Waited total 45 minutes to get in for simple blood test, even though only 3 others waiting. I had to wait because a certain employee was the only one who could type my order in system. And, ...finally here she comes into office with a coworker, from outside, carrying food bags, carrying shopping bags, laughing, walking to and fro to desks, back rooms, across waiting room. I knew immediately I was going to be delayed. Why, they're focused on having a baby shower today. Asked if she was on lunch break, her cohort said no, not on lunch. Woman sees me up in waiting room and as she's walking around, clearly not doing her job, sees me holding paper and says I'll take that. And,...another 20 minutes before she gets to her desk. Asked at front desk for manager phone number from woman who actually was checking people in, agreeing with me. She gives me a phone # for the hospital in Harvey Dialysis lab - WRONG NUMBBER. Yesterday advised I am only here for blood test, not MRI listed. ADVISED THREE OF THEM. Today, receive call to schedule MRI. The utter stupidity, attitude of "I'll get my work done with you after I'm done shopping, laughing, planning baby shower, walking around getting nothing done, ..." is OUTRAGEOUSLY UNPROFESSIONAL. You are either WORKING or on a LUNCH BREAK. Since when did low level employees get the idea that their personal needs are met first, during work hours, even though a PATIENT IS STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT YOU? I advised all of them that I was just both injected with implants and was in severe distress. Did that cause them to do their job? NOPE! read more

Ingalls is now UChicago. I have been loyal to this medical center for over thirty years. I have witnessed many changes; upgrades and improvements to the facility as well as the hiring of more highly qualified specialists. Slowly and carefully dealing with the recent passing of my birth mother, my care team has advised and ordered many tests. Most of us are aware that roots run deep. My mom suffered with heart issues and one of those issues caused her death. I arrived early for my bloodwork and EKG. I have two follow up appointments next week and will keep you posted. Everyone is always so nice and professional. They take really good care in making me comfortable knowing my fear of needles. There is one thing that recently disappointed me. That is finding out that my primary care physician is retiring at the end of this month. Something I was not aware of. The receptionist kept stating that a letter was supposed to be mailed out. I'm happy I will get to see her next week, say goodbye and wish her well. read more

Went in (round 11pm) with what I found out from the urgent care center I went to 2 days after going to this one with influenza A and a bacterial infection. Not a lot of people there. Long long wait. They ran many (odd) tests and bruised up my arm with attempts to over IV me and draw blood. Took a week for that to clear up. Told me they could not give me meds and sent me home same day with Flonase. Got home. Threw up. Fell backwards. Crazy coughing. Heavy lungs. Tried to tough it out but breathing was becoming difficult. Had my sister take me to a different urgent care and they immediately found very low sodium and influenza A and a bacterial infection. Gave me meds and a sodium IV drip and I Stayed overnight. I Felt much much better. I would have died if I went another day. No joke. That's really bad service. The quality of the care is dangerous. Terrible wait to get checked in at 3pm. Absolutely crazy crowded. But Vicki was a terrific nurse, took fantastic care of my 2 sick autistic kids... one with strep and one with flu and strep. She explained the prescriptions and the things she wants me to do at home and even called the next day to follow up! I hope you have time to wait because your going to be there forever. I came in with symptoms of a bad headache difficulty swallowing and I previously was nauseous. I waited patiently for 5 hrs and finally it was time to go to the back where ever doctor focused on the fact that I was nauseous so they came up with diagnosis that I was pregnant even though the labs said negative. This by far the worst place I have went to. I usually have great reviews but today was not one I arrived at 1150 to be see for fever, body aches, COVID and flu test to make sure I am not passing it along to my family . I was turned away for a gsw to the foot. Mind you the police had left little after 115 so the threat was no longer present. The patient left around 130 so where was the threat that stopped them from seeing patients. I was told the lockdown would be over at two when I called into the er so I waited . I was to sick to leave and drive else where so I waited . Two am came security's says they said they are still on lockdown u til 3am. That is by far the worst treatment ever. i pray they learn the proper protocol for hew because it's lifted after the police and patient leaves. I went to this Urgent care today to receive a Covid test due to the fact I had contact with someone who tested positive, I have been here for almost 3 hours just to receive my results which I was told it would take like 20 mins for results. I asked if results could be emailed but was told they are unable to do that & I would have to wait for results. I checked in at 9:19 it is now 11:52 as I am writing this. I felt really uncomfortable in the waiting room due to other patients coming in with flu like symptoms and no one was getting called back meanwhile everyone is in the waiting room coughing and spreading germs. Something really needs to change here or just shut the place down because the wait time is ridiculous especially if you're coming in for the most simplest thing. read more

