It has since changed its name, but is owned by the same folks. It's simply spruced up inside and has a more bistro feel. This eatery is still located at an old train station, in an actual train car. The French food that I have had here is amazing. I had escargot for the first time in my life from this eatery. They were in butter and garlic, and were tender. I grossed by friend out by eating the entire appetizer. I don't get why snails gross people out. Then again, I'm Chinese and he isn't. But, wait! It gets better. I had frog legs here for the first time, too. There is nothing like butter to make food taste even better. It is true that frog legs taste like chicken. There's a naturally subtle, sweet taste to frog. The butter was delightful with it. Okay, I didn't come to this eatery to eat butter. I've had the tortière, which was so comforting and yummy. It had pork and small potatoes in it. I have also had the boeuf à la bourguignon. It was in a red wine sauce with mushrooms, onions, and whipped potatoes. So good! The beef just melted in my mouth with every bite. I have yet to have dessert here. One of these days, I will! I miss this place. I look forward to returning and checking out the menu. (145)

I was coming home with two friends after a day at Bird's Hill Park, and decided to stop by here so I can try here for the first time. The ambiance here is quite upscale with the lighting inside. I had the seafood linguine, which came with a garlic toast. It was really good, though at a slightly elevated price. I would say for the north half of the city, this is the best upscale cuisine. However, I would rank this below Cafe Carlo and Tre Visi. Not to take away anything from here though, it's still a great place to dine. Service was excellent throughout here.

My husband ordered the pasta, and the kitchen was happy to substitute a spicy tomato sauce for the rosé sauce, which we really appreciated. My brother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the Piri Piri Chicken. We also discovered a fantastic Canadian Riesling from Tawse Winery in the Niagara region. The only disappointment was the limited by-the-glass wine selection, so we ended up ordering a bottle instead. Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to have a few more options by the glass. A couple of tips for first-time visitors: parking is paid street parking, and the restaurant can be a little tricky to find. Look for the colorful striped exterior of the Mere Hotel--the restaurant is tucked behind it along the river. Overall, we had a terrific experience. We LOVED the pear/prosciutto as well as the Brie/apple varieties but the standard tomato variety was also great. At 6 pieces to an order you need 4 people (like us) unless you're only having a salad (like my wife) as your main. We also tried the Piri Piri chicken-very flavorful, the paella-yummy, and the chicken and chorizo pasta. They serve cocktails and the margarita and the whiskey sour were both standouts for their quality even if they were a touch lite on booze. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Both were stellar (and this is my personal favourite course). The lavash with the spread had an interesting array of flavours and although there was a lot happening it worked really well. The shaved deer was likewise just as good. The herbs and peanut really came through. We then ordered the scallops and the quesadilla. The mushroom quesadilla came in a pocket form, with a mushroom filling. The sauce combination worked really well, and the filling was creamy and well-flavoured. The scallops were fine, though a little disappointing. The pickled rhubarb, although amazing, kind of took attention from the scallops themselves, which was just decent. Our mains were the drunk prik chicken and the ravioli. The chicken was really good, and it was reminiscent of an elevated Chinese fried rice dish. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was deceptively huge. The ravioli was quite nice as well. The filling was pork filling was great and savoury, though I wasn't a big fan of the braised vegetable. Finally, the dessert came. We ordered the tres leches and the coconut sorbet. The sorbet was really refreshing and I liked how every aspect incorporated the coconut (from the ice cream to the whip). The tres leches cake was next level and is probably my favourite thing I had that day. The cake was moist and sweet, and the tortilla ice cream elevated it. They gave us free chocolates to end our meal, which was again a nice surprise to an amazing dinner. I like how their menu incorporates different cuisines (such as Chinese, Mexican, and Filipino) and they do so in an elevated interesting way. It came with a cream of mushroom soup. The soup really caught me off guard. It was AMAZING. The mushroom pieces were plentiful and you can tell it was homemade, not canned. The burger looks like a giant tower and I was afraid to cause a mess, but it was delicious! I especially loved their burger and the bun that was used. The lemon soufflé was just okay but hard to stop eating. You can't just take one spoon bite, you gotta eat all of that soft fluffy cream because it's delicious and easy to digest. My friend liked his Pecan chocolate pie and he said the chicken soup was okay but I noticed that it didn't have a whole lot of chicken pieces and noodles in it.
