I had a lot of tension in my upper back and an irritated upper rib. Taking deep breaths was painful and I needed some relief in order to continue my training. I emailed Stan (tried calling the number on google and it was not connecting) requesting a massage within the next two days and he was able to fit me in. Stan gave me a really excellent session of massage and stretching! I really needed a sports massage: I had competed in national and international cycling events, so my legs really needed work. Also, I have shoulder issues from a motorcycle accident. I met with the Stan for the first time, and a) he listened, b) he immediately told me his plan for massaging and stretching, and c) he went to work. He worked deep tissues, he located the tight/knotted areas that need released and then slowly got them to release. He also put me in a number of positions that stretched/released my shoulders, hips, and hamstrings. Note: an effective sports massage will involve some discomfort -- but Stan was very good about checking in with me to make sure he was not hurting me or surpassing my tolerance level. Stan also was helpful in working with me on my breathing during the massage. It is important to continue to breathe rhythmically as you body is releasing tension. The next morning I felt energized, and definitely more loose and relaxed, especially in the areas that were really tight: legs and shoulders. Highly recommended! read more

Brazilian jiu-jitsu can leave me feeling pretty sore sometimes, but Stan is very good at fixing whatever tight or sore muscles I've got when I show up. Was recently visiting San Diego and was looking for a massage specific to my needs as an athlete and trainer. My fiancé found Stan after doing some research and I couldn't have been happier with the results. He was responsive, accommodating, and the massage was absolutely top quality. Stan worked all the areas I asked him to focus on, with the perfect amount of pressure applied so I wouldn't be sore for the extensive training session I had coming up the following day. As others already have raved about Stas, he is the man indeed. Originally, I got a groupon for the first two sessions, but now I am a regular. The reason I got the groupon was because I had a nagging pain in the shoulders that wouldn't go away. Stas is a busy guy so I had to schedule a month out. In the meantime, I went to a chiropractor and had three sessions with four massages done - it helped but didn't eliminate the pain. A month later, my time with Stas finally came and after the first session, the pain was gone. He is able to just look at your back and tell you things you didn't even know about yourself (and they were all correct, some matching what the chiropractor told me earlier, others what I know already). The location is a bit unorthodox - it's a personal training gym, a martial arts studio, and many other things at once. The massage table is up on the second floor in the middle of the martial arts studio (just in case you have issues finding it like I did my first time). So it made me question the legitimacy of the whole setup at first, but all those concerns went away once the massage actually started. Stats really puts himself into it, working your muscles and getting any knots out. And no, I'm not getting any discounts from him for a review. I just really think you'll get the best bang for your buck if you are willing to work around his crazy schedule. read more

I got a groupon from a couple of my friends for this place a couple months back, but have continually had issues making and having follow-through with an appointment. I first had an appointment in August that my friends set up for me. I showed up but the door was closed. I called the company phone # without anyone picking up. Eventually after about 20 minutes, I just left because clearly no one was there. Later I got a call back with something I vaguely remember like confusion / miscommunication / forgetting (?) the appointment, and we set another date to reschedule in September/October. When that day drew near, a couple days before the appointment, I got a call asking to reschedule because Stan was sick. Sure, of course! I totally get it. You're not feeling well and we don't wanna get other people sick. So we rescheduled to December. But then when December came, I came in to my "third" appointment only to find the door locked. After overcoming the hesitation to obnoxiously knock on the door and have it opened, I realized that the person working out in the gym inside was the person I was supposed to have an appointment with, but he was totally unaware of our appointment even though I deliberately keep track of all my meetings with specifics in my calendar. He offered to shower really quick and keep our appointment, but I already had something scheduled for after our appointment so we decided to reschedule. To be fair, he offered to extend the massage by 30 min to make up for it, so I thanked him (and he's made that offer both times before when we had to reschedule) and set out. And then finally the "fourth" appointment in January came. This time I called ahead of time by about an hour to try confirm our appointment, but again, no one picked up. Not the best assurance, but I still came to the appointment. And again, no one opened the door and I waited outside for 20 minutes, knocking every few minutes. There was a sort of "do not disturb" sign on the doorknob and I almost think I heard a noise inside.. but can't confirm either way. Honestly, I don't yelp much, but this experience was a waste of my time and of my friends' money (hopefully Groupon offers a refund for this situation). I don't know how excellent the services are here (I wish I did), but regardless, the customer service and scheduling issues are terrible. At least in terms of making and keeping appointments, I can't recommend this place at all :( read more

Stan is a great massage therapist. He finds problem areas on his own and keeps working on them until the tension is released. I came in with pain all over my upper back and mid back and some very old tension in my neck. Stan used his special training and expertise and made most of the pain go away in just one session. At the end of the session, I also asked for him to use the massage gun on a problem area deep in my back and not only did he get the spot, he also used the massage gun up and down all the way up to my neck and even did the other side of my back. This is a life-changing session and I highly recommend. I now realize that we all probably have areas of tension in our back and/or neck that we might not even realize, and it completely changes how you feel when someone like Stas can get in there with his incredibly strong and precise hands as well as a powerful massage gun. He also sent me an instructional video that shows an exercise that I can do at home! He really should get 6 stars. read more

I went to my doctor and she just gave me pain medicine that did not help at all,I even went to the chiropractor thinking that I needed and adjustment. Had a great first appointment with Stan. This is a one-man op. A little bit of an odd setting but it's because the guy does so many different things! I was a bit late to the appointment, so after getting ready, Stan offered to refund my missed time and that was a really nice gesture, but using a Groupon he has running right now, it's so affordable that this was totally unnecessary. Stan gave a wonderfully high-pressure massage, but he can easily change this to suit your needs. I was given this Groupon as a gift. When I tried to make an appointment he was already booked a month out. When the day came, he calls to reschedule due to illness. No prob. But his availability again a mo later & late at night. Not comfortable with that, I reschedule for Mon 12/17. As a person who does jiu jitsu and runs long-distance races, there are certain parts of the back and legs that are always tense or tight or aching or all of the above. Because Stan also does jiu jitsu and works with athletes, he was able to pinpoint where the issues on my back were and relieve the tightness in my legs. In addition, I am currently recovering from shoulder and foot injuries, and Stan was able to work around the injuries, improving and increasing my limited range of motion while relieving the extra knots and tension that had built up as a result of the injuries.
