Placed an order for our monthly home supply. Was shocked when I went to pickup order and order not ready. Was told they were out of several items but would have today. Stated I would pickup total order today. Even went through what time would be good time for return. Shocked to arrive that nothing was ready. Again items missing told they didn't know about order. I was terribly upset by the person behind the counter. In fact this person said for me to leave Tate's didn't need my business. I purchased the items that was gathered by other employees and left. I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering in advance but it seems like it was a waste of my time. The biggest problem is communication between employees. Every employee stated they didn't know anything about my order. Not one person apologized. I'm happy Tate's is doing so well. I will drive to Greenville for a meat market. 6/18 owner called me to say "don't come back". Just like other reviews, great meat but not worth employees attitude. Two stars since the meat does look incredible. 1 star since the customer service has been poor and dismissive. Called three times over the past few weeks to order a Berkshire pork roast for Christmas. 1st time I was told, no problem, call back in a week and we'll order it. The next two times I called back it seemed they had forgotten I'd called. But said they would call me back to let me know when they could get it. I ended up going into the store, and the gentlemen said he would get it tomorrow and he would call when it was in. This was two days ago, and I still don't have a call back. I'm a bit upset the service has been so poor because the meat looks awesome and I've heard good things, but I've had to find another go to butcher. read more

I will become a vegetarian before I go back to Tate's. Whoever the older man is he needs a lesson in customer service. I came in telling him I was told we had an order ready. When I gave him my name he went and looked, coming back and saying he had nothing. I told him I just got the message form my wife. Again he went away and came back with same answer, "we have no order for you." I said it was placed yesterday by my son. He then said "are you giving me attitude?" Since I was in a public place and not wanting to tell him what I thought of him I called my son. He said he placed the order yesterday over my speaker phone. Dude took our order and then gave me "I was not here yesterday" as an excuse (I guess that is what it was to him). To cap it off there is a big religious picture on the wall with a reference to Matthew. Again, if you want good meat, go here. Came in last week to stock up on meat for the week, and while checking out was asked if I was using Debit or credit. Told them I was using debit, and left the building to a working chasing us outside yelling, "IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE CREDIT THEN LET US KNOW." I then went back into the business to show him that the four digits on my debit card matched the receipt. The worker inside then proceeded to yell at me in front of other customers. Instead of owning up to the fact that HE messed up he contoured to belittle me. I then left a review on their facebook, but they ended up blocking me instead of fixing the problem. I have been shopping at Tate's since they were in their original location. On May 3, 2023, I purchased three tenderloins and two ribeyes, all prime and all two inches plus thick. These were for a Mother's Day dinner for my wife's mom. The bill total was well over $200.00. As usual, the tenderloins were perfect, but the ribeyes were tough and very little of them were eaten. Actually, they were thin sliced at a later date and sauteed for cheese steak sandwiches. I came by Tate's on Thursday May 18, 2023 to let them know about the problem, bought three more filets and left my number for Grant Tate to call so I could let him know about the problem. I was concerned that a supplier might have sent them some lower quality meat. After being assured that he would call, I never heard from Mr. Tate. I am very disappointed about their lack of response. read more

Wanted to have a special meal at home and gave this place a try. They have beef, chicken, pork, some seafood, and a few pre-made selections. Their steaks are prime grade and all look really good. Prices are reasonable for these cuts of meat. We tried the wagyu tri-tip and pre-made lobster bisque. The bisque was very good, and when seasoned to my taste, was awesome. I added some fresh black pepper and a little bit of sherry to get a rich taste that I love. The wagyu was amazing. This was a 2.74 pound piece of meat, so we divided it in half and froze the rest for another day. We seasoned with salt and pepper and Worcestershire, and let it rest for about twenty minutes at room temperature. We then seared it on a cast iron skillet and then let it roast on a low heat for about 15 minutes. It came out perfectly medium rare, without any noticeable fat still on the meat. The owner was very helpful and friendly. For a Saturday afternoon, the place was very much hopping. I will definitely come back. read more

My husband and I went in today looking for something to throw on the grill. A man who I'm guessing was the owner asked us what we were looking for and started pulling stuff out of the cooler to show us. He said he has been in the meat market for 25 years. At Tates They have a little bit of EVERYTHING , but we ended up purchasing a bone in ribeye that was thicker than any I've ever seen! He said that if we weren't fully happy with it that we could bring it back in exchange for anything else. No need for that. It was delicious. The selection of meats is amazing, we had the cowboy steaks for dinner tonight and they were the all time best steaks I've had in my life. Found this place just driving by this last Saturday. Wow is all I can say. I love to cook and I was craving a great pressure cooker pot roast. I purchased a 2.5 lb cut of chuck roast and it was absolutely the best I've ever had and the price was even better. I'll definitely be back to try the steaks, they look amazing.