The care I received was very good. It is a good facility. However, the Ingalls organization determines that any facility no matter how far from the hospital is considered a hospital. Therefore, I was billed for a copay for an ER visit and not an urgent care facility. A difference of $100. They call it urgent care but greed prevails with this hospital group, which btw is owned by University of Chicago. I fought the charge and lost. Went with another network. The picture of the entrance says Urgent Care, not emergency room. I think that says it all. I took that picture as part of my evidence against Ingalls. Wow! The wait in the Lab is RIDICULOUS! It makes NO SENSE that folks have to sit and wait past 30 minutes for BLOOD WORK! This is absurd! They don't care about the elderly or people that may be really ill! We have been waiting since 3:30 and it's almost 5PM! An elderly lady inquired about when she is going to be served. The front desk staff mentioned that it was ONLY ONE LAB TECH! One LAB TECH DRAWING BLOOD! FOR Christ's sakes! Where is the supervision? Why should people have to sit and WAIT LIKE THIS! Clearly, the system is NOT WORKING! ONE TECH DRAWING BLOOD! THIS IS BEYOND CRAZY! No wonder the tech that is calling the patient's to the back has an attitude! I don't BLAME HER! I went to Ingalls Family Care Center in Flossmoor last night for diagnosis of ominous-looking symptoms concerning a swollen leg. I was treated very well by all working on the early evening shift last night. I did need a doppler and an appointment was made at the Harvey campus by the Flossmoor healthcare personnel. Due to the hour (between 9 and 10 p.m.) I had to go through the Harvey campus' ER which was very busy at the time. The doppler was done very well and I received a diagnosis and treatment suggestions, given by the Flossmoor doctor via cell phone, while I was still in the Harvey ultrasound department. Note: the ultrasound department is a great one as is the treating doctor in Flossmoor who was on duty last night. There is a security person with whom patients need to check in at Flossmoor, and then the names are given to the intake personnel from the hospital. This may be typical for the evening shift, or perhaps this is done for all shifts. Not sure, but this seems to be a new addition to this urgent aid facility. I was given a bill for my end of the payment while I was still in a treating area and prompted nicely to take care of it financially after I was released (or in my case sent to another hospital for further treatment). I of course did this. This is efficient but probably needs some fine-tuning about the timing of when to present a patient with a bill. Just a suggestion! read more

The medical technicians are all first rate. Phlebotomists are efficient. I am stuck painlessly. A very special shout-out goes to YOLANDA who today performed my electrocardiogram. Noticing my interest in the screen, she explained not just what I was looking at, but how the sum total of heart parts worked in tandem. I nearly wanted to call her Doctor Yolanda. Excellent. In the Outpatient Registration area, the friendly woman with the long red ponytail pinch hits to make patients visits easier. Today she pushed a wheelchair to a patient's destination. Just as helpful today was Artis the radiology tech. He notices everything, and when he saw me looking for my cardiologist's office he led the way. He is a kind man who hustles to get everything done. Without going into detail, a star was lost due to the inattentive people who check patients in. Never have I noted any to go beyond their job descriptions. It is a way to get a paycheck I guess. The ones who matter are to be counted upon to give it their all. read more

