I picked up some cucumbers, zucchini, and ripe plantains this trip, but they also had lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, cilantro, onions, limes, bananas, mangoes, potatoes, and more! They've been open for eight months and they sell SO MANY different things. If you love Asian grocery stores, you're sure to love this place. First of all, the store is very clean and well-organized. There is so much to look at. There are many kinds of sweet treats and candies. I almost screamed when I saw the banana and green tea Kit Kats. I'm crazy about the green tea ones. I found them once at C Fresh Market but haven't seen them there again. I know World Market has them but they're so expensive there. My husband bought the banana Kit Kats and I think I love them more than the green tea ones. Second, the prices are very reasonable for stuff that's from Asia. I know the owners must be paying a fortune for the tariffs, so I'm grateful for the good prices. Speaking of the prices, I LOVE that they have most of their items priced. There's nothing I hate more than finding things that I want to buy in a store and not knowing what the price is. They also have a scanner at the counter for you to scan an item if it isn't priced. Third, the owner is nice and helpful if you have a question about something. I like C Fresh Market but I can never find anyone to help me when I'm looking for something. And if I do happen to find someone, they don't speak English. This store is smaller than C Fresh but it still has rows and rows of goodies to look at. I originally went there to find the viral fruit-shaped ice cream, but it cost a lot more than I was willing to pay. So I left with other treats instead. They also have a lot of different types of noodles and many varieties of ramen. They have a drinks aisle with the typical drinks most Asian grocery stores have. There is also produce and several different aisles of frozen foods as well. I'm so happy I found this place.

They also have lots of freezer items, snacks and instant ramen options. The layout is very open so it feels bright and easy to navigate. I think more signs would be helpful but the place isn't huge so walking around is okay. Staff have been friendly and checking out at the cashier has always been smooth. They have good parking up front. Driving here might be the biggest obstacle because the intersection it's on is pretty busy!

I went in searching for frozen empanada dough, and Aji Amarillo. The former was easy enough to find (thank you, Goya), but even my Peruvian American friend from Chicago warned me that it's hard to find the Hot Yellow Peppers, critical to the Aji de Gallina dish from her native country that I wanted to make. And sure enough, I couldn't find it after walking all through the store! La Tapatia staff to the rescue: Through a mix of English, Spanish, and pointing-to-pictures-on-my-phone -- the staff made it a mission to help me find the Aji Amarillo. Turns out, La Tapatia had it in paste, in brine, and frozen! Can't wait to come back!

If you are familiar with the Des Moines metro the Graziano Bros name should be one you already know. Established in 1912 they are a fixture here when it comes to Italian sausage. The ordering process was smooth and the menu was displayed well. The wait wasn't long. I ordered the fried ravioli (beef filled) with marinara and an Italian Chop sandwich. The Italian Chop is almost exactly what it sounds like. It's served cold. Chopped mortadella, pepperoni, capicola, salami, provolone, tomato, onion, pepper rings, and lettuce. Tossed in a creamy Italian dressing. Served on a hoagie roll. The ravoli was served terrifyingly hot. Lol It's a bold tangy marinara. The sandwich is perfect for what it is. Service was excellent for a truck and typical of when there's a line. Busy. Not much time to small talk. Graziano Bros offers, sausages, cheeses, breads, meatballs, etc. plus dry goods offered in wholesale amounts for additional savings. A wonderful little shop with a feeling of nostalgia and a focus on excellent customer service. It has a wonderful aroma of amazing food selections.
