"Ingles" is how you say "English" in Spanish, right? We came in here for provisions- they have an ample produce section, but I couldn't believe some of these produce prices! 97 cents for a lime? Seriously?! Whoa. The aisles were big and wide, and some of them had slightly wavy aspects to the shelves. However, even with the super wide aisles, they still had one-way signs on the aisles, like that stopped anyone from doing anything. I was happy to see that they had a deep selection of local foods! They had a variety of Cackalack Carolina BBQ sauce, which I enjoyed! This store also has a pretty big alcohol selection! They had a vast array of local craft beers from the area, and across the state. They offered a bunch of single beers, and variety packs which is perfect if you're just looking to get a sampling. Their wine selection also included a North Carolina section, which I was happy to check out! They offered other services, like rug doctors and ice and such. Their deli was pretty big, as was the bakery. I was blown away by some of the prices they charge on their produce, but their selections of products that I'd never seen before made up for the high prices. In order to get the best prices, you have to fill out a membership card, which is sort of a pain. If you opt out of the card, prices can go up more than 15%. read more

The store is awesome as far at what is offered. However, from out of town, so no rewards card- means no discount or sale price. all other stores I know use the cards for all customers. But that's not even the biggest issue. Where are the grown mature adults? There were about 7-8 young people hanging around, all wearing ingles clothing so I know they were employees: play fighting, talking loudly, even while ringing us up. One girl even said she wasn't taught how to bag groceries and didn't know what she was doing. It took a total of 4 employees at one register to get us checked out. read more

I really hate Ingles. I went in to get something from the deli and I asked could I get rice along with my vegetables I picked out. The girl says no because they can't combine the second section selections with the main menu as in meat and vegetables. That does not make sense. For God's sakes it is food. It is out to be sold so I don't know why it can't be a selection too. They are also expensive as the Dickens. The ONLY reason I shop here is because the other groceries are farther away from my home. This is my annual trip to Ingles, and we always find what we need at a fair price for the mountains. The selection of fruits were great for our needs, and their deli meats and cheeses made for great sandwiches. The inside of the store was clean and the aisles were not cluttered. We did need to use their restrooms while we were there, and the Starbucks employee let us know they were in the back right area of the store because we didn't see any signs. The restrooms had four stalls, but only one was operational. We heard from employees that anytime there's an issue in the men's bathroom that it backs up into the women's and that is why it was closed. Only a small wait time later, and we were out the door, bathroom crises averted, and on our way to our final destination. read more

I absolutely love the Walmart delivery service. It's super easy. I attempted to use Ingals curbside pick up because they carry Boars Head deli meat. I had nothing but confusion! I called the store and spoke with a "curbside " associate. His exact statement " its definitely not user friendly. I can't tell you how many people call trying to get help and I can't help them. Huge grocery, and across from Publix (we shop both when we're at the Maggie Valley property) so I can shop smart - sales (Ingles) and BOGO (Publix). Ingles bakery is superior to Publix - I know this is shocking, but you're not in Lakeland anymore, Toto. Their prices are competitive IF you shop the sales, but then you have to go across the street. Many of the prices are shockingly high, to the point I stop and check other apps to make sure there's not a shortage or something apocalyptic happening that I wasn't aware of. But again, the bakery is great-especially the locally sourced Sourdough. The store is clean, and mostly well stocked. The kicker, which brought the stars down... the employees are miserable. I mean, terribly sad. Frowns everywhere - except for one very sweet older lady at the cash register. But the rest seemingly loathe being there. I don't dare ask for help, and that's if you can even find an employee nearby. If I can't find it myself, I buy it elsewhere. There's a Starburnt Coffee inside for people who have no taste. Went to the pharmacy to drop off a prescription for 15 Ativan tablets for a friend that has her mother literally dying in her home. Hospice thinks it will be in the next several days.... needless to say I show up 8 mins til closing time & tell the pharmacist the situation and tell her she could really use it tonight because of her stress level. Her doctor literally went back into the office to get her the prescription so it was hot off the press or I would have had it filled earlier. Long story short, no one was waiting at the pharmacy, I explained what was going on and the pharmacist and she didn't even flinch.... just said it will be ready tomorrow morning. I said she could really use it tonight, again. But, she didn't care. Where is the compassion these day. I worked in pharmacy for 10 years, it would have taken 3 mins to fill the prescription with 15 pills. Very disappointed! Healthcare isn't what it used to to be! read more

