I recently moved from Phoenix, AZ which is a high cost of living area to Spartanburg SC. Ive been to Ingles a few times and each time the prices we're extremely high. Chicken is is priced at almost $5.00 a pound where its usually close to $3.00 a pound at other places. Ground beef is also overly priced. An inexpensive frozen pizza (Red Baron) priced at $4.88 at Walmart sells for $6.98 at Ingles. They could buy it at Walmart and sell it at their store for 26% mark up. Even with their Ingles card, you dont save much money. read more

Having just moved to town, I've been going here because it's close to my house. However, I'm now looking for a better store because most times I go in, their produce area is terrible. It looks like it's been on the shelf too long and should be thrown out. And that's when it even has anything on the shelf. They don't stock until after 9AM. They're also just too small a store and don't have a good selection of organic foods. read more

Right off of i26, the location is super convenient. We stopped for gas and a quick bite for lunch. They have so many choices. The Starbucks there was such a waste of time, with repeated order confirmations and an incorrect order. The lunch options for food were abundant though! They had pressed sushi, pizza made to order, fried chicken basket meals, Chinese food, and freshly cut and made cold cut sandwiches. They sell boars head and they're not afraid to pile in the meat and toppings. Great sandwich! read more

Never had an issue with this store until today. I'm a caregiver and had to take my client to this location. He was getting a couple lottery tickets and the lady (her name was Teresa) behind the counter I believe she's an assistant manager or so, was very impatient and rude for no reason. I'm not the type to complain because I understand people have bad days but there was no reason to act so bitter. Please do better Teresa! read more

I would not recommend that anyone use this store. A friend of mine was assaulted in this store. The night manager, Colton W. saw the attack told the attacker to leave the store. The store does not have adequate camera protection and they will not even pay for the hundreds of dollars of medical bills that have to be paid. The store manager does not seem to care and wasn't very helpful. My friend was taken to the ER by EMS and needed MRI, cosmetic surgeon, dental work, etc. Not even a kind word, the corporate office told him it was not responsible for any costs. Shop somewhere else if you care about your safety. This happened at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night.....shame...shame. read more

Never really have a problem at any other Ingles, but this one. They said I couldn't cash my FedEx check because people use fraudulent checks. I don't know if I was profiled or not but literally went to a different Ingles and they cashed it. read more

Best choice of gluten-free foods in the city if you are celiac or gluten-free! All else is average to above average for a grocery store.

Overall its a great store but the Deli is disappointing. The food is never fresh or prepped so when they run out of food you'll be waiting a while for them to refill anything. I went around lunch time, which I assumed they'd have more options, but I guess not. read more

This is my regular store the special on the flowers the groceries the seafood market all are great. But today for the first time I try to chicken breast fried $1.19. It's just as good as Bojangles or Wade's. I would never have thought that it was gonna be this good or fresh but it is. read more

This review is for the Starbucks. On Sunday evening January 30, 2022 around 5:30 pm .I approached the Starbucks with nobody in line and one person waiting for their drink. As I waited at the register to order the two young ladies working in the Starbucks we're having a personal conversation. They glanced over at me didn't acknowledge me or greet me and continued with their loud conversation laughing and continuing to talk. After standing there for awhile I began to wonder if Starbucks was open and maybe they were just back there cleaning or finishing up. The lights and signs indicated they were in fact open so I stood there continuing to wait. After about 3-4 minutes they paused their talking enough to take my order. Then as one girl made the drink the other one began the yell " oh there's something in my eye " and asked the other girl making drinks to stop and get the particle out of her eye. She stopped making drinks pulled down her mask and began to blow in her coworkers eye . This is happening while making drinks in the middle of a pandemic. She said oh it's not coming out then she started to use her finger to help get the particle out of her coworkers eye. Finally the particle was out of her coworkers eye and she continued back to making drinks. She didn't wash her hands. After being disgusted I took my drink and just threw it away. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. These two should not be anywhere near food and drink prep. I will be reporting this health code violation. read more

