Dr. Maiquel Carrasco went above and beyond for me, passing the test with flying colors. I recently had a health scare regarding a lump in my breast. When I arrived at Lenox Hill Radiology, they informed me my referral was incorrect-even though they had days to notify me beforehand. It was Christmas Eve at 3 PM, and every other doctor's office was closed. In a panic, I called the personal cell phone number Dr. Carrasco provides to his patients. To my amazement, he picked up, calmed me down, and called the radiology center directly to fix the referral. Dr. Carrasco is down-to-earth, a great listener, and has an impeccable bedside manner. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who truly cares.! read more

Over the past two years, every experience with Dr Carrasco and his practice has been beyond frustrating. Front office staff are horrendous. Someone called about abnormal results they received regarding my mammogram but listed off results that were inaccurate. While my mammogram was abnormal, it was very confusing and frustrating to have someone rattle off results that weren't even true. It made me very concerned. I just had a visit today at 9 am and was not made aware that I would have to provide a urine sample. The communication all around is horrible. Dr Carrasco can be very condescending when asking for clarification. He and the staff apparently don't think that providing background information is helpful, and when you push for answers and clarification, he starts talking to you like you're being ridiculous. I've had to proactively call the office about lab results. They do not give a heads up if they're recommending ultrasounds multiple times a year (and it's unclear for what reason) that your insurance won't cover. While Dr. Carrasco was wonderful, don't count on his nurses or front desk or anyone to inform you that any "covered" blood panels you can take might include tests that are actually NOT covered by your insurance. And then you'll get stuck with a bill that THEY should actually be responsible for since they gave you false information. read more

Im not sure how anyone can feel comfortable with this doctor. The office gave me an appointment to see him real fast, that same week. I come in, there is a 2.5 hour wait time to see him. I was there for a second opinion on what I consider to be a very serious diagnosis. As soon as I get called in to the room the nurse starts bragging about him and selling him to me which was the first red flag. He then walks in and start fist bumping me and bragging about how he has been "doing this for 30 years". I explain to him what I was in for, he takes a look at the imaging from a previous exam at another doctors office and I ask him what was his opinion. He says that his opinion is what ever the image impression said because the technicians know what thry are doing. He cut me off many times and did not listen at all to my concerns. Downplayed my symptoms completely. Did not listen to any of my family history and gave me a diagnosis of a "simple cyst" without even looking at me or a physical exam. Then starts to say that he will treat me like im his daughter and that he would take care of my like family and gives me his personal cell phone to call in case of anything urgent. I left his office concerned, terrified, and annoyed that for a 2.5 hour wait time I got 5 minutes with an unhinged male doctor that didnt listen, gaslit, fist bumped, was condescending and was aggressively selling himself (with the staff in on it). My cousin had an appointment the same day with him, I accompanied her in the room afterwards and he literally discussed my case in front of her. Serious lack of professionalism and privacy which is a hippa violation. Also called my cousin a chicken when she opted out of a procedure with him. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!! read more

I would like to first say that the Doctor is AMAZING. This is not a review of him at all. Nothing but the best to say Dr. Carrasco! He's incredible! Five stars or more! This review is aimed toward the overwhelming frustration over a co- payment that was collected, but not recorded two years ago. The office only accepts cash. I had to go to the ATM after my appointment and return with cash. Whoever was working the desk two years ago failed to note that I returned with payment. I will say I love Dr. Carrasco and I've been coming here for years because of him. He is professional, sweet and informative. However his office is run poorly, they scheduled me for a sonogram before my appointment and gave me an incorrect time so I had to come in super early and now I've been waiting an hour to see the doctor and I'm still in the waiting room. They schedule too many patients and appointment times mean nothing. It's really frustrating because I come on my lunch break and have to wait SO long. Every single time I've made an appointment and shown up early I end up waiting at least an hour and a half to two hours. They need to figure out how to schedule appointments so people are not waiting all day. It's horrible. I've had mixed experiences with the staff. I call to ask why after requesting 10 days ago for a prescription to be filled it still hasn't been done after countless reminders it hasn't been filled. They were highly rude and ended up hanging up after they said they filled it. The doctors themselves are fine, its just the experience to get to see the actual doctors that is horrible. read more

