Currently she has a cat named Pumpkin, a hamster named Pig, a snake named Tally, a frog named Bob, and a cockatiel named Peep. This business sells frozen mice for her snake, crickets for her frog and all the bird feed and supplies she will need for her new cockatiel. I recently bought a heat lamp with a heating element only, no light, for my outdoor cat house. The lamps are normally used for lizard environments and terrariums. But it works fine for my barn cats giving them ten more degrees of warmth than the outside temperature. I also added some insulation to their cat house. We have even found food specifically for a hermit crab when no other store had such an item. So yeah, this store has just about a little bit of everything for pets and literally lives up to it's name regarding the "Plus."

The place was really busy, but I was able to speak to a very nice young lady named Evelyn (I believe... I'm extremely bad with names, but think that was it. If not Apologies). She really took the time to help me catch up on some of the changes in the hobby and focus in on somethings I think I may like. I have more research to do but will definitely be back when it comes to make some critical decisions and buy some of the key components such as aquarium itself, substrate, filtration, etc. Really appreciate the time she took with me. I'm not an expert to be able to "grade" The Reef like some may be able to, but I can speak to how they treated me today. The Reef seemed to have a depth of products to help someone just starting out at a small scale, to the very experienced hobbyist looking to go to the next level or the advanced aquarium keeper who needs to pick up some specific item. (I took the pics to help me remember some of the items I was looking into but figured they would be good for this review as well)

I saw a Black Friday advertisement flyer in my Mooresville newspaper and decided to check them out again. I was looking for a couple of pairs of new gloves for one. I did manage to find a new pair of gloves to go with my new jacket I bought last month from the Indianapolis Speedway Museum. I purchased a pair of Ridgeline leather gloves that will become a pair of driving gloves for me and they were very reasonably priced. I didn't find the second pair but I think they will not appear until the Spring or Summer seasons. I did find a nice assortment of insulated gloves, socks, boots and other outdoor clothing. Unfortunately they did not have my size in the socks since my feet are a size smaller than the normal size of large. They also had an assortment of women's socks and knit hats for both genders. I like this store and need to remember to come back often.

I knew right away that I could get the same tiny pine pellets at Tractor Supply, MUCH cheaper. Tractor Supply is listed as a pet friendly store, so I took my furry buddy, Clarabelle with me. She was happy to escort me back to livestock bedding and feed, where I found what I thought I was looking for. They have 40 pound bags of Pine pellets for $5.99. You will pay $10-$15 for a 20 pound bag of Feline Pine, depending where you buy it. So this is a great deal. However, at first, I couldn't see anything about what the pellets are made of. Being large, heavy bags, the way they were stacked high, I couldn't get a good look. So I asked an employee as he walked past me. He looked the bag over, said he wasn't sure and he'd go ask. As he came back thru, he told me he couldn't find anything on it, apologized, and kept on going. I did a quick search online and quickly realized it was indeed pine and exactly what I needed. I noticed the word "pine" across the top as I loaded the bag into my cart. The cashier was polite and offered my pup a treat, even tho my picky gal had no interest. Nice enough store and it really has a lot of stuff packed into the space. I would have appreciated more helpful, knowledgeable employees.

When he got home he starting having diarrhea. That progressed to him pooping blood, which we already knew happens when he gets something he isn't supposed to have. I called and they refuse to do anything on a refund saying that even though they messed up and gave us the wrong food back, they did not mess up in giving him something he wasn't supposed to have. They said "sometimes older dogs poop blood". If I wanted my dog to be in worse shape after two days I could have just left him alone at home and saved a couple hundred dollars.

Today's small businessman needs all the help they can get BUT when negligence is involved, I am compelled to expose it. I used Alternative pet sitters 3 times after my son left for college, and I had no alternative but to hire out pet sitting when I left town. the first 2 times were 3 day weekends and all seemed to go well. The 3rd time we left for 6 days. Upon our return we found a dry as the desert automatic watering bowl. It was only necessary to fill the 1 gallon water bowl twice during the duration of our absence, and Alternative Pets wasn't able to accomplish this. The 3 mainstays of pet service are Feeding, Watering, and Walking, & Alternative Pet services failed to complete these 3 basics. DO NOT LEAVE YOU PET IN THEIR CARE!