Shelf prices are much lower than the prices that appear on the check out register. Foods are often past expiration date. Fresh produce is beautiful on top of the container, but rotten on bottom. Yesterday, I bought cooked shrimp and was very sick shortly thereafter. I gave some to my dog while I age, and he is also very sick. read more

We have been shopping at this and the Duncan Ingles for 6 years. These stores have gone downhill. Today's shop included a 2# bag of carrots we needed for a carrot cake. At 9pm we opened them to find most of the bag was rotten and slimy. Have had the same problem with Strawberries even though they look nice. Many rotten. Their Deli's are sloppy, their help has no customer service training. Lunchmeat is sliced and haphazardly thrown into a pile and shoved in a bag which many times, the zip lock is broken by the time I get it home. It appears INGLES MARKETS has NO Corporate management oversight of their stores. Stay away. It is not worth it for the minimal gas savings when they sell you rotten food. Check their prices: They have risen significantly but what hasn't. However, "other" stores nearby have had Melons which were nicer and $2 less per melon. read more

Avoid this Ingles store if you can!! First off I would like to state that I hate giving a negative review. I first heard of Ingles when I moved to Brevard N.C. and I loved that store!! They were so clean, friendly, helpful. I was absolutely spoiled there. I moved to Inman and thought I would try Ingles in Spartanburg assuming it was the same as my Brevard store. Wrong! Haha. It's absolutely filthy inside, the cafe floor is always covered in food, dirt and some grimy unknown substance. Every time I've been inside the restrooms it's recently been mopped but not clean. I think they just throw some water on the floor and call it a day. There is hair, dirt and muddy footprints everywhere. I'd say it's slightly better than a port-a-potty at the fair, but I'm not making any promises. Let's talk staff... well they walk around like zombies with b-face just waiting for their shift to be up. With the exception of the meat department area, they are pretty friendly. Don't dare ask one of them where something is, I got the "I dunno" as she continued walking away. During checkout they are too busy talking and joking amongst themselves to acknowledge you and when they do their whole face changes like you're inconveniencing them. I stood at the deli/food area where you pay for food that you buy for the cafe for a good twenty minutes today. They saw me and just kept doing other things and looking away, not one acknowledged or said anything to me, I started to think I was in the wrong spot to pay. Eventually someone came over very annoyed that I had bothered them. This also happens at the Starbucks inside. These kids don't like to be bothered, doesn't matter how nice you are. The lines at the register are horrible! I thought maybe I just came a few times when it was bad.. it's every time! I was in line from the register all the way to the freezer section, 27 minutes later(I timed it) it was my turn. The girl was not amused, she didn't greet me nor did she say anything when I greeted her. I'm used to my Ingles having all the lines open and it being a quick in and out, they had three registers open and it's Saturday. Also, I ended up having to throw away all the fruits and vegetables I bought away because she threw my raw leaking chicken on top of them instead of separating the meat and the fruit into separate bags. Oh Ingles, what decade are you living in? The check out process here is difficult. To get the sale price on anything you need their Ingles card, its free but if you dont have it on hand, they have to look up the card number. Now you think you'll just read off your phone number at the register but no, the attendant has to walk to customer service and search over there which is so awkward and takes an extra few minutes. Do yourself a favor and save the account number on your phone and read it off to the cashier if you can't bear to save their card in your wallet (like me). Besides this, the prices on most items are higher than other stores. I want to purchase their frozen meals for my workplace but its 50 cent to $1 more per item. I called to ask if they price match and the manager told me no. Oh well, you can still go here as a quick stop for a salad bar, florals, produce, etc. Hope they make some changes soon because its a rough grocery world out there! read more