Both him and his partner are not very knowledgeable about vulvar pain. For years I stayed with them and tried different steroids, creams, pills, etc. They had no clue what was wrong. I've more recently been diagnosed with vulvodynia and had a vestibulectomy and I'm doing much better. The best doctor I have ever worked with! This was my first male gynecologist. I have always been hesitant about dealing with men, but after having one bad female gynecologist and my best and favorite long-time gynecologist move out of my neighborhood and out of my network, I actually gave up on going to the doctor. After more than 10 years or avoiding the doctor after the last experience, I finally gave in after had researched him on my network, taking a chance and since I have not looked back. Dr. Carrasco is very friendly, funny doctor and has a very positive attitude. Out of the many issues I came with from fear to needing a long-overdue surgery to correct prolapsed organs from my previous overweight problem, not only did he positioned multiple options for the fix, but after careful studies and several meetings, we both agreed and concluded to have the surgery and continue a recovery plan. For any woman ever suffering from incontinence due to childbirth or like me from being overweight all of your life, there are solutions that will improve your quality of life. As a martial artist and an athlete, even after losing the weight, just running lightly or laughing, not to mention if my feet ever felt cold, that would be one of the worst and most traumatizing events, because I couldn't control my incontinence. This always affected my ability to exercise and enjoy life. But after doing the surgery and recovering slowly, I have my life back and I feel young again, not to mention I can do any activity that has kept me 40 lbs. lighter than what I used to be thanks to this correction. Discussing birth control options is one of the easiest conversations with Dr. Carrasco. He's very honest and makes sure that the patient understands the pros and cons. He never rushes the patients and makes sure he allocates time to talk to the patient and when performing an exam, despite the horrible fear that all women go through, Dr. Carrasco makes it enjoyable, believe it or not. Don't get me wrong, I don't like having to sit in a cold room with my legs spread out and having a speculum inside, while a doctor takes samples. No one likes it, but it has to be done and no other doctor provides the care and compassion and the comfort that Dr. Carrasco provides in his practice. The office space is brand new and very well maintained. There's a process that we follow from meeting the intake staff, to finalizing the paperwork that's seamless and orderly. There's never a very long wait, and if there's a need to allocate time to address a patient's concern, Dr. Carrasco will make that time available. His wife shares the office space, and she, too, is a beautiful person. Everything is orderly and professional. I remember the office manager, leading to my surgery, kept in touch with me regarding insurance issues (which is always a problem) and provided payment options when the insurance literally screwed me. They also ALWAYS call and or send you a reminder for your next available appointment, especially when it has to be done more than once a year or for follow ups. All referrals for the services needed outside of the office, such as sonograms are always in excellent facilities that align with Dr. Carrasco's service. He's affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, which is one of the best! The medical staff is actually human and they care about the patients and is very clean. So if you're using Dr. Carrasco's extended services, you will be connected to the very best. I actually saw patients that were coming from overseas, whom were willing to pay cash for all of his services, just to be cared for by Dr. Carrasco. That's what you call loyalty! Seriously, the entire practice is phenomenal. You will find very few doctors out there that care about their patients and make sure they provide quality service from the minute you walk into their practice, like Dr. Carrasco. If you're a person that fears the gynecologist, has had terrible experience, and truly need a humane service to improve your life and maintain your sexual health, then you need to go to Dr. Carrasco. The fact that no one bothered to alert any of the patients shows lack of respect for our time. Poor planning on their end simply means that my quick visit is just a time suck. Literally the BEST doctor I've ever had in my life! The office was modern and clean, very bright and inviting. When I arrived I filled out new patient paperwork. Was informed that a vaginal ultrasound would be done (I liked that). I waited for about 15 minutes and was called for the ultrasound. From there I was taken to my room. The sweetest nurse ever came in. I LOVED her! Didn't get her name, but she looked like me and I was very comfortable with that! She was so neat and sanitary with all the materials she was going to use for my pap and bloodwork. She placed everything in order on a medical pad and didn't poke and prod me when drawing blood, (I have small veins). When Dr. Carrasco entered the room filled with even more amazing energy. Unlike all of the other GYNs I've had, he didn't try to force birth control on me. He was very informative with everything and made me feel completely at ease. He asked me to call if I ever have any concerns and he would call me back. He is perfect, I don't care, I don't care! He lives up to his reviews! read more

