So not a fan I got a tattoo done there last year. It was a cover-up piece,I was super overcharged. They made the design and didn't really even care if I liked it or not. So the whole time just spoke to the other artist and customers not me ,then when I called back a month later to get it finished, it was like it was an inconvenience and the artist even told me I hate doing coverups ,as I'm sitting in the chair very uncomfortable and definitely would never go back there thanks but no thanks anyway I originally went. They told me I had to put $100 cash deposit and then the second time I went to finish I told him you never took the hundred dollar off the tattoo and he acted like he forgot, so he was trying to scam me out of an extra hundred dollars for a tattoo that I don't even really like. read more

I could not have asked for a better tattoo artist named Kim. We got straight to work on what I was visioning. Same day we were able to ink it on. This is the best shop by far in the SI/NJ area. Every artist in this shop is a great artist, each with their own specialty. It is a clean shop and a friendly shop, no attitudes here and they work with you so that you get exactly the tattoo that you want. Tim the shop manager is very helpful and will always steer you in the right direction. I recommend that you do your homework , go on Facebook and Instagram and compare the Inkstained artists work to the other shops in the area and you will come to the realization that these guys art is just flat out better then everyone else. I've been getting my tattoos at InkStained all year. Having been tattooed by 3 different artists, I can rightfully say that it does not matter which artist tattoos you because they all provide the same exceptional experience. Upon walking into the studio for the first time, I instantly felt apart of the group. The staff is very kind, professional, accepting, and willing to edit a design until it is perfect without so much as a hint of frustration. The studio itself is immaculate and a very chill environment to spend time in. The walls are lined with artworks that the majority of which were created by the staff. They provide ample free parking and I have never had an issue finding a spot to park. My tattoos have all turned out exactly the way that I expected them to and I have had no issue with healing. Also, they will not give u the time of day, they'll ask a few questions with a snarky attitude and once they actually work on you, continue talking to everyone in the room BUT you. The name of the guy who worked on me started with an S but it was a weird name so can't give you an exact name. Trust me u have four tattoos and I always go to recommended places or artists. I was charged $55 to get my ears pierced with a needle that I could have done myself for free...if the earings they used were expensive than maybe but I found a pack of 6 of the same exact "galvanized steel" ones on amazon for 9.99... total rip off.. Please do not EVER go to that place. RUN AWAY! I am extremely disappointed with this place and specifically with the artist IRMA. My tattoo has been made by an unexperienced unprofessional artist. The tattoo was easy to made, no colors, black and white. However, the outcome was just poor and my tattoo looked like drawn by a 5 year old. I wanted to cry, I was in a shock and disbelief. It was my body and I have to wear this tattoo all my life. I emailed the place with request to correct it but this salon never responded. I left multiple phone messages and finally after a few days, I was asked to come. TO my DISBELIEF, the salon admitted that the tattoo is not made correctly BUT if I want to keep it, they will have to add some colors. I have NEVER wanted any colors in my tattoo. My tattoo was supposed to be black and white from the beginning. However, the place quoted said : " we know what is the best for tattoo". I refused to do the same and went to other places for second opinion. All the places confirmed the tattoo is batched ! and it was very easy to correct the way I want with no colors. However, this place insisted to add some colors claiming they are the best artist and know what is the best thing for me. The artist's name is Irima was highly upset, rude when I mentioned that the tattoo is not made the way I wanted. She said, she had been doing for many years and I have no right to correct her. Overall, the whole customer service is terrible. They are rude, unprofessional. Once they take your money, forget about any corrections. And please keep it in mind and be ready that you will walk out from this place with the totally different tattoo than you want ! As of now, the tattoo is not finished, it looks bad and this place refuses to correct it the way I want though I full paid the whole amount. read more

