I've had wonderful experiences here, and my most recent visit was with Master Esthetician Rochell, who did an exceptional job. She gave me one of the best bikini waxes I've ever had--professional, thorough, and beautifully done. Start on time (The therapist was late). Clean the steam table and cover with a sheet. (The therapist removed the sheet while I was under the steam tent. After the service, when I got up to get dressed, I realized I was lying on a stained table/cover the entire time!) I have been here several times in the past. I will never go back again. The more I think about it it, the more disgusted I am. The owners response says it all. No one is wants to pay full price to lay on brown stained sheets. Be thankful I didn't post pictures. I could have said something directly before I left AND as the owner and being present for the experience, you could have too. This should have been a relaxing experience. I did my best to keep my peace... as that was the point of the service. It was everything but. Give a reason to post a positive review. This experience did not warrant one. Do better for those "better citizens" you hope to continue to serve. To the community: check each layer of sheets before you lay down. I pretty much never leave a review but with how much my neck has been hurting after my massage I feel like I should. First of all, I want to clarify that their regular massages, for non-pregnant people, might be perfectly fine. My main issue is that they do not have the special pregnancy pillows for pregnant people to be able to lay face down for a massage, which means you have to lie down on your side and switch halfway through. This meant that after my left side was massaged, I then had to lie down on my left side to get my right side massaged, and this wound up really hurting my neck. Also, the lady who massaged me was sitting for most of the massage. Hopefully this is just a temporary thing - I totally get she has a physically demanding job and could have something going on where she needed to sit - but it did seem to make it difficult for her to use enough pressure during my massage. I asked for more pressure about 5 times. Each time the additional pressure would last about 5-10 minutes, and I would guess the reason is because if you're sitting you can't use your body weight to help you apply pressure, it's all muscle and that would certainly be exhausting. The technique itself was fine, no particular complaints there - some things felt great and others just okay, but I would ultimately go back and try this place again if it wasn't for the pregnancy pillow issue. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, no issues there. Might be a great place for regular massages after my pregnancy. One pet peeve though: they advertise their life coaching as "talk therapy", which I find very unethical. I'm a psychologist, meaning I spent the last 8 years of my life learning to provide psychotherapy, doing research, passing exams, getting licensed, certified, etc., so that I can provide talk therapy ethically and with a solid evidence-base for what I'm doing. To see someone call what they're doing, in an industry that's as of yet completely unregulated and has no standards for ethical practice, "talk therapy," is dangerous and unethical. I appreciate that at least they clarify what they mean by life coaching when you click on the "talk therapy" service and their definition seems fine, but could still be very deceiving for someone who needs actual therapy. I highly recommend they change it to life coaching - it's a popular industry anyway, so I don't get the need to seem like what they're providing is therapy. read more