In my search for a great ob/gyn, I found Dr. Olaru through the help of Yelp and other health online resources. She did not take my insurance but the office recommended Dr. Carrasco who does. I decided to see him as he had good reviews on healthgrade.com and other health websites and because he was Dr. Olaru's husband hoping that his work matches that of hers. I am so glad I went to him. Dr. Carrasco is awesome! He understood that a male ob/gyn can be uncomfortable for some people and addressed that right away which made me more comfortable. He was very professional, patient and thorough but yet very down to earth and approachable (unlike some other doctors I've been to). He also has a great sense of humor while still being professional which is nice as it takes your mind off of being at the doctor's office (as you can tell I'm not a fan of doctor visits...who is!). His nurse sang praises of him and you can tell that there is a great environment in the office which trickles down to the servicing to the patients. On this note of servicing, the office has one of the best medical receptionist and waiting times I've ever been to. Dr. Carrasco's secretary/receptionist was extremely friendly and very helpful. Also the waiting time is minimal. I've been there twice and waited no longer than 10-15 minutes! I'm surprised no one has recommended him on Yelp yet! read more

Believe it or not I went on yelp to find a GYNECOLOGIST only....I didnt want to go back to my my old gynecologist as she is an obgyn. I lost my infant daughter to SIDS at 2 months of age nearly 3 years ago. So that being said I set of on a quest to go to a gynocologist where I wouldnt be surrounded by pregnant babies in the office. While Dr. Carrasco has a caring manner the hour plus wait every time you make an appointment makes the process almost not worth it. Every time I've called to make an emergency appointment or speak to the doctor about something specific it has been nearly impossible. When needing instructions on a medication I actually had to call a doctor I hadn't seen in years who returned my call before this office. Having been anemic on and off for years I felt I needed more attentive staff and switched to a new practice. I actually called back today to see if I could make a last minute appointment for something next week and was told no one was reachable and they wouldn't take any appointments... not sure what I was thinking. read more

Dr. Carrasco is one in a million!! Let's face it, as a woman it is important to feel comfortable with your OBGYN! He takes his time with his patients and spends time answering your questions without feeling rushed! I really cares about his patients and that was made obvious when he said to call him at any time if I had an emergency of question that required an immediate answer. This is very rare for a MD to offer such a service. The front desk was also very accommodating and was able to call in my prescription which was more complicated b/c I have one of those 90 day mail order pharmacies. **UPDATE**: 9 months later, I still cannot get the office to send my bloodwork to any other offices. I've called many times, signed release forms TWICE, was told my bloodwork would be sent and then I was told that it takes 3 weeks to send blood. This was never mentioned before in the many, many times I called. Also, 9 months later, I have been officially diagnosed with PCOS. I have had to run to various doctors to figure out what was wrong with my health, only to come full circle back to PCOS, which I could have avoided if the doctor did not provide me with false information and spent more time talking to me (i constantly had to wait for him to return my calls) and listening to my case. I'm happy to finally have an answer and a doctor who cares about my health, but, as mentioned below, I highly recommend saving time and energy by going to a different office!! I would like to start off this review by saying that I do like the doctor. He is nice and caring towards his patients and has helped people I know. However, the other doctor in the office and his staff are extremely incompetent and have caused a lot of stress for me. The staff is mean, rude, careless, and the worst staff I've ever encountered in a medical office. Especially when attending a doctor of this nature, I would like to be given a comfortable environment. This is in addition to the HORRENDOUS wait times, which I don't believe any doctor is worth. I went in for a checkup and got blood work done, to which the other doctor called me about a week later to tell me that there was a hormone imbalance in my blood work and he believes it to be PCOS. I am 18 years old, and hearing this was very upsetting for me. I called back the doctor to ask some questions about how I should go about my lifestyle, to which I got an extremely nasty response by the other doctor who told me they could not have a conversation with me until the diagnosis is confirmed by an ultrasound. I asked if the doctor believes it could be anything else then, and she said no. At the time, this was frustrating because I had literally no one to answer my questions besides the internet. However, this was only the beginning of my frustrations. I was in college at the time and asked if I could get the ultrasound done when I get back 2 months later (march to May), which they said was fine. I spent those 2 months doing research, stressing, and dealing with all the problems I had that were characteristic of PCOS and not normal at all. I went in to get the ultrasound 2 months later. The staff was very rude and told me copay is only in cash and sent me to a 7/11, where I was not allowed to take out more than $10. I spent 10 minutes looking for an ATM, found one, came back and told them that the 7/11 does not let you take out enough cash and explained where I found the ATM. She answered rudely, saying she didn't know, even know I didn't care about what she did or didn't know and just wanted her to direct the next patient to the proper location, which I don't think she gave a shit about. After this I went in for the ultrasound, where the technician was very rude (as usual) and commanded me to position myself and do things as a dog (sit, lay down, get up). I got a call 2 days later from the RECEPTIONIST (NOT a doctor) telling me my results were normal. After a long, awkward pause, I explained that I was there because the doctor wanted to confirm that I had PCOS, so what do these results mean. She said she'll look at my charts, where she read me the information I told the doctor about MYSELF when I went in for the original check up. Obviously, not helpful. She said I had a hormone imbalance in my blood, which I was already aware of. She told me I could call the doctor and touch base with him or her. I called the office back 15 minutes later, they were closed, whoever was there took a message asking for the doctor to PLEASE call me back because I just wanted some answers about my body. I called AGAIN the next day to ask again if the doctor could please call me, to find out he is on vacation until Wednesday (this call was on Friday), which of course, the person speaking to me the day previously did not mention. I decided I was done with this office, wanted to go to my old doctor the next day because I was constantly stressed about my body and this office was EXTREMELY incompetent. I called back that day and asked if my documents could be faxed to another office, they asked for my email and told me they would email me a release form to sign. No email. I called then again, asked them please to send it, again nothing. My mother even called and just asked them to please send it because we really need to talk to somebody, and nothing. Tried calling today (Saturday), found out the office is closed until Tuesday. I highly do not recommend this office. read more

