Started by talking with an optician about my insurance info and she brought me back to get me started. Went through health hx, etc... Checked my Rx, did the poof of air in the eye (which was way better this time than I remember?), and she gave me the option for dilation drops or the pictures-- I chose the pictures partially because I didn't want to deal with blurry vision for the next few hours, but also I love looking at the pics! She was extremely kind, and comforting through all the tests! Cool to see the back of my eye, with arteries and the fovea, etc! After I had the initial tests completed, I waited for the Dr. He brought me back and was super nice and really good about explaining everything in detail. I love learning so it was great! He explained in detail was astigmatism was, how HTN and diabetes look on the pics (luckily mine looked healthy), and he went through anatomy of the eye, explaining the macula, fovea, optic nerve, etc! We went through the letters, dots, which is sharper, etc per eye and then we proceeded to try in contacts and do the tests again. Once this was complete he walked me out front and I saw another optician who was eager and excited to help me pick out some new frames! She was helping me pick frames that fitted my face and was honest with her opinion on a variety of frames-- SUPER helpful! We also talked about similar interests of working out and strength training, so friendly and relatable! We decided on a pair and they are super bright and colorful! I can't wait to get them! Overall, amazing customer service! That Dr is lucky to have such an awesome staff, who are down to earth and positive! Everyone was sweet, and really good vibes from this place! Recommend 100%!! Come back about 3 weeks later to pick up my glasses. Everything all good. Than about a month later I get a bill for 1100 saying my insurance wasn't active at the time but now it is. I went there to talk to the manager to try to come up with a solution. They were extremely unhelpful and borderline rude. They told me either pay now or we're sending it to collections. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel confident I'm getting the best care for my eyes! I see Dr. VanMeter for my regular eye exams. She takes the time to listen to me and makes sure I'm happy with my prescription. She always manages to dig up some samples for me, despite my not-too-common prescription. The exam rooms are spotless. It's a nice, quiet setting that's perfect for folks who experience appointment anxiety. This past year was my first time ordering glasses from the store, and I'd definitely order again. The staff were extremely helpful with my indecisiveness about the frames. They had great suggestions, and I ended up with a pair I love. I initially had some issues with the fit, and they encouraged me to return as many times as necessary to ensure I was comfortable with them. Their selection of frames are on the expensive side, but they seem to be worth the price. Things to note: There's a parking garage in the same building. You can access it through the alley to the left of the clinic. They have convenient online scheduling. They also offer an online contact ordering system, but it's a little confusing to use. I ordered glasses from a frame I tried on in store. Unfortunately the frame I received, which was…read moreordered in another color, did not fit the same. I did not have a chance to try on the ordered frame prior to receiving the finished product. The one I received was slightly bigger which meant it was resting on my cheeks and loose. I went to return the glasses after a half day of wear and was told about their no return policy which I was not made aware of prior to purchase - and was essentially told I was imagining the difference in frame size (at Wayzata location) even when holding them side by side (I was told I was holding them to make them look that way). After the Wayzata location called the manager at Golden Valley I was told I could return them with a 30% restocking fee. These glasses were over $900. So I was to pay $300 for glasses that did not fit the same as the frame I tried on and believed I was ordering. After I made a call to the manager, who was at the Golden Valley location, they did agree to take them back. I also shared that they gaslit my (elderly) mother on how her glasses were fitting a few years ago at the Maple Grove location. I had defended them to my mother as a patient of 20(ish) years but after today they lost a customer. Millimeters matter in eye care/eyewear. The Golden Valley location that I returned them to agreed that even the "same" frames can absolutely have size differences and that can alter fit. Please do better for your patients.

The nurse I had was lovey. Dr. Sheffer however, was super condescending, flippant, and rushed me a lot. She said things like "why were you so stressed out about this??" After I had shown her a photo of the growth that is touching my iris and was bright red for weeks.. I'm 30 years old and don't have the other risk factors associated with this condition. She simultaneously told me that this condition is "so common" but that "only immigrants or people who move here from the equator" have anything to worry about when it comes to this condition worsening. She told me that if the pinguecula flared up again I could just call and send photos and she could prescribe me steroid drops as that's the only thing that can be done about this condition. One and a half months later, it's bad again and I just called and went back and forth with her nurse Tatianna (again very sweet and helpful) only to hear that I'm expected to make another appointment because there's nothing abnormal on my file even though I was diagnosed by Dr. Scheffer with a pinguecula and she saw my photos of how bad it had been. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this practice.
