Within that time period my guy became ill and we couldn't get tats. I asked for my deposit back and was told it was non-refundable because they blocked the time out. Then asked if we could re-schedule and was told that would require another deposit. I find this to be NOT to be a reputable business or even operating with best practices for customer service. This place is amazing! Not only did they answer any questions I had, they made sure I was comfortable when getting my piercings. I was very nervous but I'm glad that they were super patient with me and helping me from start to finish. When they did my best friend's tattoo, it was amazing. It took 40 minutes but felt like 15 because they made sure we were both comfortable and watched a movie to distract from the pain. It's not extremely pricey but it's not cheap. I got an impromptu piercing done today by Becky at the Hammond shop. She answered my questions about the tattoo ideas I had but considering my current budget, I just asked how much and industrial would be and that was wallet friendly. I had gone to another tattoo/piercing shop and asked if an industrial would work on my ears because they are quite tiny. The other shop just looked at my ears and said "no" with no explanation. Becky, though, looked and said yes and was able to give me the right size and pierce me right then and there. Not saying it was like being tickled with ostrich feathers but it wasn't too painful. Second hole hurt a bit more than the first. She gave me some after care advice and I was on my way. Over the years I've gotten several piercings and one tattoo here. Artists are professional, talented, and sanitary. I got my piercings (ear lobes & nose) from Becky, all excellently done and reasonably priced (~$30+). About a week after I had my nose done I accidentally ripped it out-Becky offered to adjust my jewelry and put it back in for me when my nose was too swollen for me to do it myself. More recently, I got a small tattoo from Aaron for ~$100 (who no longer works there). Again, he was professional, friendly, and clean. It ended up healing a bit unevenly which resulted in a few lighter patches. I went in to ask about getting it touched up on really short notice because I go to college across the country, and Don really kindly squeezed me into a packed schedule 2 days later. Touch up was quick and easy, Don was great also! I love Bugaboo, and their customer service is excellent despite the fact that I keep messing up their work. Highly recommend! read more

The shop itself is very clean. Everyone has their own private studio. I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment. I had to put down a $40 deposit with a credit card. I just wanted to be sure I had an appointment because I was coming in from out-of-state. My scheduled tattoo artist got sick. They were super nice and able to fit me in at a better time. I had my tattoo design by Don. Here's been tattooing for over 23 years. He did an excellent job. He gave me just what I wanted. Absolutely wonderful place to get piercings done. Becky is very professional and sanitary with the whole piercing process. She's quite lovely and makes sure to answer any questions/concerns you may have. I've been to here twice, once for a cartilage piercing and the second for nipple piercings, both times went very smoothly. There's a $25 deposit along with the cost of the jewelry you pick. Depending on what you pick it'll change the price. I'd say most total costs would range from $30-$45, + a tip if you leave one. Overall, it was a very good experience. Customer service is the key to a great place. The place was also clean!! I didn't get a tattoo or a piercing so my review is on the customer service!! My brother has gotten (tattoo) work done here before and it's really nice! I had to go into surgery and couldn't get my Tragus piercing out! For those not in the know, that's a little nib by your ear! I was afraid. I decided to chance it and stopped in at this place. I asked a girl behind the counter if she could help. No problem, come on back Took it out for me and then told me to come back after surgery and they would put it back in. Don is the king of his trade. Jimmy is following along the high standards that were established before him. Jimmy came in after the man that was supposed to tattoo me called off sick. So let me preface by saying a couple of years ago I had some work done here and it was a good experience - although the tat I had done was relatively simple and not complex. Fast forward to today - I went in to see about a cover up; the design I brought in - is complicated and involved (not just my opinion, they agreed), bearing this in mind the girl suggested an artist and then suggested I may need a consult, which I was cool with because I am in no hurry. Then after some back and forth, I express some concerns, she tells me to check out the recommended artist portfolio, we agree on a consult where I expressly say I want to see a rough sketch of the final image before I commit to an appointment. She is cool we look at a calendar and then agree on a date. During this discourse she advises me that the shop rate is $80-100 per hour. Which is interesting because it is not posted anywhere in the shop which means you can make up the rate as you see fit never mind you just gave yourself a $20 swing window on the rate. So I ask, "at the consult I can get a quote for the final product and a timeline for completion?" She replies yes. Great! Then she writes me up a slip for a $100 deposit - wait, what do you want me to put a deposit on - a consult? She tells me the money will be applied to the tattoo - which is not only fine - it is standard (so no favors there) but I am not placing a deposit on work I have not agreed to have completed. She goes on to say she can't draft the drawing without a $100 deposit...at which point I am not cool. I get that tattoo shops get screwed all the time - people make appointments and don't keep them or ask for drawings and never come back; but customers get screwed too! Why would anybody forfeit $100 on a custom design tattoo cover up that they have not seen? We have not agreed on the amount of time - we have not agreed on a price and I should hand over $100. The girl at the front desk tried to tell me I would likely need to plan on three 4 hour sessions which could cost me anywhere from $80-100 per hour; and I don't even know what her interpretation of what my photocopy looks like...c'mon man. No visibly posted rates, no proposed image of product outcome, no realistic idea of chair time just an open cost ranging from $960 - $1200 worth of ink, and I should place a $100 bet...I have 2 words for this place, "ya'll trippin'." read more

Bugaboo Tattoo IS THE place to go. I've gotten tattooed and pierced here. My tattoo was done by the incredible, wonderful, kind and talented Jered Peters at their Merrillville location. Seriously, there aren't enough adjectives to really do his tattoos, art and personality justice. I got a really good sized black and white piece on my thigh by him that he did in two sessions, really we could of left it at one, but he scheduled me in for a second just in case so we could nit pick or add in anything else I wanted. OH! And let me tell you, there was a total mix up on days with my tattoo appointment (It was really a full on miscommunication that sprouted from MY end) and Jered, being booked out months in advance, was sweet enough to come in on HIS day off just so we could get my session done. Sat for about 4 and half hours and whenever I needed a break he was great about it! He took my reference piece, a semi-realistic elephant, and replicated it like I knew only he could do. Not only has he done a tattoo on me, but my husband has a piece by him and he completed a piece that was started on by another artist for my best friend. We all get compliments on Jereds work all the time. I HIGHLY encourage you to get a piece by him. He's seriously amazing. I've also gotten my nose pierced by Edwin. (He also helps keep that shop up and running like no ones business. And so sweet!). Now my nose was actually a re-pierce so I knew what to expect. For some reason, I really think I didn't eat enough, I almost passed out after he finished :o( . I was SO embarrassed, but Edwin was so nice about it and stuck by my side until I was okay to go. He's super talented and incredibly knowledgeable about his craft. He's also super awesome about answering any questions you may have. My experience with him was wonderful even if I was probably a big pain to deal with haha! Definitely going to go see him again if I brave getting anything else pierced. Seriously this place has the best artists I've seen. They do incredible custom work. And the shop, SUPER clean. Cleanest shop I think I've ever been in. I went in with a cover up design and Kate offered to do it. I waited a month in get in. The price was fair, but the work was really disappointing. I had a really cool and edgy piece that I pointed out specific parts I liked and she didn't listen to what I wanted. When people look at my tattoo they say, It's pretty, but what's it supposed to be? That's not really what I was going for when I had this piece done. Maybe another artist would have been better... I'm pretty disappointed. read more