Dr. Carrasco is amazing DR. Breaks my heart to see how things have change with the new staff. The new staff is careless. Took a week to receive my prescription however when my payment was process and I had a balance they called right away. I am still waiting for my cultural results. My pharmacy faxed the approval for my b-control on 5-24-18, and I called during the week to remind the staff and nothing. Now my cycle is off and I don't have my b-control pills which I was scheduled to start new package yesterday. I don't think DR. Carrasco is aware of the bad services because he is a great caring doctor. He is my doctor for about 8 yrs and breaks my heart but I don't think I will be back. I can't trust his staff to call me in case of emergency or trust that they actually care. I miss the old staff. They were always on point. Sharon and the other girl (sorry forgot her name) called me every time and my medicine was always on time, they always double check and always was on point. So sad what is happening now. read more

I actually went for the first time last week and needed to come back today...both visits the wait was very reasonable (in and out within an hr) and I had a great experience with each visit. The entire staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. Dr. Carrasco is wonderful. Great sense of humor, attitude and disposition. I am terrified of doctors and procedures; I recently moved to New York by myself, away from my family and every one I knew, I just received my medical insurance and was so mortified when I figured I had a problem, but finding Dr. Carrasco was the best thing that could happen at the moment. He made me feel calm and comfortable and even though I recently freaked out at a relatively simple procedure, he greatly diminished my anxiety after I left that appointment and I would go back in a heartbeat. I've seen both doctors in the practice and I have been happy with both. I have found the office staff to be friendly and helpful. Here's the deal; this is a busy practice so you will wait but they offer after work appointments which I think is great, the doctors are both very good doctors but they aren't going to answer questions you aren't asking and they will take the time to listen when you ask questions without judging. On my most recent visit when it turned out that one doctor didn't take my insurance the office staff made sure I was seen by the other who did. Considering that I had a 6pm appointment on a Wednesday and this meant everyone, staff, doctors, working late I appreciated it. They could have just rescheduled me but instead everyone worked together and I still saw a doctor in a timely fashion. Overall I have been really happy with my experiences here over the past year and a half. I have and will continue to recommend both Dr. Olaru and Dr. Carrasco to my friends who are looking. read more
