Terrible experience at Inland Optometric Associates with Dr. Mai Nguyen. They tried to charge me $145 for a contact lens trial that usually costs around $80 elsewhere, with no clear explanation. After my exam, I was only given a glasses prescription. When I asked for my contact lens prescription, I was told I didn't get it because I hadn't paid the trial--despite the exam already being done. It honestly felt like they were withholding my prescription to force extra charges. Even worse, their attitude suddenly changed when I mentioned contacting my insurance. Very unprofessional, not transparent, and not trustworthy. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

I first came here in 2024 when it was under a different doctor- Dr. Truong? and honestly, I had a really horrible experience with her. I won't get into details, but I left feeling extremely embarrassed and mistreated ended up crying in my car. Recently, my ophthalmologist referred me back here for prescription glasses and told me there's a new doctor now. Since it's close to where I live, I decided to give it another try. Dr. Mai is amazing. I work in healthcare, and it's honestly rare to find a doctor who truly listens and takes the time to explain everything. I am being monitored for a possible serious condition, and for the first time, I felt like someone really explained and gave me a clear explanation and had set a realistic expectation for what i could have. Im also experiencing a couple of symptoms that were never explained to me well and she threaded through each of my concerns one by one and explained her diagnosis and recommendations very clearly. The prescription I got from Dr. Mai caused double image and really hard for me to focus. I had to go to Kaiser for an exam again and found out that the prescription were completely different within 3 weeks. Both eyes had different distance and reading prescriptions and Dr. Mai did not pick up astigamatism in the right eye. read more

Continued calls.... promises of calling back but never receiving a call....charged more than out of network for standard eye exam. Keep requiring follow up appointments before they would give me a prescription which did not align with my schedule as I travel for large stints throughout the year. Treated very poorly at this location because I stated that my contact lens prescription was blurry in one eye. Doctor spoke down to me basically saying that it was impossible for me to see blurry out of my right eye....when I was seeing blurry! They told me I had called last week and said prescription was fine (LIE) and then questioned why I didn't come back sooner (I stated I work and have kids) but she was still very rude! Even her own employees said she was mean to them!! Then I was told I can't keep coming back for freebies when I never asked for anything free! I just asked if they could verify my prescription was correct! Major attitude and I WILL NOT be coming back. I was very polite and asked simple questions but they treated me like an idiot. Dr. Truong is the most unprofessional and rude business owner that I've had the displeasure of dealing with in my entire life. Initially, I called in just to see if I could get a refund on trial contacts, as they were taking too long to even ship (they promised shipment in 1 week, it's now been nearly 3). Upon conversing with Dr. Truong, she vehemently denied ever promising the 1-week shipment, and she began to get very upset once I asked her if I could cancel my order. Even though I just asked her if I could get my money back for contacts that haven't even shipped yet, she became very defensive and started saying things like, "You know what, I don't even want you as my patient anymore" and "You should just go back to your old optometrist." On top of that, she became very frazzled and began yelling at me about my astigmatism. To say the very least, I was extremely confused with the entire situation, as the conversation literally began with her yelling at me over the phone. When I asked her again just for a refund, she told me to come in for the refund, and soon after, she hung up on me while I was waiting for a response about providing information for the refund. I've called back several times, and I have not been able to reach her office at all. If you decide to be her patient even after reading this review, make sure you keep record of everything she tells you. Typically, I've found that incompetence in managing your own business likely precedes an incompetence in ability/skill in one's profession. She's far too proud to admit her own errors, much less apologize for such, so you don't want to end up in my situation - contactless and upset. read more

Do not recommend if you have IEHP for your kids you still end up paying for cheap glasses and they do not have a wide selection. I used to work for an optometrist and they can offer more selection of glasses for IEHP. Now we have to wait 2 months for glasses. Just get an exam buy glasses online. Wouldn't usually look out of my city for an eye doctor, but my friend suggested me to give this one a try. So, what's there to lose? If it was not to my liking, I could easily just go back to my old place or find another one around my area. I don't know what's up with the reviews stating they received bad service; I guess to each their own. First thing I walked in, the receptionist was very nice and welcoming, and on top of that Dr. Truong is very patient and informative. She didn't rush me at all, instead she gave me her full attention, as if we're old friends. That made the visit to the eye doctor more pleasant. The glasses frames on display are all in fashion. I took my time trying out all the Ray Ban's, unlike a certain hut that pressures you to buy or leave, I was very relaxed and was able to pick out the right one. Although it's a bit far from where I live, the customer service here is worth the 1 hour drive out. read more