Let me start by saying this review is specific to the #204 store on Hwy #29 (8004 Warren H Abernathy Hwy). I have had much better results with other Ingles such as the one on Hwy #290 in Duncan (store #93 according to the store lookup function of the Ingles website). Unfortunately it is not, nor does it claim to be a 24hr store. Because of my work hours I need a store open in the evening and often into the morning hours. More about that and the confusing advertised hours of operation for store #204 later. To be clear, I am not a disgruntled employee as I have never worked for Ingles. I was an avid consumer at Ingles to the tune ~$5-6k per year for many years but I have finally had enough of the abuse and total lack of concern for their customers. Lately they have been hiring very rude managers (or perhaps they have been on the payroll and I'm just now getting the displeasure of meeting them), and have been keeping some odd hours. I can put up with the rudeness, but the odd hours and how they handle the times that they are closed is unacceptable. If you visit the store you will see a plaque that list store hours as 7am-11pm, if you ask the employees the business hours you are told that they are only closed from midnight Saturday Night/Sunday morning until 6am Sunday morning, but If you visit the Ingles website you will see that the are listed as a 24 hr store (and I am writing Ingles to make sure their false advertisement is corrected). As it was tonight and often has been so many times (even before their 3rd or 4th remodeling project) you have to drive up to the store, get out of you car and walk to the door and attempt to enter the store. Its a crapshoot as to whether you get in. Again turning off the main Ingles light would let potential customers know you were not open for business at this time, and also save money on power that makes it back indirectly to the cost of products purchased there. The answer I was given (and in a very rude tone with a grimace expression) was that leaving all the lights on was for safety reasons. This is not an intelligent answer. If you are concerned about the safety of your employees (can't be customers as you don't allow them in), then you can have them part on one side of the building near the door (which most do and have ample light as the street lights stay on independent of the large Ingles sign) .Additionally if you are truly concerned about the safety of your employees. install a few parking lot cameras. Take a lesson from Walmart. If you installed 1/16 of the cameras they have outside you would have ample coverage. To summarize, I am no longer doing business with this Ingles (store #204) after many years as their lack of professionalism is appalling. And make sure you turn the gallons milk jugs on their edge and squeeze. The lids are often not on correctly and they leak :) Yes that is my only real complaint with their products besides slightly higher prices than Walmart... I would in the past pay a slight premium as the store is close and is supposed to be open 24 hrs. read more

There's a Starbucks inside the store, and they have everyone you could want. The wine and beer selection is great!

In store Starbucks and a great selection of food and groceries. Gas station out front makes it a good stop for a road trip.

The deli dept is very slow to complete orders. The 2x1 are spread through the whole store. Publix is much better cleaner and cheaper.

I WAS a regular customer. I loved this place, fresh seafood, organic foods, natural health care products. Now I only come here if it is something i cant get anywhere else. It is because of an incident one Monday morning. I went in at 6 am after finishing a long third shift work day. I attempted to purchase a case of beer. I was told "it is still technically Sunday" and i could not purchase it until 7 am when the registers changed over. I stated that IT WAS IN FACT MONDAY, and that the law says beer and wine can be sold 24 hours a day except Sunday, and requested to purchase the beer.I was treated like a hood rat when a manager yelled from over the barricade In the front of the store IM CANCELLING THE SALE, IM REFUSING TO SELL TO YOU! "refusing to sell" i thought, that makes no sense, there is no reason for the sale to be refused, like for example being visibly drunk, or was fighting or something. In fact Ingles actually refused the sale first by not knowing what day it was, not knowing the law, and by not knowing good business practice. I only pointed out that it was not still Sunday, what the law says and i got that response from the manager. I yelled profanities at the moron as i left. I bet if I was middle aged and middle class, I would have been treated better, but this guy stereotyped me as some lowlife who he could treat like crap when I questioned his "authority" Actually it was more like questioning their knowledge of what day it is. I emailed corporate and did not even get a response. I have had this "no beer sales until 7am on Monday" lie spouted to me at the local Wal Marts also. I don't know why all these stores are misinformed about alcohol sales times. Most of the time the cashiers at Wal mart just ring me up, thankfully. It makes sense: They dont get paid enough to care about what a lying, misinformed manager says, so a "oh dont sell beer today until 7" warning goes in one ear and out the other. It works out for the intelligent people like me though. Apparently few people in Spartanburg know how to read a calendar. Must be the fluoride in the water and the public schools. read more
