I went to another tattoo shop on Chicago's North Side before going here. They priced a wrist tattoo at about $100, which seemed quite expensive, but nonetheless something I thought I'd have to pay if I wanted it to be sterile and safe. I happened to be looking up tattoo shops around the South Holland area as that is where my mom works and found Ink N' Um and a few other places. This one had one of the best reviews I'd found. When I went in, the place was clean, Bob was friendly and honest. I turned 18 in September and that's when I went in to talk about a wrist tattoo. Bob told me that with eczema, the ink may fade quicker and it may take a long time to heal. Not to add that the wrist is a very used place. No other artist I'd went to told me this or even made me aware of how my eczema could play a part in the healing process. I was discouraged and upset, and decided to see if I could do something about my eczema. I finally decided, after deliberation, to get it on my upper arm near muscle so that it wouldn't move with weight fluctuations. He gave me a price of $50 for my wrist if I wanted to still do it. When I told him about the arm idea, he said it was cool and told me it'd be about $70. Both were less than the first place and my arm tattoo was bigger than the wrist would've been (obviously). The tattoo came out wonderfully and I healed with no complications. It's been about nearly a month and it's almost, if not, fully healed. The ink did go through a phase where it looked faded, but that was all part of the healing. It's back to a nice, dark, black color and I know I'll be going to get other ones if I can. I'd recommend going here if you're in the South Holland/Cal City/Indiana area. He does good work as I've gotten numerous compliments and it's reasonably priced. read more

Have several tattoos and piercings by Bob, some flash and custom. Bob is definitely an artist first and entertainer second. I would recommend setting up an appointment, but its not necessary. I've gone in a couple times without one, and had no issues. Very clean and sterile work area, making me feel at ease knowing that I won't catch any creepy diseases. I've gone to bob for years for miscellaneous tattoo work. I have also referred a lot of friends to him. His shop is close to where I used to live and is one of the best! I'd travel back to the suburbs to go to him. He has reasonable prices and great artistic suggestions. The shop is clean and well maintained. I came here with a friend on Saturday, October 8 2016. We have previously talked about tattoo and she told me about this place, at first I was a little skeptical because of the area I live in, but after looking over their facebook profile and reading reviews, I finally had the courage to try it out myself. For a first time, I really enjoyed my experience, the environment was not intimidating and it was also very clean, it smelled clean too :) the tattoo artist went over the drawings and basically did mention a few things I didn't think about when placing the tattoo on my body, so that was a plus for me :) he was humorous, pleasant and helpful, I would assume some tattoo artist would not say anything if they messed up a little-even if it wouldn't be noticeable, but this artist spotted a minor flaw and let me know, I am a little of a perfectionist so when i saw it, it was a little bothersome after knowing the minor "wiggle" but he suggested to make the lining thicker and I agreed, thus fixing it :) I look at my tattoos now and I really like both of them! the artists did a very well done job! I went to ink n ums today for a cover up, I went with a little print out of a design I liked and Bob used that and also drew freehand on my back till I was 100% happy with what I was getting, i didn't know what colours would cover my original so I left that in his hands, he asked me what my favourite colours were and did his own thing, he asked a few times throughout if I liked this colour n that colour.. 2 hrs later I got to see it and I was not disappointed! Was even prettier than id imagined, the layering and blending of colour was exquisite, his lines were straight, crisp and even and you cannot see a trace of the original... The shop's clean, Bob's chatty and instantly puts you at ease, his prices are great and his work is 1st rate, I'd recommend him to everyone!! So happy with my beautiful new tattoo, I will be back for another soon! read more

Very good service...until I took the bandage off. Bob was very nice and calming, as it was my first tattoo. However, it wasn't until I got home that I noticed a line was (noticeably) crooked, and that one of my letters was really awkward. People make mistakes, but why not acknowledge your mistake instead of sending me home looking dumb? Wouldn't go back to get it fixed. read more