This was my first time in an Ingles and I was really impressed. One thing I love about going out of town is trying things that I don't have in my area, and sometimes that thing is a grocery store. Ingles seemed like every other grocery store, but once I got inside, I realized I was mistaken. First off, this store is enormous! Off to the side is their deli, hoagie and pizza area ( the pizza is what I ended up with). But I took a look around and browsed the entire store. Everything was neat, organized and seemed to be well-stocked. They had a nice mix of "higher-end" brands, sort of marrying a Whole Food and a Publix in some ways. I thought the staff was very nice and helpful. And getting waited on/checked out was a breeze. If we had these in South Florida, Publix would have a run for their money, that's for sure because I did love my trip to Ingles. read more

I shop at Ingles at least twice a week. I have recently moved my prescriptions to the pharmacy after my local Rx closed. The managers are friendly and helpful in the Hazelwood store and tonight I got the best fried chicken at the deli! Beats the Colonel at half the price. I have no complaints. read more

I was in the Drive Thru window for the pharmacy to pick up my Medications. I was the third car back and everything was normal. Both cars ahead of me received their prescriptions and drove away. I pulled up to the window to pick up my meds and all of a sudden the lights went out and they were already closing the gates up front. I pushed the button and a pharmacy lady came over and stated they were closed. I tatted that I was in line before they closed and she clearly saw me behind the last vehicle she served and handed meds to. I then explained I really needed my medications and I was indeed in line before closing: the pharmacy tech looked me straight in the face and said well, we are still closed and you will just have to come back tomorrow to get your medications and walked off. The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a pharmacy. This is the last prescription that ingles fills of my family's, I promise you that. read more

Yeah, I'm back. I had been meaning to update the world about my latest Ingles Pharmacy experiences; it was light fodder, but it is now a heavy trip, man. OK, firstly, my husband- F.- stated to me that I do not understand how stock is ordered (re: previous update). Whatever, dude. But I am noting that here in case that fact is true. You know what, though? It is still crazy there. Look: 1. I needed my daughter's med early, so I renewed her prescription two weeks before she was out. It was not available. 2. Renewed by phone. Not ready when we tried to obtain it. Had to come back after the weekend. 3. Renewed by phone, but had to be picked up the day after pick up attempt. It can be exasperating. F. got his flu shot at the Ingles Pharmacy without any problem. There is no private room. I am telling everyone that in case they are shy about public pain. But when it was my kids' turn, it was horrific. First, when F. called to see if they take my kids' insurance, we were told to come up and that it would be run through the computer system. That seemed vague to me. I wanted to go to the health department instead, but my autistic daughter said that that place made her nervous. (Surprising, as Ingles is practically a disco.) Plus, a local gentleman had recently become very ill with the flu, and you could see in the online news article reporting his illness that he was in the Ingles in the "couplie" that accompanied the article, and that made me nervous. So, we get there, and I notice that there is no definitive line for flu shots. There is a pick up area on the left, and a drop off one on the right. There seemed to be a flu shot line in the no man's land between the two above mentioned areas. Two women- Heidi and Burberry- were waiting in said line. There was no sign stating: "Line up here for flu shots." I left to take my kid to the ladies' room. When I got back, I helped F. fill out forms. We waited in the vague line. When the pharmacist approached the counter and took the women's forms, F. attempted to give our forms, too, only to be told that other people were waiting first. She refused to take our paperwork. F. looked at Burberry, totally flabbergasted. I could tell that she was compassionate. F. was not butting at all. This rude pharmacist was collecting the flu shot paperwork. Would it really have killed her to take one more clipboard? Were three clipboards too much for her? Irrational accusations are her forte, and that scares me. On top of this, two people arrived to pick up meds, and they were helped by the rude pharmacist. And they came after us. And they did not have to wait. Or be falsely accused. On top of this squared, another woman came to get a shot. She filled out her paperwork and tried to butt in front of us when a second pharmacist came to the pick up counter and asked if anyone needed help. Hey, it was a free-for-all, as you can see. By this time, Heidi had been stuck and Burberry had left for a bit because it was so intense. My one kid was partially laying down as usual, and I was beseeching F. to leave. And you know what? They did not take my kids' insurance anyway. All that drama for nothing. We were told to go to a doctor, which internally cracked me up because Haywood Pediatrics refuses to treat well kids. Another crazy thing- F. had mentioned that the new pharmacist was rude prior to our experience. No place is safe from baseness anymore. We moved on to the health department. On a positive note, I got to tell the hippie moms protesting the flu shots there that I did not want their propaganda after realizing that they were nuts and did not work for the health department. I politely folded their paperwork, but could not locate a trashcan. They giggled and were still there when we left, armed with paranoia and unarmed against illness. Who cares if a baby or a child fighting cancer has to be admitted to the ICU, right? Giggle away, ignoramuses, until a cough stops you. Title: "The New Flu Revue". Coming right at you! I've had many a good free samples here, averaging around 5 each time they are out. Water melons are perfect for slapping, good memories slapping those melons. For real, slapping a melon just makes the depression go away sometimes. And if Ingles is putting out some Slappable Melons and free samples, then they're good in my book. The Starbucks is good. Well, it's Starbucks. Frappucinnos eventually become nothing but ice at a certain point. Still, good stuff. I see very few people from school here, so fellow students, don't worry, you shouldn't have any hesitation about going here because there are very few high school students. The eating area is always crumby/dirty. Not gross, but crumbs everywhere. I mean it's the cafe at Ingles, what do you expect, but at the same time, I've got to complain about something, who doesn't. I love this grocery store when I visit the area. Always has everything I need, and more. I also love the Laura Lynn generic brand. Salad bar, olive bar, great deli and bakery, plus the selections of everything in the store is quite vast. I think it's better than the Publix down the street! read more