I've been there twice for lymphatic drainage massages and coming from a person who has stayed cleared of massages, this place has made me change my entire mind! The owner is simply amazing. I had my first ever massage with Venise, and it was amazing!! She didn't miss a spot, massaged from head to toe, and I could tell she was really paying attention to where my tension was because she didn't do the same thing on both sides. The pressure was perfect, and the atmosphere was calm and comfortable. Her energy was so calming and healing it was overall a really peaceful experience. I walked out smiling and fell asleep immediately that night, woke up the next day and my neck which is usually stiff and cracking was loose and pain-free! I went to get an hour massage with my friend at this spa today. My friend was happy with her session. For me, I had the strangest massage session I have ever had. I get massages often during my travels as well as when I am at home, and I don't mind so much with a therapist who is not necessarily the most experienced. I had basically a "one handed" massage for one hour. She poured a ton of lotion on me, and she used her elbow only on my back, and her other hand was nowhere on my body. When she massaged my neck area, so she was sitting above my head, she used ONE fisted hand on one side of my next, and her other hand was not used on the other part of my neck! What would she only work on one side of my neck, and in all my other massage sessions for neck area the therapist would massage both right and left at the same time. I was so tempted to uncover my eyes to see what she was doing. I was wondering if she was holding her phone when she was only using one sided hand or elbow. Anyways, it was a strange session. By August, I was in desperate need of a massage & took a chance with Indulgence Massage & Bodywork, since it is close by & they offer a first time customer discount. I had a Swedish/firm massage with Venise, & it was absolutely wonderful.She is very professional & shows great attention to detail. If there is a knot or kink to be found, she will straighten it out. I wanna start off saying the staff is AMAZING, there's an abundance of services and best of all, black owned! However... My first visit was in September, I got a deep tissue massage for my birthday. My therapist was nice but skipped over a few spots, didn't apply enough pressure and worst of all, talked the entire time. I like my sessions to be quiet and relaxing; not so much in this case. But ‍. I moved to the area in July and my gf knows how much I love massages and got me a 90 min hot stone massage as a Christmas gift. Okay, so ill give them another go; making sure I didn't get the same lady from the first time. Got a dIfferent therapist this time and told her my trouble areas were mid and lower back. I started face up, she started on my neck and arms, really didn't spend much time on my hands. Worked my quads a bit, rubbed my shins and spent about 45 seconds per foot which was disappointing because I LOVE a good foot massage. I flipped over and she went to town on my back... let me add, SHE GOT SKILLS!!. She worked the hell outta the knots between my shoulder blades. I felt like pizza dough, it was great. So great that I didn't notice until I was dressing, she completely omitted my lower back, glutes, hamstrings and calves! I'm in the military and wear boots all day and work out 6 days/week. I appreciate the time she spent on my back but my legs need love too, at least throw some lotion on them tree trunks . Especially for $150 All in all I really want to like this place and make it my new go to spa, but each time I've left feeling incomplete. I got massages bi-weekly when I lived in San Diego and many around the world so I'm not a novice. I may try them again in the future. read more

My gratitude of Venise is indescribable. My mother treated me to a Manual Lymphatic Massage for my birthday. I came in with extreme pain, swelling, and just feeling overwhelmed. I purchased a package of 8 lymphatic massages post liposuction. Prior to my first session I was extremely swollen and uncomfortable. Venise assured me that the massages would help release the fluid and baby did they. She also gave suggestions on types of compression garments and diet to assist with decreasing my swelling and they worked. I was going to simply make a mental note about the experience and move on but I was asked to complete the review and was provided this link. The massage felt like an expensive lotion rub down and I admittedly never fully relaxed during the experience. Upon arriving, I wrote on the form- in two separate areas of the form--that I have tension and buildup in my lower back. The tech reviewed the form and then asked me if there was anywhere he should focus. um? I repeated: my lower back. The entire massage passed by with NO attention to my lower back. I was however asked if I wanted my glutes aka behind massaged, to which I responded no. He continued on in other areas, focusing heavily on the area between my shoulders--largely ignoring the reason for the appointment in the first place my.lower.back. Another 5 or so minutes were added to the service when I brought this up, and at this point just the top of the lower area received any attention. Note this was the reason for the visit and was communicated verbally and writing more than 3x total. I've received massages before and have not had as much dialogue as I experienced here, nor did I have to request and repeat the intended service area etc. I got the feeling that maybe the man providing the service was a little inexperienced or squeamish about body areas? He specifically noted that he did not address the area because "he wasn't sure". I found this odd and unprofessional. Clearly I was dealing with someone who was not as experienced in this area as others who have worked on me. I was also asked several times about the pressure, which at the time of questioning was fine but I noticed would wane throughout, and not stay consistent. This was unfortunately not a first rate experience. My back is tense as we speak and not only do I need another massage period I need a new massage place as well at least a tech who is comfortable with themselves and their patients as well as the technique. I am sitting here with the same tightness in my back as we just 2 days after receiving my services. I wish I would've gotten to experience one of the therapists who are named in the reviews ie Mary Jessica or Renika. read more