I had my second tattoo experience here with Cris Gherman two days ago, and I will be going back at least twice more in the coming weeks. I booked and paid for three hours, but Cris and I spent much more time researching images and discussing the overall design. Though it is absolutely *your* tattoo, getting feedback from the artist is obviously important because they have experience figuring out what works on human skin and, of course, gauging what they as individuals can get to work. Cris didn't mind spending a little extra time doing this. As for the studio itself, everyone was really friendly and helpful, especially Tim at the front desk, who charged my phone, let Cris know I was there, and told me what was available to eat nearby. The rest of the guys seem to get along well, which makes for a nice relaxed atmosphere, which is important if you're going to hang out in a place for five or six hours. Someone made a food run and asked if I wanted anything. This is an all around nice place. read more

Have to say I'm so glad I was introduced to this place by someone. Mike had to finish a piece I was not happy with at all. I wish I would have came here sooner. I can't wait for my next appointment. The shop is very clean and updated. They have comfortable seats for you while you're in the chair. I've been a tattoo collector since 1997. I'm an artist and I do my research on tattoo shops and artists before I make a choice. As a lifelong Prince fan (since 1981), I knew when he died that I had to get a memorial tattoo to honor him. I wanted something that was worthy of him. Beautiful. I found Dan at InkStained tattoo after looking at many portfolios online and I knew he'd execute my vision perfectly. I was right. Everyone at the shop is professional and friendly. They immediately put Prince music on Pandora when I arrived for my appointment which was so cool. Dan re-drew my sketch I had dropped off a week prior and he did what an awesome tattoo artist should do- he made it better. Collaborated with me. He chose perfect colors and executed great lines. In the process, he used just enough pressure to do the job without tearing my skin up like many heavy-handed tattoo artists do. Sure it hurt some like all tats do, but I could almost take a nap in the chair compared to other pieces I've had done over the years. Dan is friendly, professional, and overall a cool cat. Worst place ever.. Went for finger tattoo with boyfriend they charged us 100 each and it faded off!

I'm not sure at what point I said his family emergency wasnt important. Maybe in his time of distress he took my disappointment as disrespect but that sure wasnt the case. All i wanted was a rescheduled appointment. I am also not sure what that has to do with not being able to get in touch with him the previous 2 months but i guess the mantra at ink stained is to make excuses for artists who disrespect customers and waste their time. Maybe you didnt read the text messages Mike but if you can post on instagram about a movie at 2am you can take two seconds to respond to a text of a customer who has been patiently waiting for five months to get a tattoo. Im highly disappointed being that i've been a fan of chris' work for some time and i was really excited to start having him do work on me. Maybe in the future you guys shouldnt take out your frustrations on customers. Regardless of the heated screaming match between me and Chris, I hope all is well with his grandmother. I went to inkstained today with my sister-in-law and we both went to ted and he did such a beautiful job. She got a cherry blossom tree on her side and i got lilies and butterflies in a cap sleeve. My artist was Flaco and let me just say that he was the complete opposite. He took the time to discuss what i wanted and give me his feedback on what he thought would be best. customer service is TERRIBLE. If you do not have a certain look, you get treated like garbage. I went in to get a tattoo, I asked to speak to an artist and the guy at the front desk was so rude and made me feel so uncomfortable and told me that the artist "can't talk right now". As I was in the middle of asking a few questions, I got brushed off and a "rocker" type of girl came in BEHIND me, and got helped right away. I got so frustrated that I actually walked out. I was trying to ask a few simple questions, got nothing answered but yet a girl behind me got helped right away. I would not recommend this shop to anyone for comfort. I felt very uncomfortable when I was so rudely pushed to the side. A willing paying customer should not be treated that poorly. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Worst tattoo shop ever. Worst experience. My tattoo scarred cuz Ted doesn't know what he is doing. On top of that my other tattoo faded ALOT and it's only been 3 months since I got it filled. Went back to the shop the second day when I realized the tattoo on my wrist wasn't healing right and they basically just shoved me away. I went back one month after when it STILL wasn't healed and obviously scarred and the guy told me its normal it just takes time. 2 months later my tattoo is healed and TERRIBLY SCARRED. I was charged like 200 dollars for a little thing on my wrist that is garbage. Now I have to pay 600 dollars for a cover up. I wish I could get my money back cuz this is just ridiculous. Every tattoo artist I show it too reacts the same way and says damn that's really bad I thought inkstained is really good. I guess not. Stay away from this place or at least Ted.
