). It came with a side of coleslaw, so that makes it healthy, right?! Very reasonably-priced meal, especially considering the remote location. Hope we get a chance to come back someday.