This review is a bit overdue but very deserved. I booked an appointment for my mother to receive a Swedish massage back in May. The owner answered the call and was very helpful and extremely patient with me as I went back and forth with questions. She was professional and clearly communicated everything I needed to know. Since I wanted everything set up cause I wouldn't be present and wanted my mom to have a seamless experience, I asked about specific masseuse that I viewed with high regards on yelp. To my surprise, the owner didn't "big up " any one employee. She gave me positive remarks and specialities of each masseuse. That let me know she most likely had quality employees and a good vetting process. I felt comfortable leaving my card info with her to charge me for my moms visit. My mom is not the best with directions so the location was a little difficult for HER to find. ( it's not seen on the Main Street and shares the building with another business ). While on the phone with the secretary the morning of my moms appointment , she came outside the office to find and flag my mother down in the parking lot. That was IT for me. I knew then that I would give this business high marks! Not to mention my mom came home feeling sooooo relaxed with awesome reviews about her experience . For my very special, milestone birthday (Sept 2018), my husband treated me to a 60-minute deep tissue massage with Jessica. It was divine! I arrived just a couple minutes late but it was no problem and Jessica took me in right away. She asked about my problem areas, or if there were places I preferred for her to focus. The massage was exactly what I needed and I felt so much better afterwards. Jessica is friendly, professional, and knows her craft very well. I have been to her once before, and she never disappoints. I received my first massage at Indulgence Massage & Bodywork last night. Jessica was awesome. I had a wonderful experience!

I've been very tense and tight in my shoulder and neck area due to work stress. I called to make an appointment and was able to receive a same day appointment (Great!). A female took my call but when I arrived it was a male ( no preference) but this is something that the client should know ahead of time. He was very courteous and polite. He tried to get me to relax but I was not comfortable. He could not get me to relax with his technique. I received a 90 minute rub down with no major techniques used. He did not use Effleurage, Tapotement, nor Petrissage. I was expecting more techniques to be used. The pressure was good and consistent. He used very little friction. Overall, it was a nice rub down but no massage was received. The location is ok, inside is very warm and welcoming but the room I was in was small and the therapists did not have enough room to move around and use other techniques. Therapist did not seem confident in his skills. My first time trying this location, however I will not return. read more

My experience was with Jessica and it wasn't so well at all I felt integrated through my whole lymphatic massage that I felt like she had not to much of a clue what she was doing . How I felt when I walk in my which was in pain was how I felt when I left out she may be great with massages but not post op lymphatic massages I felt as if I were rushed and she drilled me for questions and answers the whole time talked about other clients she had and also made me fill down about my bruises I got from having liposuction !! I wouldn't Recommend you to go here for your lymphatic massages after surgery I have found other places that are licensed and special in them I would rather have my money back persay but for the work she think she done I paid taken it as a lesson learned she advertised that she does them but not well at all !! I didn't enjoy comfort of being there I felt rushed and she didn't even allow me to complete the intake forms that you have to fill out before the massage she literally drilled me the whole time when I should have been listening to peaceful music instead of her voice what a bad experience and if you know what your doing you wouldn't be asking me so many questions and this is not a meet and greet it's bussiness somewhere I came for comfort and relief I did not receive that service at all and she didn't even help me with my garment as a courstey for it being hard to put on alone beings tho I just had surgery .. I recommend licensed people when doing these serious lymphatic drainage massage not just a massage polar !! Also I got a dry massage how can this be a spa with no natural oils such as pure 100%grape seed oil or pure almond oil or coconut oil to give me a massage for my post op I felt like she was stretching my scabs apart she says I don't want to risk infection while if u know what your doing u don't rub the oil into my incisions you would work around them not give me a dry latex glove massage I had surgery in Miami and went to a great doctor and get listened place where I got 4 lymphatic drainage massages and they use naturals oils with no preservatives or extras added . How does a spa not have this ?? I'm so confused I felt dry and more hurt when I left I had nothing to say to the other staff because seemed like they were money hungry !!