The girls who work in the office are very kind and I enjoyed speaking to them. However, I do not think they have experience working in their profession. One girl was confused on how much my insurance covered for Contacts/Glasses, and was going to make me pay $90 for contacts during my Annual Fitting (that my insurance always covers), until I corrected her and had her re-read the information from my insurance. My previous Optometrist always ordered my contacts and it took an average of 3 days to receive the shipment. I only switched optometrists because my new insurance was no longer covered under my previous optometrist. Now this optometrist is telling me that it will be 2 weeks before I receive me contacts. I called to ask if I could get a one time courtesy of a week's trial to have until my contact order came in. The doctor "supposedly" said she had no more to give me. Which I believe is a lie because when she gave me the first trial, she had many in her drawer and I highly doubt she has gotten rid of all of them in a week. They dont have that many clients who wear the same contacts. Its clear to me that the doctor does not care about her patients, as you can see, the reviews dont lie! Im sure she will now write me a comment to defend herself on the service at her office. As most people who are wrong do. After I receive my contacts through his office, I will be looking into seeing another optometrist. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I've always had a positive experience here. Before Covid, and even during, the staff, including the optometrist, has always been nice and welcoming. My entire family and I have been coming here at least for the past 10 years and I have no complaints. Dr. Jackie worked with my family and I when I transitioned from glasses to contacts and helped my dad save money with the contacts. I don't order my contacts through this optometrist, but I do get my glasses from here and have never had an issue. My glasses typically have always come within 2 weeks. I'm currently on the third week of waiting for my new glasses, but have been notified that my trial contacts have come in. I have astigmatism in both eyes though and was told during my appointment, as well as over the phone when they called about my trial contacts, that my glasses may take longer because of both eyes having astigmatism on top of the on going pandemic. Dr. Jackie has always treated my family and I with respect, and as far as I've always seen, her employees as well. She always asks about my personal life and even remembers what college I go to and what I study. She asks about not only me, but my siblings as well even if they aren't at the same appointment. I didn't get the name of the new lady upfront but she was very nice and patient with me. When Jorge and Joyce used to work here they were also always kind and never spoke negatively on Dr. Jackie to me. Neither Dr. Jackie or the woman working up front have tried to up sale me and explain everything in detail to me. I'm a young adult and am not entirely clear on what my insurance covers but when I ask questions they always respond kindly and in detail. I'm not sure why other people have had such negative experiences here, but in my last 10 or so years of coming here I've always loved it and will continue coming to this optometrist. For people complaining on how long it's taking to receive their glasses right now (2020/2021) we're in the middle of a global pandemic. Have respect and be patient. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. I am very very disappointed in them. I pay $400 for glasses and when I come to pick up the frames bend backwards. Complete defective and had to wait for new frames. New frames come and 2 weeks later same thing now the hinge is turning sideways so again they say defective we will get you another new frame. I asked obviously these frames are no good and I want a different kind but they said they cannot do that because lenses are only for those frames so reluctantly I get a 3rd frame and guess what. Several months later same hinge this time just fell apart and broke. This time they say you broke them so they are not defective. REALLY!!!!!!!!SHAME ON YOU. YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER AND HAVE LEFT ME HANGING WITH NO GLASSES.. this business should be avoided like the plague. They will no longer have my business and I will let all of Rosena Ranch know and will contact the Better Business Bureau for them selling defective items and they know it. Very Sad. read more

Drive 30 minutes to get to my appointment only to be told oh no we don't accept that insurance. I said I wish this would have been told to me before I wasted my gas and time. Because of my high astigmatism, other offices have said they can't put me in contact lenses. This doctor was able to put me in contact lens. I have been taking my kids here for almost a year and I am changing Doctors ASAP. Every time we go we are rushed the front office is very unprofessional especially George, when we arrived the other day I told him I'd had to come back for my appointment which I did not need an appointment in the first place and when I came back 15 minutes before they closed he had me sit down and wait and three minutes before they closed said that they were not able to see needed have to reschedule when I never had appointment the first place because I didn't need one. At that point I told him we did not use your doctor just my son needed it for his glasses he was very rude his garage my son and give us attitude the whole entire time not answer any my questions and was super unprepared unprofessional. I work in a doctors office as a manager and I would never have an employee like that working for me and if any of my employees treated any my patients in that manner they would not be working for me anymore. As for the doctor herself she was very unprofessional at that point to she's never been very accommodating and seems to always be in a rush. I've come here for my glasses for almost 9 years now. They can almost always see me the same day I call to see about an appointment and they're always super friendly! I had a different optometrist before and they used to take about a month to get my new glasses in, here on the other hand usually get mine to me in just a few weeks! The doctor here and everyone else are so attentive that you're prescription and the fit of your glasses are perfect. Don't even get me started on my first set of contacts from here, I was probably 14? And the doctor was extremely patient and helpful with teaching me about how to use and care for contacts.
