My Pain: I have had neck, shoulder and jaw pain since mid year last year which started with poorly set crown and filling dental work, which the dentist who gave it to me called TMJ and also told me it was my problem/fault. May I note here that I have had crowns and fillings done and redone for more than 30 years! Two dentist told me that I now needed to go to an orthodontist to correct my bite! What?! A friend had the same experience and ended up getting braces as an adult to stop the pain! I suffered with this aching for nearly a year because I was afraid to go see anyone else in that industry. I stopped jogging, it would awake me from my sleep, I constantly was massaging my left side, basically I was miserable. He is both knowledgeable, compassionate and professional. My father is half paralyzed due to a recent stroke and my mother had a lot of hip pain. Dr. Liu is one of the few acupuncturists in San Diego who know how to use head needles (头针) to stimulate brain functions. My father's droopy face was significantly improved after treatment and the swollenness of his joints due to lack of movement was reduced. Dr. Liu uses electric pulses to enhance needles (电针) for my mother's pain treatment. His 推拿 (tuina) combines chiropractic treatment in addition to therapeutic massage. My parents found his treatments to be helpful and Qi Rhythm always help us to make best accommodations so my parents can be treated at the same time to save me a trip. First interacted with Sage in IG, they were always super responsive. When I finally came in, from the first consultation to now it's just been an incredible experience. All of the staff are so friendly and caring, but Dr. Erika is truly someone special. I've felt so cared for and have seen immediate improvement for a handful of health issues that traditional medicine hasn't been able to help for years. The two biggest areas have been sleep and plantar fasciitis. When I started just a few weeks ago, I was getting only 2-3 hours of sleep a night, I've been working with a sleep doctor for over a year. After the first session, I've been getting close to 4 hours of sleep. And now I'm over 5 hours in just a couple weeks. Incredible. My plantar fasciitis has been so bad this whole year, and after the first session I almost didn't realize it had nearly gone away by the second session. Elaine spoke with me for maybe about 15 minutes about my issues and then put about ten or so acupuncture needles in me. She then left me to lie there for about 25 minutes. She came back and removed the needles and then gave me a massage for about 10-15 minutes. The massage was actually very nice. She has nice hands and a nice touch. I would have much preferred just the massage for the entire session. She then talked with me for about another ten minutes. The session was $155 because it was the first session. Then subsequent sessions are $105. Unfortunately I felt no benefit or improvement from the session. Maybe acupuncture just isn't for me.

If you are more high maintenance and want all the extras and more expensive spa features this may not be the place for you, but giving that as a warning now so someone with that type of lifestyle doesn't go in thinking it's something it's not. I really feel like I have to leave a review because some of the negative reviews almost discouraged me from going here, but I am SO glad I did. About 2 weeks ago I strained a muscle in my left upper back and another just deep to my L shoulder blade. I have background in PT and work in healthcare so I tried to resolve it myself with no avail. In the field I work in, I am axial loading A LOT, carrying heavy bags, gear, and equipment. This week I told myself I NEEDED to get a massage. I've gotten several over the years as someone with Thoracic (70deg) and lumbar (50deg) severe scoliosis. I got a 90min full body massage today for $90. I had Lucy and she was GREAT! I showed her the areas I was having tightness and she worked that out and more in the first 30 minutes. I was skeptical at first because the first 30 mins of the massage were dry with no lotion, but I think that was intentional to work out the knots that I had throughout my back. For the next 30 mins, she used lotion and primarily continued on my whole back, neck, and upper glute area. Last 30 minutes she covered my limbs front/back and chest area. I am a 5'2, 160 lbs, solid, athletic build female. My masseuse was probably no more than 120lbs but you wouldn't have known it. She used leverage to really get into the areas I had problems with and I left as a satisfied customer feeling much looser in my upper back. Definitely will be back and recommend! Things to consider: *For the price, you're not getting a fancy place. For some the sheet may be too small/not enough coverage. If that's something that is a concern for you I would recommend bringing a sheet of your own along for extra draping and/or asking for an additional sheet. It didn't bother me, but I saw that was a complaint below. *Walls and doors are thin. If you're going there for a muted experience where you only hear the music in the background, not a place for you. (I'm super easy and low maintenance so that wasn't bothersome for me, but I could see how that might bother someone else.) *They do not do an intake/waiver form like other fancier places do. If that's something that will bother you, I think that's a good thing to inform as well. They have an eastern medicine approach (not bothersome to me but maybe to others)
