And the KICKER is that when I got the bill for both appointments, Dr. Dewan's fast, incomplete exam was $260 (my portion after insurance was $134) and the far longer and thorough exam from uptown was $130 (my portion after insurance was $53). Completely ridiculous. That is highway robbery. And a non thorough doctor.

He used old lenses that he pulled from a case to check vision, but had new equipment to check for eye pressure too - the best of both worlds. The past several years I've opted for the corporate giants for exams, but this year I decided to look for a real private practice and found one right down the street! I'm adding all of this because I was so surprised by how much Dr Tyler reminded me of that optometrist! Dr. Tyler did a great job with his exam and he spent a chunk of time with me. His effort to answer questions and explain what he found in the exam was way over and above what I've gotten used to the past years - like I said: Superb!! She was very thorough with the exams and explaining the process and results. My children had a slight change in vision, but not enough of a difference to warrant new glasses. She was honest in her assessment and wasn't pushy with purchasing glasses that weren't needed. I really appreciate that. She is a friendly and competent professional who delivers excellent customer service. I highly recommend Dr. Jamison. Update on June 24, 2018: Dr. Jamison and her staff are still providing excellent customer service. I took my two children for another eye exam a few days ago.
