Called around asking for sheet metals and pricing and in my favor this place was closer to me than the one in Orange County and appeared fairly priced. People are friendly, patience, and nice. I loved seeing a women worker amongst a field and career full of men, whom I was lucky enough to be the one who helped me. Update 3/28 Debi reaches out to me and was very nice and apologetic. They are going to make the situation right and I will continue to shop with IMS. Placed 2 tubing orders with a salesman named Nels and Greg. Both orders had the same delivery address however somehow only 1 order arrived(Greg's). I had to schedule a second delivery and pay a friend to wait for it. The delivery address was not corrected and the poor driver had to figure out the situation and correct Nels 2nd mistake. When the order arrived it wasn't complete. I was not given final invoices, apologies or any follow up. read more

Ims does pretty good at remnants and usually has alot to choose from. However, if you order material from the back, they are very slow requiring a 3hr time to cut metal, even 1 piece. Recently I ordered a piece which came to $87 and wasn't going to be ready for 3hrs, 1 cut in 1" bar. I canceled the order and went to k&h to see if the could do better. 1 mi down the road. My piece was ready in 10 min and the total was $47, same piece, same quality. Hopefully, this will help when people don't have the time to wait 3hrs read more

My first experience at the store was mixed. The store was nice but the manager was very rude. I had a issue with the way the metal I bought was cut. The helpful and very friendly lady who helped me brought the situation to the manager he replied with " I don't see how this is my problem" and ended up charging me for another piece of metal. I had no clue I needed to discuss the grain of the cut. I just assumed they would cut it Long ways since I needed strips. Sorry I'm not a professional in the metal industry. They had what I needed Lady in the front and in the back are helpful The biggest and only problem was these people are the slowest slowest slowest people on the face of the earth. I didn't need anything crazy and it took them an hour a half to get it to me. They're also expensive compared to other places I go to. I go to whatever is closer to the job site. I would say don't go unless you have too. If you need something order it in the morning and come back couple hours later like lunch time. But beware when you come to pick it up you'll be waiting probably 30 mins. read more

I have been in the metalworking industry for almost 15 years and this place is impressive!! After dealing with many other steel yards that lacked, not only customer service, but inventory and in-house capabilities I finally walked into IMS. WOW!!! This place is clean, organized, and stocked to the gills with material that I have had to special order in the past from other suppliers. All of their material is stored indoors, unlike some yards that have make-shift shelters barely covering the metal and you have to hope that what you need isn't covered in rust. They are a bit out of my way and I have to pass about 3 other metal suppliers to get there but I don't mind. The little bit of extra drive time is well worth it when I know I will find what I need. I will definitely be using IMS from now on! read more

I've been here once and definitely plan on going back for more metal in the future. What I liked: The service there was pretty decent and the counter guys know their stuff. There is a huge variety of metal and the prices are great! I bought two sheet metal pieces, a 4x4 22 gauge and a 4x2 20 gauge -- cold rolled steel. Together the price was under $40. They supply gloves and carts to wheel the metal out, too. Since they are open to the public, they're not afraid of people asking "noob" questions. What I didn't: They need more counter guys during busy parts of the day. I waited in line twice for more than 5 minutes. That's a pretty long time at a supplier like this, unfortunately. Final Judgment: At IMS, you'll probably find some of the cheapest metal around simply because they are so huge and can charge less with the number of products moving through their shelves. If you don't mind waiting, they are definitely going to offer you some of the best metal at the cheapest metal. Even hard to get pieces of metal can be ordered through IMS! read more

Pricing is good and customer service depends on who you talk too. It can be great or it is average. When taking deliveries it is vital to closely check your order, especially if you are ordering Hollander fittings as they are often pulled wrong. Had a very bad experience at the Burbank IMS location needed 5/8" plate steel Told me they did not have it, but we do have 1/2" plate steel gave them the size 34 x 20 and ordered three one hour later they came out for pick up all three plate were bent badly, went back to the desk and told them the plates were bad they told me that the way they well come they said the share that cuts them well do that every time and I should have know that so they are yours and there is no refund, then one of the workers said we have 5/8" plate but you will have to cut it, so OK you had the 5/8" plate and I need to pay for the damaged plate and buy the new 5/8" I called my master card and told them I did not get what I paid for and I am at the IMS , IMS only then sent the charge back to my card , loss of words for a company like this going down hill fast , time to change were us studio /Foreman buy our steel. This place has it all. They are far superior than Patton's steel of Ontario. The customer service is 10 times better and the speed of the employees here is much better. They are organized at the front checkout counter, as they use a numbering system to keep customers in order.