They never examined my throat or looked in my damn ear. I went to my primary care provider the next day to get a second opinion. Walked in to the Urgent Care and was amazed to see the waiting room was empty. Thought things would go smoothly. Boy was I wrong!!! The receptionist was VERY rude! Never greeted us nor stated that anyone was ahead of us and to have a seat. Waited for about 15 minutes walked up to desk and she had the nerve to tell me she was taking care of another patient ... um ok, where was that patient??!!?? Even this happened over a year ago its is still noteworthy so I will reply. My daughter was in incredible pain. Suggested a CT scan to be done. Because of pain level, we both felt this was in order. However, there was nothing that we did not newly discover and no pain medication was given. Just "take OTC pain meds." OK Now the Big issue was the bill She was charged almost $4,000 for the CT scan alone. OUTRAGEOUS!.She was not given any meds for pain, and at least someone could have mentioned that they would be charging the same as a hospital cost for this procedure. Tried in vain to get them to listen to the reality of what they are doing to the consumers who go there. This fell on deaf ears. Totally disappointed! Take note. this is the second time I have been there with family members, and their physicians are not close to the emergency care that you would receive at the University of Chicago!! This facility has proven not any option for anyone to go to. Even if you have insurance their billing practices make you feel totally being taken advantage of and to top if off the Univ of Chicago is taking them under their umbrella. Well, this place on Governors has a very long way to go, to prove itself worthy of being affiliated with one of the most prestigious health care facilities in the world. I am a physician who accompanied my elderly neighbor for a visit at the Ingalls urgent aid center in Flossmoor. Both labs and a chest x-ray were performed and we waited to get the results. We were at the center for five hours and after numerous inquiries as to how much longer until the results would be available, a nurse came in and said that Dr. Schmidt is discharging my neighbor. I inquired as to what were the results and was informed that the results can be found online. The only instructions that we received was to follow up with her primary care physician. I requested to speak with the physician to find out the results and even told the nurse that I am also a physician. The nurse came back in the room and said that the doctor is unable to come in and simply stated once again that we should follow up with her primary care physician. I insisted on receiving copies of the results and after reviewing the documents, I saw that there were several abnormalities including a radiology request for additional imaging. The doctor also prescribed antibiotics but at no time did he feel it was important to come in and explain what he was treating. In addition, there were no instructions given to my neighbor in regards to care of her lower extremity ulceration. After being at the center for five hours, we left without any explanation for her symptoms or explanation of what had been excluded. As a physician who has practiced for 33 years, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of communication even when requesting to speak with the doctor. I can only imagine that if my elderly neighbor had gone to the visit unaccompanied, she would've never realized the importance of follow up. It is certainly conceivable that she would have completed the course of antibiotics and found it unnecessary to have a follow up in which case the additional imaging might never have been performed. Upon leaving, I noticed the physician sitting behind the desk, obviously too busy to come into the room and explain the diagnosis and treatment! read more

This place is a bait n switch. I used their service for an ear infection. I had been a patient many many times in the past when it was an Urgent Care. As I arrived there was no visible changes to the sign outside and as I entered I was given paperwork to sign (I did not read the fine print). As I was directed to go to one of the Dr's cubicles the Dr greeted me in the hallway and made a joke about my height. Next the nurse took my vitals and then directed a nurse assistant to prepare a solution to drain my ear of wax. Next one of the receptionist came in and told me I had a $500 co pay. Since it was no longer an Urgent Care but a hospital. Dr never returned, ear never healed, and I was left with a $500 bill. This place is the worse! I've been here for 2.5 hours and still haven't seen the doctor. I thought I was saving time so my son can be seen and we can get on the road to go home, which is 1.5 hours away and in another time zone. The nurse saw us 25 mins ago and nothing since. DO NOT GO HERE!!! My complaint is not with the medical care but with the unbelievably inept front desk staff and the billing process! I went earlier this year because I was visiting my parents in the area and thought I had bronchitis...My husband and I arrived late on a weekday morning and I was asked for my insurance card, which the woman at the front desk spent considerable time copying. I met with a doctor for 15 minutes and had no lab tests, no x-rays. He gave me a couple of prescriptions (which I filled in the pharmacy and paid for). Flash forward to four months later, I get a bill for $300-- apparently, they had not billed my insurance company. So, I had to write to my insurance company-- they said no one had billed them-- and to the billing organization (different than the actual facility) to AGAIN provide them with my billing information. Ok, that finally got resolved and I wound up paying $126 out of pocket (I know, my insurance isn't the best, but it's what I can afford). Today I got a bill in the mail from Ingalls itself-- $828!!!!!!! No itemization of how they got to that princely sum and once again, they did not bill my insurance company. Mind you, this invoice comes SIX MONTHS after I received treatment. I mean, are you kidding?? So, I just wrote to Ingalls and am also snail mailing them all of my insurance information. This is exactly why American health care gets such a bad name. Because they just want to stick it to you every which way and they can't even be bothered to do their jobs!! I wish I had the name of the idiot that was working intake that day. She probably doesn't ever bill anyone's insurance so I can't believe I am the only one who has experienced this nightmare. Went to "urgent care" with a rather benign issue. After quick care, I was informed my urgent care copay was not applicable as they are considered an emergency facility. The result was a $350 copay compared to $75. Sorry for assuming what's advertised and listed on my insurance card would match. I signed highlighted lines on documents upon arrival as is standard, not knowing I was agreeing to be grossly overcharged. :( read more