Do yourself a favor and buy your groceries anywhere but here, the Ingles Markets in Waynesville, NC. The front end of the store (cashiers and baggers) are perpetually understaffed; for the most part though the employees are very courteous and efficient with what they are given to work with. The technology is badly outdated, and the checkout areas are well worn out with time and use, but most of the cashiers and baggers remain pleasant and anxious to help customers. I cannot say this for all of these front-of-store employees because the customer service representatives can be extremely rude, not only toward customers but toward the lower-wage earners that directly face the customer (cashiers and baggers). Customer service agents are demeaning toward these employees and disrespectful toward them in front of customers. It is no wonder that employee moral is so negative in the front of the store and is the primary factor in encouraging high turnover rates. I repeat, find another store to buy groceries. Shopping at Waynesville Ingles Markets only perpetuates the mistreatment of honest, hard-working individuals and rewards the customer service employees. Zero stars would be a more appropriate rating than a single star. read more

I am moving to Waynesville N.C. I was please to find they have a Publix since I shop there in Florida but they also have an Ingles Supermarket. I have to say I was blown away by Ingles. The store is absolutely Huge and spotless clean. They have a much bigger variety of items and they even have a cafe by the deli with many tables and a large selection of hot ready to eat foods. Manager was kind of a jerk for no real reason whatsoever. Cashier refuses to look up our fuel perks rewards account by phone number. So originally this was going to be a positive review about the layout and organization of the store, but then two really bizarre things happened. We were traveling on vacation from Asheville to Piveon Forge with the kids, and we stopped here for supplies. When checking out with $135 in food, and not traveling with our rewards plan card on us, the cashier refuses to look up our rewards number from our phone number as we requested and insists that my wife use the personal card of another customer in line instead for the discounts. Unbeknownst to her atthe time, and in a totally unrelated simultaneous incident:walking back to the checkout from the bathroom (which is oddly unmarked in the back right corner of the store after I had to ask the friendly butcher where it was), I decided to snap a few photos with my phone for what I was planning to be a positive online review of this seemingly new Ingles layout. Just then, the heavy-set, middle-aged store manager comes Running up accosting me about taking photos in the store and without even askiing about my intentions launches into a confrontational diatribe about how this is private property and their policy is not to allow photography. Honestly the whole thing was so weird I almost turned around and returned our purchases for a refund, but then thought better not to inconvenience ourselves over the idiosyncrasies of a hillbilly mountain town grocery store and just get the heck out of there before the potential for snake dancing and the speaking in tongues. Points for store structure, layout, and navigability except for the back left corner that has too many aisle displays contributing to a traffic jam of carts, and major detractuions for incomprehensibly poor customer relations. read more

