I got lucky in that Dia Drumgoole happened to be close by when I contacted his company (currently made up of him and his wife) and he came over within 10 minutes. He not only notarized the signatures, he also took the time to ensure the papers (a car title and a financial power of attorney) were filled out completely and properly. Note that his company can perform electronic notary services for a slightly lower fee (because no travel is required). But you have to go through an online validation of identity process similar to what the IRS and credit bureaus require.