While I usually have pleasant experiences and short wait times I am very frustrated that I took my son there to be treated for breathing problems and a cold which turned out to be bronchitis. The doctor asked me what pharmacy i would like prescriptions sent to and i told him. As we are getting discharged the nurse goes over the prescriptions and hands me some scripts, so I ask her if they have already been sent. She looks it up and says yes to the 24 hr Walgreens in Olympia Fields. Fast forward to now I call to see if they are ready and there is no record of any meds there. I call Ingalls and they don't even have a record of the meds that were prescribed! How does that happen?!? Why do I now have to take my sick and wheezing son to sit in the drive-thru for who knows how long (because there is ALWAYS a line) to even see if they can fill it right then or Ill have to drop it off and then take him out AGAIN to pick it up! I have been seeing Dr. Hammeeduddin for more than 20 yrs. Excellent physician with Genuine concern and great bedside manner. My problems started on February 18, 2016, I ran into several problems with Office Staff. At the end of my visit, I did not receive any summary or lab paperwork. Staff told me, " It will be mailed." Two weeks passed , my husband , who also went to office the same day, his lab work came in the mail. I called the office requesting my summary n lab request. Short version: Gloria, the office manager, explained - that is not the procedure to send MD summary! She assured me she would send labs n written office visit summary per my request. I received the summary w no labs. I was told lab paper not needed because in the system! Not so- lab not in system.!!!!!!!!!!! I return to Office and got my lab paperwork. This has been 3 visits to get labs done. When my physician retire, I WILL NOT RETURN back to this unprofessional and ill run office! read more

I couldn't get a quick appointment with a skin specialist so I went to the Emergency Room at Ingalls Family Care, Flossmoor. It was a terrible experience and I don't say this lightly. The nurse was loud-mouthed, rude, and treated me as if she were herding cattle. No courtesy or professionalism. The doctor was cordial, but he misdiagnosed my skin condition which I found out later. He gave me a 10-day script for an antiobiotic and two other meds. On the way out I asked the rude nurse if physical therapy on the leg might aggravate the skin conditon and she looked at me as if I were nuts and almost shouted, "What do you mean, physical exercise is good for you!" I then asked the doctor who said, "DO NOT continue physical therapy or any vigorous exercise until the skin problem is gone." Then...to top it off Ingalls told me to follow up with an INTERNIST. But I had a skin problem. Luckily, I got a cancelled appointment with a skin specialist 3 days later after taking the meds prescribed by the Emergency Room doctor and was told that I had a totally different skin conditon and to stop taking the wrong meds prescribed by Ingalls. Imagine: if I hadn't been lucky to get to a skin doctor, I'd have taken 3 medications I did not need. We are overusing antiobiotics so taking this wrong Rx of antiobiotics would be one more dose of assault on my body. And when the time comes when I really need an antiobiotic, it may not be as effective or not at all. Long story, but these are the details that make me give Ingalls Family Care, Flossmoor a ZERO rating. DO NOT GO THERE. I should have gone to the main Ingalls Hospital in Harvey. Maybe it would have been accurate in diagnosis and attitidue on the part of the nursing staff. But maybe not. read more

Worst service ever!!!!! Got sent home from work for a possible allergic rash break out that cracked my skin and caused me to bleed. By the time I got in the rash was just about gone and the doctor I saw was rude and scoffed like I was wasting his time saying nothing was wrong with me. This place will be my last resort. Was referred by my mother in law. Got there and registration was fast. Front desk was very nice. Was there for an emergency with my 1 year old. Waiting in the waiting area for 2 hours then was finally called to the back where I waited another 2 hours. NO one came in to check on us. I had to pull a nurse aside and ask what was going on and she responded very rudely. The Doctor was nice but if it wasn't for the concerns I had I would have walked out.
