I've been going to Dr. Inga Zilberstein since 2002 she delivered my daughter with absolute Care and it went flawless at Lenox Hill Hospital. She's a no nonsense Doctor Who is there to care for you and make sure that everything goes smoothly. I have seen poor reviews on here that she doesn't have good bedside manner or she's not very nice. Well my answer to that is.. Do You want a good doctor or are you looking to make friends Because Dr. Zilberstein is the right doctor to go to if you're having a child or if you're past menopause, she also cares for my daughter who is 21 years old now. The doctor visit itself was fine- just fine. Everything after was a nightmare. I asked if I owed any money-- was told no. Months later, with ZERO warning and ZERO emails/ mail/ phone calls, a 'debt' under $50 was sent to collections. That's a huge ding on my credit for no reason. I wasn't trying to skip paying-- I didn't know I owed anything at all. This is ridiculous; the office had my phone number and email, but didn't once contact me before sending to collections. No bedside manner whatsoever. Barged in on me and didn't even knock. She couldn't even take blood correctly. Still black and blue a week later. I had to switch doctors due to mine retiring. Could this be the worst, most uninterested, incompetent, insensitive gynocologist in NYC? I am convinced it is. She sees me once a year. Her exam doesn't exist, she prescribes the medicine I take and never gives me the mumber of refills I need. She is abrasive, treats patients like cattle, calls me for an evaluation of her. Dr. Zilberstein cared for my wife during her pregnancy and delivered her as well. She was nothing short of spectacular throughout the entire process. During labor, she spent 4 hours with us, and when there were complications, she explained everything in detail. My wife did not want a c-section, and Dr. Z knew this. She tried all different maneuvers and procedures, including holding my wife and the baby for nearly an hour while my wife was on her hands and knees. Ultimately, we needed to have a c- section, which she performed swiftly and skillfully, delivering us a beautiful baby boy. She came and rounded on my wife on a daily basis while admitted in the hospital. She helped make a possible bad experience very pleasant. All in all, we were very happy with the care my wife received, and would highly recommend Dr. Z to any future expecting mother. read more

Went to this doctor for a consultation less than two months ago. There is a small bill that I have to delay paying because of a separate insurance issue out of my control. (The bill was only processed a month ago, figured I'd have time to let my insurance fix their mistake.) I've informed the office. However, they continue to call twice a day as well as send 1-2 emails a day. Every day. And now they're going to charge fees for a bill that is a month old?? Sad to think of people in this situation with an exorbitant bill. Wouldn't recommend this office. read more

My experience with Dr. Zilberstein was fine. I got an annual and a prescription from her, and waited 30 minutes for 10 minutes of attention, but it's not like I wanted my exam to take any longer. She seemed knowledgeable, if a bit brusque. read more

It's all true. Dr Zilberstein does look stern, but she is very caring. She's like the no-nonsense mother/Grandma who doesn't waste time jibber-jabbering. She'll tell you everything you need to know and if you have questions, she will take the time to answer you. I actually started going to her cause she did a procedure on me at another clinic and I was totally in love with her! She was caring, gentle, explained to me what procedure I was doing and what exactly I would feel. She put me at ease and it was awesome. In a way, kind if made the experience "fun"! And cause of that, I looked her up and started going to her as my ob/gyn. The front-desk ladies are also very nice, as well as the technician. And the wait has never been long either. I highly recommend Dr Z. She is very knowledgeable, thorough and solutions oriented. I have been a patient for 25 years -- from my late 20's to my early 50's. This is quiet a span in a woman's life from routine health, pregnancy prevention, fertility support, miscarriage, perimenopause and breast cancer -- and of course, a ton of false alarms, disease worries, imagined conditions and assorted questions. I am a patient of Dr Zilberstein for about 7 years. She delivered both of my children. I can only say that she is professional, very knowldgeble and if I had questions, she paid attention, she was calming and gave me useful and practical ideas or advice. The hospital's fetal clinic was giving me a hard time with telling me information about my babies without the explanation that was not there place to do. Dr Z. was very calming and explained everything. My children are both perfect. Her staff is also caring and helpful! I am sure going to stay her patient for the upcoming years. She is the best and I love her... 1 myomectomy and 2 complicated pregnancies all over age 35yrs later. Dr. Z is very No nonsense and may come off a little rough around the edges but she has a heart of gold. She will bust her ass for you when it comes to your health. I really wish I would have seen the other reviews. My exam was 60 seconds flat. She only examined one breast, she didn't even LOOK at my vagina at ALL!! She did a swab quickly and that's IT! Asked me no questions, nothing. I was only coming for a check up and birth control and thank god I have been with the same guy four years or I would be worried about my health. I told the nurse that did my blood work what happened and she looked me straight in my face and told me that it didn't happen. That both my breasts were checked, yet, she wasn't even in the room for the exam! Awful service and I really don't even think she should be in practice. read more