We have been part time local residents since 2011. We loved the store from day one, you will not find a chain of stores that offers better customer service than Ingles. The cashiers, managers, baggers are all so polite and helpful. The new remodeling just makes it that much nicer and the selection of organics gets better every time we come back, And you can't beat the view from the parking lot! A year later I just want to add that I actually look forward to shopping here. Plenty of carts of different sizes, there's always a manager or employee on the floor to help locate items and now in 2019 almost everything has an organic option. I'll give this grocery store four stars. It is similar to the ones we have at home with plenty of gluten-free and organic options. When you enter the store, it is spacious, well-organized, and clean. It is well-stocked in all areas. I found nearly everything that I was looking for and didn't expect to find. Much of their products were good quality and ample quantity. The produce area was clean, the produce bright and fresh looking. The deli carried Boars head and lower end quality meats. The cheese selection was quite notable and carried probably any variety you may be in search of. There was a variety of product options in the aisles I shopped in (personal, condiments, beverages, dessert, vitamins, etc.). The self-checkout was easy enough. The only drawback was that if you paid cash, you had to wait for assistance and the attendant was not readily available. I wasn't in a hurry, but that is a bit inconvenient. The prices were that of a better grocery store. You generally get what you pay for. Overall, it was a good shopping experience. I would shop here if I lived in the area. read more

When we stay with family nearby we end up visiting this store about once per day for various items and they always have everything we need! Great selection of organic and gluten free products. Fresh produce and the deli makes a mean sandwich. There is even a large dinning area if you would like to eat at the store! Starbucks will keep you caffeinated and I was happy with the small but expansive wine selection. All the staff was friendly about showing me where items were over the last week we were in town. The new expansion is very impressive. We now have a city-style grocery store in Waynesville. The meat and seafood dept finally compare to the store in Canton. They have expanded the produce dept with a nice selection and many new items. The biggest expansion is the cafe/deli. Fresh sushi, made to order sandwiches and lots of fresh-made choices. They even have a gelato bar. The salad/olive/wings/soup bar has been expanded and each section is now stand-alone. The remodel of the old store is expected to be finished in November and this location will become the largest in the chain with over 80,000 sq ft. It's still not quite as impressive as Fresh Market, Harris Teeter or Central Market but it is a great milestone compared to anything else outside of Asheville. read more

Super friendly service, clean and huge. Everything you can imagine, from lots of organics to great selection of craft beers. The cheese selection was amazing, as was the fresh ground nut butters. Pretty good store. Lots of variety and a huge Deli/Bakery section. I am trying to cut down on my plastic use, most specifically the plastic bags. I take my own reusable but yesterday, the bagger didn't know what it was for. First, he gave it back to me empty, then set it alongside the plastic-bagged groceries, then just put the groceries, plastic bags and all in my reusable bag. The people in the store are extremely helpful when I can't find something. I like the bin of empty boxes out front and the plant prices are great. Our family was visiting in Waynesville for our daughters wedding. We realized less than 1/2 hr before the ceremony started that our florist was a no show!! Very good friends of ours quickly rushed off to the nearest store which was Ingles. Bob, who was working in the floral area went out of his way to assist our friends in helping to find bunches of flowers, greens etc. He also went above and beyond in finding ribbon as well as pins to put bouquets together for the bride and bridesmaid. Without his help our daughter and her attendants would have walked up the aisle without any flowers. We came into this store several times and shopped in every department and I have to say this is now my favorite grocery store, so much so I'm trying to figure out how we can move to Waynesville and make Ingles our go to store. DANGEROUS NEGLECT! I normally have no complaints for this ingles location but oh my goodness, today I saw something that terrified me! I have a 1 1/5 year old in my shopping cart when I go to ingles; My daughter and I were going towards the cheese today when I saw a MASSIVE LEANING tower of boxes. People were walking by it making jokes and or giving concerned looks. The idea that it could injure someone so easily left me speechless. I avoided it completely with my daughter in the cart, I can't imagine the damage it could have inflicted on someone had it fallen. There was a young man in his ingles uniform making jokes about "leaning tower of cheeza" then following it with "the last one really did fall, it was everywhere in the back". Why on earth would you do it again and where people could get hurt? I do have photos of the incident. I am shocked at the complete disarray and neglect of safety. Speaking out of a business standpoint too... this young man's neglect and decision could easily have cost you (or may if someone did in fact get hurt since I saw the "tower") a significant amount of money from a law suit. I had high hopes that the new store would be an improvement but disappointment quickly developed. The wine selection is much less than previous store and needs to be vastly expanded. Some items need to have more shelf space because the items are more often than not sold out while other brands are not selling. Management needs to accept ownership of issues instead of always blaming others. If they walked around the store they might notice these type things. A customer survey might help.
