My friend and I tried every Indian place here in North Bay until we finally landed on this place and wow. First of all we had been craving some extra spicy Indian food, but none of the places were able to deliver one place served us the sweetest butter chicken we've ever had in our lives! Not here no, we asked for it to be extra spicy just because of our previous experience with the other Indian places and oh man this is IT! The pakora and Bhajia are to die for. After a big let down in Timmins (my go-to Indian restaurant closed down) I found myself on a mission to find some decent Indian cuisine in Northern Ontario. My next stop on my 2 week business trip was North Bay, ON and that's where I came across Indra's reviews here on Yelp. And the reviews were all quite positive so I figured I'd try them out for dinner. They only opened at 4pm so having skipped lunch, I parked outside and waited like the typical food stalker. Service was friendly, expect to wait a little (20-30mins) but I would say it's worth it in the end. The guy who took my order seemed like it was his first day (may have been) but the owner was there to back him up. (very pleasant lady) I ordered some VEGETABLE SAMOSAS @ $8.95, along with PLAIN NAAN for $3.95 and my main dish, CHICKEN KORMA @ $12.95. Hidden along a dark end of Main Street, this is a take-out Indian food place. You walk in and there are a few tables and some comfy couches to chill on, as you watch Bollywood music videos. The service is great, courteous and friendly, both in person and over the phone. I ordered the aloo gobi on a Saturday night because they sold out of bharta (eggplant). The cauliflower was a bit overcooked and overall it was just a tad TOO greasy. The taste was fantastic and the dahl mahkni was pretty good too! For three items, I paid approximately $29. Recently been placing orders for pick up, once I give my name they suddenly tell me a certain item is sold out. Last time I ordered, same thing happened. After I paid for my order, the owner tells me, in front of other customers who are waiting to pick up, that I am no longer able to order a certain dish because my friend left a bad review about it. I was shocked, embarrassed and a bit creeped out /feeling stalked. If someone leaves a bad review, there are better more mature ways to fix it (ie could have asked me to talk to my friend to see what they could do to have them change it??). I guess this is one of the reasons they get bad reviews! read more

A surprising find! As good as Toronto Indian food, which itself is excellent. The owner emigrated from England, so the style of food was slight different from many. Nice vegetarian selection. Although the menu says take away only, we were allowed to sit in a rather swank lounge (for North Bay) for our meal. The service was very attentive. The portions were large, and level of heat is to your preference. We would definitely go back. read more

First night eating out in North Bay after moving here from Halifax, and I don't think I need to look for another restaurant. The food was excellent - butter chicken, tarka dal and vegetable paneer .