A mistake by this office recently cost me over $900. I've been a satisfied patient for years, until recently. After a routine check up, they they sent lab work to the wrong lab, leaving me on the hook for nearly a thousand dollars in charges from the lab. I've contacted them via phone and email multiple times to simply ask what happened, and I have not received any response. It's been months. This seems entirely unprofessional and unethical to me. I am trying to be courteous and give 2 starts just for the number of years I spent with this doctor. I was Dr. Zilberstein's patient for over 13 years. I didn't have much of Ob-Gyn experience before to compare her with others plus she speaks my language so that seemed to be a good choice. My first pregnancy went well and I felt like I was in trust-worthy hands. However, I was kind of surprised when while delivering my first baby she insisted on inducing my labor with meds because "otherwise she will be in the hospital forever". However, I was very firm about natural (with epidural, though) delivery and it all went well. My sister (per my advice) became her patient too, and when she ended up having none-emergency C-section and together with her husband asked Dr. Z. to wait for 15 (!) minutes so the baby would be born on the next day so it would be the date "7" - the Dr said "no, I am not going to wait". And sure she didn't. My sister left her and is very happy with another Dr for the last 7 yrs. With my second baby last year she was my Dr, of course. I can't describe my shock when 2 weeks before my due date she told me that she "can't postpone her vacation plans anymore" and I needed to induce my labor. Seriously?! You hear about my due date the first time?! I must mention that I am now living in NJ and was commuting for these visits just because I wanted the baby to be born with her. Well, Dr. Z. recommended me to wash floor with my hands in my house, that would be a "natural" way of inducing. I now think I should have told her to come over and do that for me on her own but then I started doing exactly that so stressed I was over an idea of a totally unknown dr from her office to be there for delivery. My labor started 2 days earlier and Dr. Z. was there. Although she repeatedly told me and my husband that she knew I wanted no labor induction and she supported that - as soon as she walked in the hospital room she started insisting on pitocin to induce it as "they will kick me out on the street with that slow contractions", which were slow with the first baby too. Again, under that stress I agreed and I strongly believe that it set everything off completely wrong way. I ended up having C-section. I must add that nurses don't listen to her and do what they think they should. I was waiting for anesthesiologist in active labor for 45 minutes after she called him. Terribly painful experience, to be honest. And finally I was never able to get a clear answer from her as to what exactly went wrong with totally healthy pregnancy since it ended up with C-s. "I don't know" - the best I could get from her. I left her and I know that I made the right choice. read more

Dr. Zilberstein is an excellent doctor. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I appreciate that I am able to call and speak with Dr. Zilberstein whenever I have a concern. Even when I bump into Dr. Zilberstein on the street, she will take the time to speak with me. The staff also does an excellent job of making sure pharmacies have all prescriptions necessary. I recently moved to the city and was in need of a doctor as I was experiencing some issues. I went in to see Dr. Z and from the second I arrived, she was quick to shuffle me out. I felt she was very short and did not ask any of the questions other doctors have asked at initial visits. After leaving, she prescribed me the incorrect prescription. When I called to ask why she had prescribed the prescription, she said "It says on the bottle, take 4 times a day for 2 days". I had to state multiple times that I was not calling regarding the dosage, but that I had no idea why the prescription was prescribed. She was very rude and said it was a mistake. She offered to pay me for the copay if I brought her the prescription (seemed a little sketchy to be doing this?). Additionally, when she returned my blood test results to me, she was very short on the phone and had no treatment suggestions or next steps to deal with the hormonal imbalance seen on the results. I have called the office multiple times over the past months to 1) get a copy of my blood results and 2) figure out how to refund my copay, and my calls have not been returned. All in all, I had a terrible experience and would not recommend Dr. Z. read more

I've only been there once so far. I got a feeling that the doctor knows what she is doing. She does not shed smiles, but she will help you with your issues. I felt that i could trust her. Dr. Zilberstein delivered all 3 of my children. She is such an amazing and conservative doctor (I had gestatioanl diabetes for all 3 pregnancies and she monitored me religiously). I have a privilege to be Dr. Zilberstein patient for five years now. Every time I go back to her office, I realize that I made the best decision to switch my doctors when I did.
